In honour of his birthday TODAY (happy birthday Sevvy!), discuss whether YOU think he is good or bad.
After you have read HP&tHBP, did your opinion on Severus Snape changed?
Did you ever suspect that he was indeed the Half Blood Prince?
Is he still, in your eyes, a loyal "spy" of Dumbledore or a loyal tyrant of Voldemort's dark side?

in my mind he was always evil. Weird that he turns out 'evil'

I think he was always good.
He had to kill Voldemort and flee with the death eaters because that was his job in the order-spy.
It was unfortunate that he had to kill dumbledore crying but...everything happens for a reason.

I dont know i thought he was always mean cause he use to be a death eater and i think if hes how is he mean if he saved harrys life so im just as confused as everyone else it.

He had the perfect oppritunity to kill Harry and he didn't. I think Dumbledore forced him into making this hard decision. However, Snape I would say is good but I do believe he hopes the light side will win.

I think I wrote about this somewhere else in this guild, but I definately do not believe Snape is evil. I believe that he was following Dumbledores orders when he killed him. Dumbledore would not beg for his life end of story.

I don't think I ever consider Snape to be really evil in the first place. I really don't any doubt that he working for Dumbledore all along and that in order for Harry to defeat Volemort, he's going to have to get Snape's help-as much as he hates his guts, he going to have to.
At the end of book, I think Dumbledore was actually trying to convince Snape to kill him. Reread how Snape kept his face full of hate and fury. In order to kill, you have to "really want to kill" that person. If Snape really did want to kill Dumbledore, why would it take him so long to do so? We saw how Bellatrix killed that fox in a flash. Why couldn't Voldemort's most trusted agent not kill something as easy as a man?
Snape knows something we don't and that's if he really is with the Order or with the Death Eaters.

well, i agree that he had to kill Dumbledore just to carry out a plan to save harry, but i have never liked him. i just dont know why. he relates to me as just another one of those high school teachers that favors people. meuff i hope he dies, really.

hes not good as in a just hero or anything, but i really don't think hes evil. I dont think he or his motives are as easily defined.

I think he is good. Some theories I've been reading have just made me believe that Dumbledore did want Snape to kill him. Sad but, well, I think its the truth.
