Fierce red orbs were now calm, seeking something within the forest. Malik had wandered a bit from the Oturiders Pack, he just was searching for something. He felt something calling to him, but he wasn't sure what. Ever since he had seen Nix find Cellen, Rage find Backus, things seemed out of place, even that crazed Arguin had a son he knew of. Daemon seemed to even have a blue daughter, but even that was speculation.
He sighed and moved about the trees, his black pelt standing out from the greens. He could blend in if he wished to. He was getting older now. Nearly a full grown adult, he had a little bit farther to go though. But he wasn't looking too forward to it. Besides maybe getting a better position in Phib's pack, Malik would still be alone no matter how big he grew.
Perhaps someday he'd find a friend that wouldn't abandon him. It seemed like everyone else had.

Erin shuffled along, her paws skittering on cold ground, mind a little blank. At times like this she tended to switch off a little - not really thinking just observing, surviving, doing what she was doing. Currently what she was doing was carrying a rabbit back to where Helios was probably waiting. If he wasn't waiting there she'd need to find his scent, trail him until she did find him. The violet eyed female had set out relatively early to hunt but the rabbits at this time of year were old enough and well fed enough from autumn stores that they were not easy prey. Still, her dull, mottled coat was not bad camouflage.
She weaved this way and that amongst the trees - almost a shadow - used to trying not to be seen. She did not, however, see the dark male. She was coming from upwind of him, head down, and had no notion he was in front of her until she practically walked into him. "I uh ah...sorry!" she squeaked, scooting back, tail between her legs. Her eyes darted from side to side, searching out an escape route should this wolf prove to be unfriendly.
She wasn't used to this territory, it's wolves. She'd been used to where she stood in her old pack: at the bottom. Now she had been thrust into an unknown sphere of many packs and changing relationships. The young omega female did not like this one bit.

Malik's vision was preoccupied by memories. He even smiled at them, remembered when he was just a pup. He was on the break of adulthood, being a pup seemed so long ago, yet so near. It was strange to how and explain it, all he knew was that his memories, for the most part, were fond. He remembered the day he stumbled across Phib's lands quite well.
When he was given a second home.
His reminiscing was cut short be a figure, almost coming into him, a voice, soft and nervous. His red eyes settled on her, and he smiled a warm smile. "Hello," He swayed his tail back and forth, why was she so nervous? Perhaps she wasn't used to being alone? He did notice as he grew that he could look intimidating, black pelt, red eyes, though the white spots on his forelegs killed that tone right away. "Don't be nervous, I'm Malik, who may you be, if I may ask miss."

What Malik didn't know was that, more than his intimidating appearance, his manner was what left Erin more confused and wary now. She was not used to being addressed so kindly or with such courtesy. She was, most times, either being berated by Helios or dealing with angry wolves who the male had annoyed and who were not kind to her as she was his companion. It took some ettle to stand up to some of those wolves but, at the same time, Erin only did it because it meant that Helios would not be run off, beaten or worse.
The shy, brown female still looking side to side, still making sure she could find a way to slip off, would never not answer a question asked of her. "I am Erin.." she said quietly, eyes momentarily flicking upwards towards him, evaluating as always the threat he might pose to herself and Helios should he wander this way. She didn't offer more, didn't ask questions.... Instinctively she felt that it wasn't really her place to interrogate another, only to answer questions asked and do as she was told.
This male, though, didn't seem to be angry at her, nor was he demanding anything right now so perhaps she wouldn't be in too much trouble, could slip away soon...

