Does it ever bother you that some people think this is an impossibility? I've gone out with one Aspie four years ago, and one non-Aspie two years ago. The latter relationship continues to this day. Sometimes, it just gets ridiculous. I'm with this group for disabled kids, and I was on the phone with one of the people who runs it. The end of the conversation went pretty much like this. "Oh, and you can bring your girlfriend if you like. Maybe she'd like to join." "She's not eligible." "Well, what does she have?" "...What?" "What disability?" "She doesn't." "What do you mean?" "She doesn't have any disability." Shocked silence from the rep. She clearly hadn't considered this. "...Nothing at all? She doesn't have anything?" "Nope." "...Oh...Goodbye, then." This woman apparently didn't think me capable of interacting with people on any basis at all. Who's ever had a relationship with a non-Aspie? If so, has this happened to you?

Eh... I had several relationships, actually... all of the relationships I've ever had, the guy didn't have AS...
My Husband, however, does have a few... issues... but we don't let that hinder us in any way.
Honestly, AS shouldn't distate who you love, and who you don't... love is blind, remember?

I don't believe I've ever met another Aspie in person. Then again, I've only met one of my old girlfriends in person. sweatdrop

That woman seems a little judgemental...
I've never had a relationship with another aspie - have never met one in person, still. o.o; I think relationships with normal people are possible. If there are people that find our strange mannerisms cute, think our apparent coldness is a turn-on, or if they just think we're worth the extra effort, then why shouldn't we have relationships with them? ^_~
However, I do worry about it when I enter relationships - a LOT. No matter what people say at the start, I know it'll put a strain on any relationship. No more than any other "extra" like family members, long distance, or conflicting work schedules, but it will be there.

I'm a non aspie but I'm dating one online. He is the kindest guy I'll meet. Don't let this syndrome get in the way of who you love
I loved him long before I knew he had this and continue to love him

I've never gone out with anyone with anything more major than a heart defect or a bad back.
There are supposed to be like...tonnes of AS kids and so where the eff are they? I have met a total of one and am friends with 2. Neither of which I have met.
Damn!
But yeah, I've never gone out with an Aspie, I don't think I ever could. I couldn't stand someone like me....I'd prolly just laugh.

Aru? As far as I know, none of the people I have dated have had AS. That doesn't mean they were normal, though.

Unless you mean physically.... that's something I can't control, because I'm always cold there..... But one reason I prefer people online, is so they don't see anything like my facial tics, or the other things I do....

Harra_Wizen But one reason I prefer people online, is so they don't see anything like my facial tics, or the other things I do.... I used to have a sniffeling habit, and it has changed to a blowing out throw my nose thing, because I feel like I can't breath. I have to hold back on that a lot in public.

It used to hit things and so I noticed it until I discovered it wasn't just a tic and I let it out and now I sniff and my neck will twitch or my fist will clench and that is about the extent of it when I let it out. If I don't all hell of tics will come out, it is rather funny sometimes.

I find kids with AS everywhere. How can you guys not seem to find them?
Anyway, I've never gone out with an aspie. I've never gone out with anyone.
As far as tics go, if I've got them, which I probably do, then I haven't noticed them yet and no one has been bold enough to tell me.

My other side, 'Nubis, will get real pissy if I don't listen to him/her and will be angry and violent about everything, but I'm learning to listen and stuff cus he/she is actually quite clever. People are just a bit piss scared of me, that's all. Bar my best friend...
