Beloved Werewolf

"Come now, come now..." Leboya urged, looking down at the little sets of paws that accompanied her from the roguelands and to her return to the sea, admiring each in turn. Her little self, her two handsome boys, and her youngest child, whom she kept close to herself, taking care of the girl's special needs. Nuzzling Nyemelewa, Leboya whispered, "Are you faring well, or would you like mum to carry you?", before she looked up to her other children, making sure that they would not wander ahead.

It was curious as to why she asked, however, as she was able to tell these things and what they were to do, though vagely, as if deja-vu, with the ability of a seer.

The beach of her own birth had returned into view of her life once again, leaving the bright lioness standing in the sand, staring out at it in awe. "Do you like the beach, kids?" she inquired, her tone being a release to them all to go play if they were to wish to.

Leboya, had someone she wanted to speak to.

The small purple cub let out an exaggerated sigh, but it didn't hide the excitement that showed itself in every clumsy leap. It was hot, he was thirsty, they just kept walking...

And he couldn't wait to see where Momma was taking them next! But he wasn't so excited that he missed his mother's whispered question to his sister. He cast her a sideways glance, part concern and part confusion. What was wrong with Nyeme? And if there was nothing wrong, why did she get to be carried? Kiju wasn't sure, but he thought he might be getting the short end of the stick. Unfair!

"Mum, what's - ... Ohhhh." Kiju's question fell off into a whispered exclamation of awe as he spied the waves. So much water... they'd never be thirsty again! He raced forwards as fast as his uncoordinated legs could carry him, undaunted by the size of the breakers as they crashed over the shore. His concern over the treatement and health of his sister vanished at the sight of something so... so huge!

With a small leap the purple youth plunged into the first of the waves and proceeded to take a large swallow of what looked like fresh, clean, wonderful water -

"Eeaugh!" Salt!

Nyem was too glad to stick close to mother, selfishly craving her attention at any time of the day when she could have it, even if it meant stealing it away from her brothers or sister. The young cub was often jealous and resentful of her siblings for bearing so much more resemblance to mother, and on top of that they had good health. SHE on the other hand, was smaller than her siblings, and only bore mother's tail fur and eyes. It steamed her something awful, and for some reason unknown she hated the heavy resemblance borne to the male that had skipped out on them in her eyes. A constant reminder.

Being the smallest and the youngest in the litter, it was a little harder for Nyem to keep up, but rather than confess this, she opted to hold out. With a silent shake of her head, she responded-- "I'm fine mum." --though once they did settle down, she hoped that she could secure a spot in mom's paws to sleep. She was feeling quite tired from their trek, but tried hard to keep up with the others for her mother's sake. Leboya was the only one that Nyem would ever listen to.

Kiju and his first hand experience with the salt water brought a giggle of mirth from the small cub, meanspirited though it was, one couldn't tell, for the laughter was genuine. It served him right for diving head in! Not that she wouldn't have done the same, but she hadn't, and that was what mattered. She leant against Leboya's forepaw instead, watching the others play. Would she ever grow out of being weak? Goodness, she hoped so...

Neoni'liga walked quickly ahead of Leboya and her siblings, always eager to explore new places. Although she had visited a beach before, she hadn't visited THIS one. It could've been a beach on the other side of the World for all she knew, although, they would've been walking for longer if that was the case.

"We're almost there!" She called back from up ahead, just before taking in a deep breath and letting out a long sigh. She loved the smell of the ocean, and was always most content with the sand between her paws. Smiling, she continued onwards, accompanied by a delicate clinking sound. The sound was coming from the necklace that she wore around her neck, the one that she and her mother had made. The various shells clicked and clinked together as she moved.

The happy cub remained blissfully unaware of her sister's plight the whole time, as she was a little too far ahead to hear her mother's whispers. As her brown and purple brother ran past, she giggled and chased after him. "You'll be soooorryyyy!" She shouted with a giggle, knowing that her brother was silly enough to drink the sea water.

Kiju hopped and spat and danced through the waves, putting on a show to display his incredible disgust for the taste of the water. His sister's giggling only increased his joyous game, and he started laughing right along with her, attempting to splash her with his paws. So ingrossed was he in his play that he was caught completely unawares when a wave broke over his head.

Before he could utter more than a faint, frightened squeak the cub was dunked and rolling with the wave across the shore's sandy bottom. Eyes wide, Kiju tumbled through a world that -would- have been a lovely, comforting shade of blue - if he hadn't been unceremoniously dragged into it.

"Ughughugh!" The purple cub was washed up on the beach a little ways away from where he'd dissapeared. Thouroghly soaked and dripping, he staggered across the sand and plopped down at Neoni's paws.

Red eyes met their match as he mock-glared up at his sister. "How come you knew all about the water?" His eyes flitted to the waves, which he eyes suspiciously. Kiju would have to keep an eye out for them.

Little did those foolish cubs and their mother know.... deep in the ocean... a terrible, flesh-eating creature lurked, ready to devour any dim-witted creature that swam it's way.

Well, sort of.

Sikulu had taken the opportunity to, once again, run off and explore his kingdom. Hey, he was gonna rule it all someday! The fiesty juvenile was brushing up on his swimming skills when he saw Kiju leap into the water with a goofy smile. This gave Sikulu an idea...

Swimming near the bottom of the waters, he managed to grab some kelp and seaweed. Add 1 cup of evil lion, 2 dashes of broken seashells, and what did you get?

"RAAAAAARRRGH!" he yelled, leaping out of the water near the cubs. The seaweed carefully concealed his identity, and the broken seashells looked like horns jutting from the slimy plants. "I EAT LITTLE CUBS LIKE YOU FOR BREAKFAST!"

Surveying her playing children as they romped about, Leboya beamed in pride, but was up on her feet in panic when her eldest went sweeping into the water. Nuzzling Nyem, she stated; "Don't worry, mommy is just going to make sure your brother is okay." before rushing off to find her son, heaving a sigh of relief when the boy washed up again and purred, nuzzling the side of his head from where he was on his sister's paws.

"You need to be careful, love. I don't want you being swept away by the ocean, now." she insisted, before looking to Neoni. "And I trust you to take care of your brothers." A smile came with this entrusted authority in her eldest daughter, before she returned again to her youngest's side.

Her laughing rung through the air at the sight of the 'sea monster' which had lept so unceremoniously from the water, the jellyfish beamed; "Oh little monster, do please refrain from eating my young. I would so hate for me to have to tell the queen that there is a ravenous child-eating monster out in her pride for us to deal with, no?"
