He didn't call.
He didn't send a card.
He sent money.
He didn't even pay for the ******** envelope!
He sent it with my Aunt.
I'm just so distressed.
I can't TELL my dad I hate him and I wish he would go away,
But I really do want him to.
I mean,
If he died,
I seriously doubt I would cry for more than thirty minutes.
As you may or may not know,
My parents are split up and my dad lives thousands of miles away in Barbados.
For the most part,
I never care about it...
But at the holidays and when we go to visit Barbados...
Its just horrid.
Two years ago,
He stopped paying child support AND helping pay for us to fly to Barbados.
Last year,
He sent my birthday card two MONTHS late.
This year,
He hasn't even BOTHERED to send a card for Christmas!
I know I can't change him,
I know I can't make him leave us alone,
And I most definitely know I can't make myself stop getting all sad when he doesnt care.
I guess I just want a hug...
Or maybe something to make it not seems SO bad that he doesnt care.

You are not alone; there are a lot of children with parents split up; with them not caring or trying to make the children pick sides. Ether one doesn’t care or they both lie to get your side. I know your pain.

You will get through this and you should not care for your father; you should forget about him.
The pain will pass; just hope that the pain passes sooner.

Forget my dad? Yes. You do have that option if you want to take it. It works for some people, but not everyone. Never feel like you have to like anyone or spend time with anyone just because you are related to them. If someone makes you feel bad about yourself, you're not obligated to be around them. We can't help who we are related to. All we can do is choose people to be around who do make us feel good, whether it is friends, family, pets, whatever, within reason of course. Sometimes we are socially obligated to be nice to family members whom we don't like, but if family members are ever abusive, neglectful, or otherwise really awful, I say never be afraid to ditch them. Like I said, that doesn't work for everyone, and that's ok. It's just that some people really want to cut some people out of their lives but they don't. It's like they don't even realize that they have the option to cut family members out. I just want you to know that you do have that option if you want to take it. Only you can decide if that would be the right choice for you though.

I'm twelve,
I don't really have that right yet.
But once I get old enough,
I'm going to see if I can get my adoption rights from my dad and then get re-adopted by my step dad.

I mean... my dad is hardly ever home now, buisness is getting tough.

But either way.. it always starts out hard. ;-;
It will get better. -- I know from experience. My best friends parents split up and her dad neglects her... he doesn't even buy her food. ;; She drinks energy drinks for breakfast and chips or a Granola Bar for Lunch and dinner. Dx

I'm sure your dad still loves you. He prolly has a hard time showing it. have you tried calling him and telling him how hes been making you feel?
