(In answer to a request.)
The pond is cool and clear, running more like a small river than an pond. It starts as an oval shape dotted with waterlillies, then spills down into small waterfalls that feed the path it cuts through the rocks. Koi fish find this body of water to be an excellent home and are clearly seen through the crystal water.
Over the water that could pass as a river lies an arched bridge. Its traditional form completes the feeling of serenity that the pond brings. In the spring, cherry blossoms coat the pathway from a nearby tree. Many come here to think and relax in the calming atmosphere of the "Meditation Bridge."

(whos requested this? biggrin )
Cherry blossoms blew across the bridge as Bainin strolled toward it. The gentle lapping of the water and the smell of blossoms filled the air. Bainin strolled onto the bridge and stopped in the middle. The smells soothed him and reminded him of happy times. A smile tugged at his lips but didnt form. Slowly he turned, piviting on the balls of his feet, to the side of the bridge and leaned over. He saw a fish swim past and soon another fish joined it. As the second fish was joined by a third Bainin looked at the ski. Seeing the fish had reminded Bainin of his old friendship and what he had lost. A frown was set on his face now and he began to watch the clouds roll by gently in the breeze.

(:XP smile The research center was seperated from everything else by a fairly large field. Connecting this field to the rest of Seretei was the "Meditation Bridge". This made the bridge a rather common sight to Kagerou, who was continuously in and out of the labs. Today she was in a relatively good mood. After all, she had only just this morning completed 18 years of work. She could only hope that it would truly help.
She wasn't paying much attention as she came across the bridge. She wasn't used to running into anybody on the bridge. Especially not literally. However, today seemed to be a different sort of day.
WAM!
Kagerou stumbled backwards, catching herself on the railing of the traditional bridge. She probably wasn't heavy enough to have even affected the other person. Her glasses had slipped, so she used the arm that wasn't clinging to the bridge to slide her large round wire rimmed glasses up her nose. Then she straightened herself up to get a good look at the person she ran into.
She didn't even bother with apologies.

The sudden shock of being run into caused Bainin to slide down the railing. Slowly he regained his balance and turned his head looking at the stranger. He shifted his weight and stood up straight. His eyes locked with the womens. "In a hurry?" he asked tilting his head to one side and waiting for a reply. The wind began to pick up sending the blossoms off the bridge and into the air. One such blossom landed on his shoulder and slowly blew up toward his head. this blossom suddenly blew off and landed on the water causing ripples to move accross the surface.

"Should I be?" She asked with a snip of attitude and a shrug. She brushed at her clothes a bit to make sure they weren't dirty at all. She fixed her glasses more securely, then settled into her usual relaxed pose. One of her hands was tucked away in the large white pocket of her lab coat. The other hung limply at the side, causing her shoulders to slant. Also, one of her feet jutted out a bit as if she were really in a battle stance. The pose seemed to offer stability, but made her hips uneven, tilting up opposite of her shoulders. It was a pose full of attitude that she didn't even really try for.

" I dont know should you be in a hurry?" A fish jumped out of the water and made a small splash. Bainin lifted his eyebrow as he noticed her stance. Why is she so agressive he thought as he too shifted his stance into a slightly more peacful one. He turned back to the side and leaned over the side. His gaze was set far into the distance.

Kagerou frowned heavily. "Probably. Doesn't mean I am." She didn't even bother glancing down at the fish. She'd seen them so many times that she could've made up nicknames for all of them. The cherry blossoms were nice, but she wasn't about to admit that in front of anybody. It was a cheesy female thing. She wasn't into cheesy female things.

Bainin's frown turned into a straight line as he turned to look at her again. "Well then have fun with whetever your doing". He muttered somthing about her watching where she was going and turned his attention back to the pond/river.

Kagerou shrugged and continued to the lab, stepping around him so closely that the wind of her passing would have stirred his clothes. She was soon well out of range and on her way to the labs.

