OH MY GOD I LOVE MY HORSE. XD
I've had Shay (ShadowFax) for a little over a month now, and I love that horse to death. He's the most level-headed horse I've ever worked with (and that's saying something for a virtually green-broke 5-year-old QH), and I swear that as long as it's not too hard, I can get away with ANYTHING on this horse. <3 And he loves his mommy. xD
This morning while I was actually longing him, I was at one end of the arena and my friend Sarah was at the other end with another horse-in-training (a paint), longing him as well. After I worked with him for a while, I finally got to longe him over the ground poles, and I think he had fun with those. I'm pretty sure that he knew what they were, since he used to be jumped, albeit incorrectly. sweatdrop
So afterwards, when I was finished longeing and riding him (he was pretty good. <3), it was time for Sarah and I to cool out our horses...no big deal, right? I hopped off of him and pulled his saddle off before hopping back onto him bareback (our favorite way to cool out. XD), but not without my mountain dew. Sarah was all 'can I have a drink?,' and feeling a little more giving than usual, I let her.
I gave it to her, and she walked her horse away. xD For kicks, I started talking like a cowboy (Kind of funny, since I was wearing my fancy black breeches and my knee-high boots xD), and was like 'Now, you lis'n here, young'n! I have me a QUAAAALITAY cow-wranglin' horse, an' if ya'll don't come back 'ere, I'll 'ave ta wrangle you and ye'r cow-horse!,' being the VERY dressage-y and VERY northern person I am, this sent her into a fit of giggles, still evading me.
Shay, being the good boy he was, was just walking around being a good boy while I followed Sarah on him, moving around quite a bit as I pretended to be a cow-wrangler. Except Dudley (the paint/cow-horse) was walking faster than him...
So I nudged him into a trot and chased Sarah and Dudley around, finally managing to catch up and 'herd' Dudley towards a corner, where I managed to get my mountain dew back, both of us laughing quite hard at my antics. XD Shay was such a good boy through this entire thing, even though he probably would rather have been outside playing with his buddies. xD There was one point where I was talking about how I wished Shay knew how to leg-yeild and turn-on-the-forehand, but I was content with him anyways. Sarah was like 'Dudley can do that!,' to which I replied 'Yeah well, can you do this?' and proceeded to move one leg over his neck to the other side, and then the other over his back so I was facing backwards before asking him to walk, which was fun. XD He was a sweety, though, and stopped when I asked him to so I could face the other way to walk him out for a few minutes longer before I put him out.
It was fun. <3
More tales of my not so smart antics tomorrow. xD

Sooo today I rode Shay. <4
It was the second time I've ridden him since his two-month-long break, and I ended up taking him out to the outdoor arena to work with him. It was the first time I'd ever worked with him outside, and although he spooked a couple times from idiots who were going like 90mph, he was a very good boy.
There was one point when I got on him when somebody sped past on a motercycle and gunned the engine or whatever, and he took off in a canter. After I managed to get his head down so I could stop him, for the first time I was able to realize how awesome his canter is. I swear to god, it's the best canter I've ever ridden. *__* like floating on a cloud. <4
tomorrow I'll be putting my brother on him. I wonder how it'll go. ninja
