Forgive me, for i have a very unique style, but still, you guys needa get it through your skulls! Eyes shoudn't just be lines with cricles! No!!! No with exclamation points and one's! Ton's of ones! Dx
Heres a page stretching example of my Character's eyes. take a good look.
First off, one must keep in mind a simple fact:
The eye is the window to the Soul.
Draw eyes with care, and attempt to feel the current expression you wish to portray while drawing them, it helps alot.
Secondly, the eye's shape tells alot about the character. Large eyes with bigger pupils and rounder shape shows a kind of motherly care, where has thin eyes with tiny pupils are good for villains.
If you were to use the same, thin eye with a large pupil, you could get a rather calm looking character in itself. It all depends on what your going for.
Secondly, the highlights. Highlights should be added with care depending on where the current light source is coming from. Not ONLY that, but you mustn't have too large or too many high lights. Adding alot of circular highlights shows a more watery, or adorable eye, where as sharp, geometrical shapes in the eye can portray a sense of sudden awareness.
Again, Experiment and see what's best for your character.
Something else to say, try looking at real pictures, or your own and, and Draw that, then figure your own way to simplify it. Doing so can add a whole new level of detail to your style, and even could help you step over the line of Anime and 'My Unique Style'
