Some freshman in High School who I know is in what seems to be a sampler-unit of Literature in his english class.
After reading The Bear, and then Hills like white elephants, the class was asked whose style they liked more. Its no question that two very different styles are at play here.
Which author of the two do you prefer and why?
Personally, I've always loved Hemingway, understatement leaves so much to the imagination.

I have not read any Faulkner, so I would have to say Hemingway. I prefer Hardy, Austen and the Brontes when it comes to classics.

I'm not crazy about either of them, but I'd have to say Hemmingway.

Neither of them are my favorite writers. But between the two I would say Hemmingway. At the moment I am quite interested in Shakespeare. I am halfway through Macbeth. What's more classic than Shakespeare?
