This is a question I've run into more than once. I tend to use my machines until they wear out, but these days, that can happen in an awfully short time, and it's so much cheaper to replace than to repair... So, how does one dispose of a laptop without damaging the environment? Or at least, without damaging it too much? This article discusses that question.

Wouldn't you just keep the laptop and use spare parts for other things? O: Thats what I would do, anyways. Thank you for adding me to your guild. (:

LOL! Yeah, using the spare parts for other things would be the most sensible course. But that requires knowing what to do with them--which I, alas, do not!
And welcome to the guild smile

I live in Tacoma, so anything that's worth a little bit that I don't want (not much) I can take to a pawn shop, St. Vincent de Paul's, or set it up on the corner with a free sign. biggrin 3nodding

I imagine my mother had something to do with it.

Starbucks had pamphlets at one time (not sure if they still do) of a company that came and picked up your computer(s) right from your house for a small fee, and disposed of the computers in a safe way.

you can recycle by bringing it to a near by hardware store. i scavange in mine because its easier to get wires from them strip them and use the bread boards for circuits. but the complicated things like the mother board or cpu idk much about but i keep them any way =P.
