I've never played the Otome PS2 game though, I've just seen videos of it on YouTube... talk2hand But that makes little difference since I own all at fighting games.
Ah, the reasons for getting my PS2 modified increase... sweatdrop

And I, too, must get my PS2 modded specifically for the purpose of playing this game into the night.

Now you've really done it, Lang.
Bari is too competitive and she fights dirty. She'll pull out your controller in the middle of the fight and leg-lock you, even if she's winning! Just kidding lol... ...only if she's losing.
I've played too many ROMs/Emulated fighting games to know she's an extreamly difficult opponent (but not unbeatable!) I'd say she's about as hard and as cheap as the final bosses on the hard difficulty setting.
I've played the Otome fighting game for the ps2 and was surprisingly good it with Tomoe, which was alarming but I never got tired of her crazy facial expressions and I wasn't too bad with Kruger either. Did you know Mikoto the Cat is an unlockable?

Besides, I don't need to be cheap with repeat one-hit-quick moves or pull out controllers to pwn someone's a** into the ground. That's what 22hit combo's are for.

Mikoto is an unlockable? Uugggnnn... you mean that stupid otome version of the cat in Arika's costume? I think I saw that in one of the youtube vids. I know all these versions of Arika are unlockable, so is Mai, Miyu, ULLLLTIMMATTEEE NIIINNAAAAA.... and... I think... that's it?
I don't care about the unlockables in this game, because Shizuru, Kruger, and CRAZY-Tomoe are already playable characters. And I have little interest to see Arika's face more than once.

Tochi - Gah. She sounds kind of scary. NO MATTER! I think I can out-cool her on this one. We shall see.
I'll beat her fairly... even if I must chain her to a wall in order to keep her away from me.

And yeah, I did know that Mikoto's cat form was unlockable. I unlocked her. cool lmao.
Tomoe was not too bad. Though, if you get in really close to her, she's essentially done for. -_- She's got slow recovery time.
And if you're someone like, oh say, ARIKA... you can just keep slapping her around so all she has time to do is say "HOW DARE YOU?!" lol...
Kruger wasn't THAT bad. She wasn't that great either. crying I was so sad.
I was hoping my awesome pimp Kruger would be amazing... alas, I knew it would never happen..... -_-

Mikoto is unlockable.
She's pretty fast, but like. Not amazingly strong or anything. I think it's just hilarious to watch a cat girly fight and flail at another character. It really looked stupid. -_-
And yeah, you can unlock Mai if you beat the game with The KRUGER. cool
And I think Miyu comes if you beat it with Shizuru? or something like that?
Bleh.
I really like using Mai. .. she gets Kagutsuchi... *_*
(AND TOO BAD FOR YOU SINCE ARIKA IS PRETTY DAMNED GOOD ... though of course she is because lol main character. -_- )

Arika is cheap but I can beat anyone with Tomoe. But I like beating her up more than I like playing as her. I almost always picked Tomoe as my CPU opponent to hear her freak-outs. Kruger vs. Tomoe?
No contest.
Natsuki was a character that took a bit of getting used to, I didn't find her to be one of those characters where you could just pick up and play, I had to practice a bit before I got good. But, I hear what you're saying. Mai was fun, Miyu was okay, and I have mixed reviews on hardcore Nina.
Good luck with the mai star battle duel with Bari-chan, I have faith you'll be able to beat her (as scary as she may be.) She has a huge exploitable weakness, if you find out what it is you'll win for sure. But I think you'll pwn her into the ground, because anyone who could unlock Mikoto-Otome-Cat (Getting 2000 coins in challenge mode AND buying the last figure) has got to be good. I think we are forgetting an unlockable character.

LAWL, what the hell. Why even bother with the Mikoto-Cat (or the 11358139581 forms of Arika) - why couldn't they unlock something better... like, say... oh... I dunno... AshiznatMecha THE ASWALD MEMBERS? (I think I'm the only one here who's an aswald fan...)
The last unlockable is... s**t, what's her name... blue robe... Lena S..Something!
Mai does sound pretty kick a** (for once,) do you get to use Kagutsuchi in combos and stuff?<3<3 s**t, I gotta play this game *more and more tempted to get that goddamn mod chip*
And main characters are only good because they're cheap. It's so easy to execute their moves and they practically auto-combo. They're well rounded too so it evens out all their weaknesses.
Speaking of weaknesses... stare Tochi, what "exploitable weakness" are you talking about? I don't HAVE any weaknesses! MY GAMING PERFORMANCE IS FLAWLESS XDDD (okay, tip, I don't handle grabs/throws very well.)

Huum, was this game one that had many moves with the buttons, or was it more like ooh those peice of s**t dragonball budokai or naruto fighting games where it's one move unless you can pull of ridiculous button combos?
I don't live in Japan the sequel like you guys. xd

Though I haven't played the game myself, If Otome is one of those one-hit-button-wonders, then it makes PERFECT sense why Lang would be so good at it. xp I hate games like that... though they're fun and easy, not very challenging at all.

Can you play as Miss Maria? XDD Maybe you can unlock OLD VERSION.
Seriously though, I really hate these DBZ-like games where all the action takes place in the air. It seems unnecessairily complicated and annoying to me, not to mention you can hardly see the characters because you're always so far from each other. I prefer good old-fashioned 2D sidescroller combat. xd
Controls aside, there's something about pixel art that will always seem so much more thought-out and artistic to me than cel-shaded animation.
