Oooo that is a tough question. I am not exatly sure why anime became so popular personaly. I have liked anime since I was 6 years old. I think that I was hooked on anime because I was so sick of the annoying North American cartoon garbage (make no mistake I still think most North American cartoons are lame, and very annoying. Some are ok. Just not Sponge Bob Square Pants.) and needed something that had some kind of plot to it. Personaly I do not understand why people seem to have an attraction to a drawn character. That is just creepy.

Its the plot, The story line.. Its the fact that the next episode actually has something to do with the one before it. And they have vary compeling parts to it.. Most cartoons hear are all about violence and superheroes.. Anime Has more graphic violence, and most of it is fairly realistic. And everyone loves giant fighting samuria robots.. there just the s**t 3nodding

Anime originated in japan in the mid 60's just around our venture to the moon. Because Of this amazing journey that the astronouts made, and the fact that the countries were finaly comeing togethor, americans would visit Japan. In Japan they found many odd things, such as sushi, and odd shaped toilets. Another thing they found, while perusing the tv channels in there fancy hotels, was anime. They found it so amazing and inovative, that the brought it back with them. the first anime to be shown in america (based on what I know, not sure if im correct) was speed racer, the incredibly fast talking, fast moveing, 5 framed show about a late teen with a wicked car.. Also godzilla came over too... We had nacho's 3nodding

Cannot remember the name of it because it was pretty bad and quickly cancled

Anime is such a success because it's better than the drivel that North Americans come up with. (Not to say that we don't come up with some good shows, but on the most part, they're crap.)
