I actually would be interested in a show with the same setting as SG-1, but a different team, even if it were just the next SG-1. But I think it would be really cool to see a different team because then we could revisit a few episode through the eyes of a different team.

I have a feeling we will finally get Stargate Command.

I have a feeling the movies will remove from Play anyone not returning for the new series so they can launch a new Earth Based Stargate Show.

I have this really ominous feeling that the new series will be totally different, taking place in a different galaxy or universe.

I'd rather that they didn't start a third series. If they just focus on Atlantis, that would be good enough.

Ever since THE TEAM broke up on SG-1, I've just found it's been getting too... typical. It's like, I used to have fun trying to figure out what the heck is going to happen on SG-1 -- the writers were fantastic. Now, it's poorly written. If they can get the same quality of writers for the new one as they used to have for SG-1, it will be wonderful. Regardless, though, I'm going to end up watching it. sweatdrop

yea, i understand how you feel. i think atlantis has a bit of typicalness in it. the wraith dont have that much going for them, no originality, just life sucking aliens. i liked the goauld because they imitate gods, fight wars, enslave people, glowing eyes, egyptian names and links to ancient egypts. i'm glad they kept that with the ori, using some myths like arthur and exalibur and stuff. however atlantis lets me down every now and then, i start to get bored of wraith with no history.
I think Stargate Command might actually come around, and who knows, maybe it'll focus on Jack and stuff. i think they said they will bring in someone from sg1. who knows sweatdrop

Technically, Stargate Atlantis was the third series, and they're working on a fourth.

No one seems to remember Stargate Infinity, the animated series. Granted it only lasted like two seasons, but it had the potential to be a good series, if they only hadn't had to stick to the G Rating.

As for this "new" series... I don't think we'll see much happening on earth anymore. The series is over. The Goauld are history, the Aurai are basically through, and the earth is safe. Plus they've basically used up all the ancient legends other than the Titans. It's time they branch out and discover more.

What has the Sci-Fi channel been missing lately? BSG is basically a survival drama at this point, Firefly is gone (though that pains me to no end), and Star Trek is over, with the Star Trek movies all about wars and battles instead of exploring, like they used to. I'd say it's Prometheus's turn. It's high time they started going out and exploring the galaxy, like the Asgard before them, without real worry about Goauld, Replicators, and Aurai. It's been done before by Star Trek, Next Generation, and Voyager, but having the Stargate writers take on it might bring something new to the table.

I watch and like both sg1 and sga. So I'd be interested in seeing what the new series is about, as long as they don't forsake sga. I just hope they remember that they only get that $$ when they keep the fans happy and not for every new show they produce.

Infinity was a load of crap, it didn't even follow the Stargate plot.
I don't see how a cartoon about a bunch of crazy, psychadelic aliens going through different portals called 'stargates' that vaguely resemble them, in a rip off of a Sliders plot(heaven forbid they could ever 'remember' the address for Earth), could ever count as a Stargate series in any way.

*Ori, not Aurai. As in Origin.

Yeah, I didn't think Atlantis was up to par with SG-1. However, season 3 has been phenominal. I think because it's mostly character driven rather than "zomg!wraith" driven. If it continues along this line, it could turn out to be really awesome. Also, Atlantis needs some mythology. The closest they ever come to is the Greek mythology with the Ancients. But I guess it's hard to use Earth mythology if your show takes place in another galaxy.

Yup. And Infinity isn't canon. The producers had nothing to do with it. They said it themselves that the show isn't canon. So, yes. A THIRD Stargate series.

Well, I wouldn't mind a Stargate Command, or a Stargate Promethius (or is it Deadal US now?). But what would be interesting twist is if the public would finally find out about the aliens and the program. The hardest thing would be finding a new (well done) bad guy...
