Kat was limping, still padding along. She hadn't stopped for water or food since the meeting with that blackened god. She could still see him, she got paranoid at times, believing he was behind her. Watching her from teh skies even was a possibility. It scared her. She hurt, some tears were still rolling from her eyes. She felt like she was going to collapse anytime.

But she saw Pride Rock in the distance, not too far now, she would be at the rocks soon. She hoped she would find him, she needed his help. Kat was afraid to be alone now, afraid that he would come back, do something even more horrible to her. Her throat was sore from where he pressed down, and the sun was high meaning it was the middle of the day.

Would he be there?

She prayed he would be.

Getting to the rocks she peered around. Saw no one, nothing, except a lone butterfly, sitting on the rock she had found Ai behind, later sitting on. Its wing was injured, so it was sitting there, a sitting duck. She felt bad for it, a faint smile, then she fell over, almost passing out. She couldn't move, was so tired, so thirsty, so hungry.

But she had gotten here...she had some pride in herself for that.

"I--I need...you..."

His face still hurt, and Ai complained to himself about it, internally, as he made his new 'daily trip' out to the borders of what had used to be 'safe area' for him to wander out to. In growing older and being given more 'responsibility' (ugh), he'd been allowed to go farther.

Which is where he'd been, out to the further reaches of where he could go, screwing up his first attempt to hunt, getting the royal crap smacked out of him, and trampled over.

He was simply sore.

However, his vision was clear enough for him to see someone ahead of him collapse into the grass near -his- spot, causing him to take a few careful steps forward to investigate. With his distance, though, he was unable to fully make out the figure.

Curse people who blended in with the grass.

Wincing a bit at the pain in his ribs, Ai approached the area where Kat had fallen cautiously, peering through the grass, before a moment of shock hit the adolescent and who he saw, swallowing his pain to rush to her side, nudging her with his nose to see if she'd respond.

What happened to you?

She didn't really hear anything, it was hard to comprehend and focus on anything right now. She wriggled slightly on the ground, she thought she was still walking along. The heat was getting to her a bit, but mainly her head was just boggled from everything that happened. Kat's tail flicked to teh side. Then she heard something.

A voice?

She couldn't tell, was she imagining things? What was happening, she sighed and took a deep breath, and looked up. The sun was high, thus making the lion standing by her appear black..pure black...like him. She panicked and tried to stand up but it wouldn't work, so she curled up tight.

Would he hurt her again?

She peered up when nothing happened, and she could see clearly, "A-Ai?" she said softly. He had gotten so big! Was it really him? Regardless, she scooted closer to him, curled up tightly. It was obvious she was afraid, she was shaking slightly as well.

Ai took a step back at the panic which seemed to respond to his presence, pondering if he had done something, or if he looked like someone else (the growing mane might have been something to do with that..). He grew concerned when she went into the fetal position, nuzzling her side and standing over her again.

"Kat...?" he crooned, trying to see if she'd respond, giving the female a bit of a coy smile when she looked at him again, checking to see if it truely was him.

Remaining loomed over the cowering lioness, he nudged the side of her face with his nose, before wincing at the pain in both his cheeks and his ribs, doing his best to surpress it again.

"What happened?" he asked, before shaking his head. No. Bad thing to ask. "No... don't answer that. The important this is, are you alright?" the adolescent inquired, keeping one leg on both sides of her curled figure, trying to purr to be comforting.

Somehow, he felt like he was failing horribly. "Is there anything I can do for you? Can I help you back to my home so we're not out in the open?" He just started to spew suggestions. He wasn't sure what to do. It was strange, how much he cared.. at least.. it was to him.

She felt his leg against her and her shaking slowly started to dissipate. He was so warm, she breathed deep and tried to steady her rapidly beating heart. Kat was so afraid, so unsure. When he spoke and asked her things, she had to try and speak a few times before she got anything out, "H--he...he hurt me..." was the only thing she could say at that time, her mouth was dry. She curled closer to him, not wanting to be exposed, to try and hide under him even.

