Since you are all such smart, wonderful people, I was wondering who your favorite authors are, what your favorite books are.... etc. (This could go from novels, to poetry, to essays, whatever you want!) Also, discuss the works... lists tend to get old fast.
I'll go ahed and start:
Favorite Book (of the moment): Crank by Ellen Hopkins Favorite Book (of all time): The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde Favorite Author: Edgar Allan Poe Favorite Poet: William Blake Favorite Poem(s): To His Coy Mistress - Andrew Marvell Dream Within A Dream - Edgar Allan Poe The Human Abstract - William Blake
I also love anything satirical.
I'm sure there are others that I'm just not thinking of right now.
edit: I changed the subject because the original subject (BOOKS! and other things of that nature) sounded too much like Victoria's thread.

Hm... that's a bit hard for me, since I seem to forget the whole experience of reading the book and only seem to remember what the book was about... lesse...
I think my favorite author is Piers Anthony and Oliver Sacks, a british neurologist.
Favorite book is... The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat, a compilation of interesting neurology/psychology cases.

My favorite book has to be 'The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter' by Carson McCullers. I plan on reading 'The Symposium' by Plato.. That should be interesting.
My favorite author? Wow, that's a tough one. Maybe Jonah Lehrer, a psycology writer for Seed Magazine.

I like the poem "Jabberwocky," but I forgot who wrote it. Hm, I'd have to say that my favorite authors are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Nora Roberts. That might be an odd combination, but it's only as strange as I am. I also adore Poe, since "The Raven" was on my favorites list for the longest time, and his famous quotations are funny and often true.
Call me strange, it's true smile

This is tough.
My favorite book at the moment would probably be either A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, or the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams. xd I just cant decide.
My favorite book of all time would either be 1984 by George Orwell, The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman, or Lord of the Flies by William Golding. I can't decide there either.
I think Douglas Adams is my favorite author xD I just really love his writing style.
I have a problem remembering poets and poem names sweatdrop

Well-- and this is kind of embarrassing-- I can actually never remember the author of the books I read unless it's something famous and/or I read it a lot (it's the same with actors; I don't care about them, just the characters). But I do love Tamora Pierce, J. K. Rowling, and Janet Evanovitch. All are great authors, as well as being the only names I can remember. Stephen King is a must (I strongly recommend you all to read "Skeleton Crew (read: 'Survival Type') and "Danse Macabre". In the Fanfiction line, I mostly read Harry Potter and Naruto, although I do dabble in Pirates of the Caribbean, Mulan, and other fandoms. My favorite Fanfiction authors include Sunfreak, who has an extensive array of one-shots (and they come with little quotes at the bottom; I'm making a collection of those and my own), Kilerkki, who is co-writing an amazing Harry Potter/Naruto crossover, and JoIsBishMyoga, who wrote a huge Harry Potter/Yu Yu Hakusho crossover (that has sadly been removed and placed at ForeverFandom) and is working on the sequel, which promises to be just as good. As you can see, Harry Potter is a big thing for me!
I strongly encourage all of you to go and read the things I mentioned!
All Fanfiction authors can be found at Fanfiction.net.

I also adore Poe, since "The Raven" was on my favorites list for the longest time, and his famous quotations are funny and often true. Call me strange, it's true smile Jabberwocky is by C. S. Lewis, unless I'm truly going insane (which happens sometimes)
My favourite history author is by far Allison Weir...I keep a stack of her books near my computer for random referencing and all sorts of good stuff.
I have a fondness for Robert Frost, since honestly he's the last poet worth remembering, and occasionally I like works of Dickinson although sometimes I hate her too. XD
what else? I really, really loved the book The Sunne In Splendour by Sharon Kay Penman - it was fantastically well-written and really well-researched, a very good combination.
I'm much more a person of a particular work rather than an author, since I honestly haven't been so enthralled by a particular author that I read them for the sake of reading.
I like the ideologies of Emerson and Thoreau...
This is such a hard question! XD