Kinaro walked along the well-trodden path toward the pond, following along the footsteps of a thousand Shinigami before him. Of course, this fact never once crossed Kinaro's mind. No, he was more focused on the present, in particular the new Kidou gun he'd just picked up from the Research & Development Labs. They were a wonderful place, really, if somewhat beyond his scope. It wasn't that he didn't understand what they did there, it was simply that he was a little short-tempered, and he just didn't possess the patience to continually blow things up in his face.
But they did make many, many interesting little devices, like the uncommonly handy reiatsu radar tucked into his belt, barely held in place due to the pressure of his draped shinigami robes. Today was, as usual, a gorgeous day in Seretei, and he'd dispensed with his normal muscle shirt in favor of a bare chest, enjoying the constant soft breeze and warm sun. But back to the Development Labs...His newest little toy from them was a Byakurai gun, developed by one of their head researchers, a cute little green-haired girl he'd noticed once or twice. Kagerou, if he remembered correctly. He tried, but he really wasn't any good with names. He only remembered her because she was the only person in the whole building who had fishnet as a regular portion of her outfit.
Kidou guns held a very specific interest to Kinaro. Simply put, in spite of his power, he pretty much sucked at Kidou. Sure, he could use it - he was a Captain after all - but that didn't mean he was particularly adept with it. As far as he knew, no current captain was worse at Kidou than he was, although none of them could match him in Hakudo. He glanced up from his Kidou gun, wondering if there was something he could test it on (not exactly a safe thought, but it's was he was thinking), when he noticed a very distinctive head of green hair moving towards him at a decent clip. He stopped and smiled as she approached, half-expecting her to walk on by.
"I didn't think you researcher-types ever came out of your labs." His voice was low, soft, melodious, full of humor, though carrying no hints of teasing.

She was caught off guard by the voice. It was bad enough that one person was on the bridge, now there was another on the path? She glanced up at Kinaro, realizing almost immediately that she had actually seen this one before. She cracked a bit of a half-smile at his "joke", though it was hard to tell if it were genuine or not.
"Don't worry, we're working on a way to bottle sunlight for our own personal use. Soon, we won't have to leave our labs at all. We'll assign some poor shinigami the duty of sending us food down a slide."

Sighing heavily Bainin once again pivited on his right foot and swiftly walked off the bridge. The sun shone over head and a breeze ruffled his hair and robes. Stopping after a few minutes to look at the clouds before moving, slowly but surely, towards the hot springs.

Well, that was almost a surprise. He hadn't expected a sense of humor. He took a step back, removing himself from the path so he wasn't standing in the way of anyone who might need to get through and also giving himself a better view of Kagerou. It was a trick he'd learned over the years. Better to gain a look subtly than to look them up and down.
She was slightly taller than he'd expected, oddly enough. She wasn't tall by any means, but he'd pegged her as shorter than she was. It was probably just the lighting in the labs that did it, or rather, the general lack thereof. The bangs were cute, almost begging to be played with, and her grey eyes gave a mysterious feel to her face. Grey eyes were always the hardest to read.
Being what he was, he couldn't help but notice her relatively curvy figure, admiring it, though not outwardly saying so.
"Is that so? Maybe I could get some for use in the Central Library when you figure it out. It's always rather dark in there."

Kagerou paused. What did he just say? She raised an eyebrow at him. He was different all right. She couldn't help it. She cracked a smile. Her head tilted to the side just slightly, her bangs the only thing shifting since everything else seemed to be heavily coated in gel. She shifted her weight to the other foot, causing her whole stance to shift with it. Her chest shook softly with a barely audible laugh.
"Sorry." She said finally, her grin not fading. "Members only." With that she shrugged her shoulders as if to say 'that's the way it is'.

Ah, a smile. Women almost always looked better when they smiled. And to top it all off, the smile came with a mildly accentuating laugh. Kinaro returned the smile, his eyes lighting up. It'd been quite some time since he'd had any occasion to smile, let alone laugh.
He followed her movements closely, trying not to be overly obvious about it. The stance she'd taken was cute, almost subdued.
"Members only, eh?" He chuckled. "Sometimes I wonder if I'd've been better off as captain of the 12th Division instead of the 8th. 12th gets all the fun stuff before everybody else does."
It never occured to Kinaro that his folded over robes meant it was rather difficult to tell he was a captain at all.
