Just checked by Gamestop.com a little while ago and found that they have "Shin Budokai 2 Another Road" up,sheduled for a March 3rd release. Now i know gamestop can be fairly unreliable when it comes to these matters since they often post release dates for games when theres nothing to back them up. The only reason i find this a bit more believable is thye usually only do that with bigger production or name brand games like Final Fantasy and the like, but seeing as I havent seen anything of this yet from any news sites or elsewhere for now I'd say it's only speculation.

I find the title interesting though, another road could mean alot of things. It could mean their using it as a continuation of certian events in the series that have yet to be touched on,not quite like a spin off or what-if scenarios but something more concrete. Be awesome if they made it's gameplay like Tenkaichi 2 which yes i know would complicate things with it's lack of two anologue sticks for clashes and no L2 or R2 for descending and ascending/power dashing. Hm...with that mind a Tenkaichi for PSP would be rather difficult, can anyone think of any button combinations/layout's that could be used to make it work or perhaps an entirely new gameplay idea altogether. For me it would just make sense for them to keep T2's gameplay in mind since it works so well and has brought us even closer to truly realising DBZ's potential in the gameplay sense.

since the first shin budokai was released around the time of the american release of fusion reborn and had a story that included those characters and some of the same events I can assume this next game will be as strongly linked to the wrath of the dragon(which is a crap name if you ask me) witrh its release around the courner.

One thing that I noticed is that janemba was featured in tenkaichi before shin budokai came out and than he suddenly was in shin budokai, so if this going to be some kind of pattern than the inclusion of tapion can mean that tapion will be in shin budokai, and because shin budokai can only handle a few characters the inclusion of tapion would suggest a story based on his appearance in the movie.

there is no way, and when I say that I mean it, that the newest shin budokai will be using tenkaichi's engine and thats for a few reasons:
arrow Not Enough Buttons, even if you double up some stuff
arrow psp is not powerful enough, the ps2 is barley able to handle it
arrow tenkaichi relies too heavily to its large character selection that the psp's UMD's can't hold
arrow budokai on its own is registered to dimps through atari, if it were spike it would need a tenkaichi stuck in the title somewhere

as for the sub title it could mean just another dragon road which serves as the story mode.

as for gamstop usually hyping bigger games, dbz games are big too and for every post you make about this there are 1billion more, in a way our fanboys kick some a** in the anime or even game world.

Your right with pretty much all those points although i hadnt given thought to the release connection to suggest they'd use wrath of dragon as the major plot, and yes i also agree that is a terrible name for the movie seeing that it only has to do with Goku's final move which btw wasnt half as cool as it looked and sounded in Budokai 3 as they presented it in T2. Seeing that they didnt even call it dragon fist which was cool by itself especially how schemmel yelled it,which was also funny to watch in the bonus dvd i got with the special edition of B3 i was able to snag on it's release. Another thing, the UMD is plenty capable of holding more than the characters used in Shin one, they just decided not to and i dont agree that the PSP couldnt handle the hardware pressure of Tenkaichi's fighting engine since by looking at the specs and reading up on it it is technically as powerful if not more than the PS2,and that's gonna be painfully obvious when FFVII Crisis Core comes out but at this point no PSP game has really tried to push the envelope of it yet which is dissapointing. But agreed that the button layout no matter how they mashed it together just wouldnt work, that much in the least is pretty obvious although I tried to think of something to make it work out it's just not possible. Still it would be nice to see them try something a bit different for the gameplay than what was used previously to give us a more unique experience.

And also I didnt mean anything against DB's game series by saying it's not hyped much,it's just not hyped by the general gaming public although yes i know there are plenty of hardcore fans to back it....like us XD;; , but most regular gamers and critics dont give the DBZ game series much thought, hence the constant stream of reviews for the games that always include something like "Theres so much here for fans of the series although while the game is marred by lackluster graphics and gameplay any fan of the cartoon show will love it" anf man does it burn me when they say cartoon to identify it.

Theres only two buttons and an Analog missing from the psp. And so yeah. Plus, from what i know, I don't like the tenkaichi system. I think the PSP should grow its own system. But thats just me.....

I was thinking about how it could work and there are some less than ideal ways. here is the best one I came up with.

if anyone has any other ideas here is my button layout if you want to do one:

even with that. You haven't played the original have u? If you have, then you know the system they got works well with the psp. So I see no reason for them to use the tenkaichi system. Grr..lol

Not that I didnt like the originals,it's just i have grown pretty fond to Tenkaichi's so It'd be nice to see it switch to hand held form although as far as i can tell Sarriss' layout is about the best way they could do it although i dont believe it would work that well seeing as switching between the D-pad and nub that quick for ascending/descending just wouldnt work out. Although another option or two open up if they would go back to using hold x then <- <- to charge like in B1 through B3 but either way not to many good control options for a tenkaichi style. Hopefully now that their used to the psp's graphics and capabilities they can make better character models since upclose they looked like dumbed down versions of B3's models, and as far as I know i do believe they can use true cel shading with the PSP's processor but in Shin one the models had prefixed shading i think so it wasnt really true cel shading graphics. Be nice if they did the environments like the console versions as well since in shin they had a fixed plane surface and the background shifted around that plane but your characters never could truly reach that background. But hey hopefully some of these question'll answered if they start to release some infor and or screenshots soon.

Yeah, the game really didn't look good up close. But when i'm playing with friends and such we don't pause much so it didn't really matter. Would be nice though if it had true cel shading.

Also, I've seen some games empliment the SELECT button into stuff to. Its alittle wierd to get used to but its nice. Its close the the X[]O^ buttons. Like, In metal of Honor its used as jump, something that most games on the psp don't have, so it would be possible.

the only button overlay they could use would be with the R button because its only used one or twice in a match, just make it harder to break your own lock like in t2 you had to press back taget.

button overlays have been used alot on portable games since gba but tenkaichi doesn't lend itself well to it.

I also agree with you that there is no reason they would change it when it works so well allready, it may be that budokai's new home is the psp.

Very True. The PSP is a powerful machine and I can't wait to see what it has in store for DBZ...

Oh so true, too bad I've been saying that same thing except with different various games in place of dbz the psp's whole life. But this year looks like a good one for the psp, since good quality games are finally hitting it recently, although not completely in succession but it's better than nothing. Even squarenix said it'd be making some new releases for it soon, not including the ones we already know about.