He tilted his head at her. So shy and silent, so soft she seemed. Malik offered a warm smile and lowered himself to the ground, belly against the earth, tail curled around him. So he wouldn't seem so large, he would hate to scare he off. He wanted to be a gentlemen not a scary thing! How would he ever find any friends or get a better place in Phib's pack if he scared others away?
Malik's red eyes fell over her form, so tiny he noted. But the faded brown under her eyes, and the mark upon her forehead. Perhaps she was from a faraway place, the symbol meaning something, as he believed his appearance was. Or at least, the older ones from his birth-pack labeled him with.
Raising his paw only slightly he pointed towards her forehead, "It's pretty...like a star..." he smiled and wagged his tail a bit. Perhaps she could be his friend? "Erin, what're you doing out here all alone?" he was curious, plus, if that crazed gray wolf was around here, it wouldn't be safe for anyone to be alone.

Her eyes widened slightly as the large male sat, lay, curled himself up on the ground. His pose was almost omega-esque but not. A sort of "I'm not big and bad" type of pose without the inherent submissiveness. Inwardly she smiled, reminded of another large wolf who was like this strange, black male. If this stranger, Malik, was like him then perhaps she shouldn't be so worried?
Unsure, dithering, she let her ears creep up a little, speculatively, almost in a questioning manner as she studied the other wolf. He did, indeed, seem rather gentle even though he was large and he'd been quite quiet. Her urge to run away quickly was somewhat subsiding though she was still confused as to why the big wolf had stopped her. Perhaps he wanted or needed something? Needed her help? She wasn't sure. She realised only now that when she had bumped into the male, spoken, she had dropped her furry prey. Maybe he was hungry?
Before she could ask his question came. "Oh.. I'm not alone. Well.. I am, right now. But I'm not." Erin tried to make explain but stumbled over the words a little. Taking a breath she began again. "I'm with a companion. My brother... he's a little while away. I'm only alone to hunt.." It didn't occur to her she might lie. Withhold information, maybe, but if asked a direct question she found it hard to do even that.
"Are you alone?" she wondered, meekly. Perhaps he was lonely like she sometimes was? Either way it'd be nice to find out if there were others around this area.

Malik rolled over and sat up, but kept a smile upon his maw. She seemed alright now, least better then before. "Thats good,t hat you're not alone," he knew of strange wolves in the woods, he did not wish any harm to befall her. Surely he would not forgive himself if it was the crazed gray wolf he so wished to seek revenge upon one day.
Croanyl, had tried to take a pack member away, had fought with the hugh guard and Phib...Malik would never take that lightly. Someday, someday he would get bigger and stronger.
"Right now I am...just, wandering, I feel alone in my pack sometimes too..." his ears folded back a bit, "Seems everyone is involved in something or with someone and I just feel...alone," but now he wagged his tail, "Ah well, things go that way right? Nothing I can do. You said you were hunting, would you like help?"
Not that he believed she couldn't handle it herself.

The cocoa toned female detected a hint of sadness in the big wolf's demeanour and tone and wished she could comfort him in some way. Her heart went out in sympathy as he talked of wandering alone. Of feeling alone in a pack too... Those were feelings she found gripped her, too. She had left a pack which probably hadn't even noticed her absence except when some chore needed doing. Even travelling with Helios she felt alone - the big male was not the best of companions and she spent most of her time away from him, hunting. 'Involvement' was something she hadn't even considered.
"I.. I guess so.." she said quietly, not wishing to disagree. She wasn't one to put forward her own feelings often but his tone and words had struck a cord in her. "I understand how that feels.."
Just before she had spoken to him Erin had dropped her catch, a chunky brown rabbit, at her feet. She motioned to it now, smiling timorously. "I have what I wanted.. There's not much else out in the cold." It was probably the most coherent single sentence she'd spoken to the male so far. It was neutral and Erin was a reasonably good hunter. Pride was not something she felt often but deep down inside she knew she could find the small prey where no others would have. Perhaps it was years of observing things quietly - the knack had come easy to her.
"Are you hungry?" she asked, wondering if he had needed some help or perhaps did not feel like feeding himself. So used to feeding others who were perfectly capable of feeding themselves was she that the brown she-wolf would have gone right then and gotten him something - despite prey being almost non existant or hard to catch.