Kat made a motion to her leg, the one she limped on, her throat hurt too, but it hurt to talk, so she merely peered up at him, and placed her right paw at her throat and tapped lightly, to show where else hurt.

When he asked if she wanted to get out of the open, she suddenly began to struggle to get up, "Yes...he might...he might come back...I don't want him to...to hurt you either..." She peered at him for a moment, was he alright? She tilted her head at him in silent question, then did her best to push herself to stand halfway, she leaned against his side, and snuggled her face against his shoulder lightly.

She felt so afraid, so much like a child.

Kat wondered what Ai would think of her now.

Someone had hurt her? Ai paid close attention to the motions Kat made, his expression darkening. If -ANYBODY- came here for her, he was going to kick their asses. Didn't matter that he couldn't even kill a stupid herdbeast. He'd still kick their a**.

As Kat struggled to rise, Ai did his best to support her up to her feet, standing as sturdy as he could when all he wanted to do was lay in the grass and sleep. His friend's saftey, as well as securing her somewhere where she could recover and be hidden from the eyes of anybody who may have been after her was more important.

Purring at the female leaning against his side, the dark male took one step, making sure to wait and see if she could move with him. "We'll put you somewhere safe... then I'll go talk to the queen of the pride.. see if you can stay a while.." Ai offered, smiling a bit.

He was trying so hard to come to a solution...

but it seemed so strange that such a bad thing could have come with the return of the one he'd wanted to see the most.

Kat felt completely helpless. She leaned against Ai and calmed down a bit when he purred. So kind, so friendly just as she remembered him. She missed his voice so much, it had grown to become quite soothing. Somewhere safe? Was there such a place? She believed he knew of one, and took a step along with him.

Her legs wobbled, but she held her footing. She never knew how tired she was until now. How long had she been walking? She wanted water somewhat, but didn't remember how far away the watering hole was from here. "I'd like to...get water...later but..." she rubbed her cheek against his, "I don't want to...be alone...

he might come back..."

Kat was so afraid of what the god might do if he returned. She didn't know much about pain physically, besides tears, but this hurt so, so much more. But where would they go? "I didn't know where else...to go..." she felt bad she had come here, was asking so much of Ai silently.

She wished it didn't have to be like this.

Wincing a bit as more weight was put on his aching side, Ai took another step, again waiting for her to step with him. That was how he'd make his pace of supporting her while walking.

It didn't mean they'd get anywhere very quickly, as Ai wasn't exactly in the mood to move quickly, and luckily, it didn't see as though Kat was in the shape to do so either. "Water...?" he pondered over it, trying to think of how he would get water from the water hole to where they were going.

In fact, there was a little badly-drawn illustration in his head to complete the thought.

Another wince was met by the rub against his cheek, but he purred a bit, silently forgiving the bit of pain. "I won't leave you alone... nobody will get you. I'll make sure of it, alright?"

Ai'kunliu. Big warrior, BAAAAD hunter.

"It's fine.. you don't have to explain why you came here of all places.." he purred a bit, returning the cheek rub now. "I'm just glad I can be of help to you."

Kat looked at Ai, he winced Wa sshe hurting him, she tried to ease her weight against his side, though now she was putting more pressure on her hurt leg. Why couldn't she win right now? Why was she hurting him? "I don't want to hurt you..." She didn't know what was hurting him, but she figured she could try to not add to any pain he was feeling.

Oh no.

What if the god got here already and hurt him?

She felt a bit relieved when he said no one would get to her. She hoped so, she prayed for it, that they would be alright. Kat felt like this was the safest place to come too, she seemed to be right in her choices. Though she still felt bad for putting Ai through this, though she did hope that the queen would let her stay here for a while.

Kat was afraid to go out into the rogue lands now.

Kat stopped for a moment, she remembered this place, where Pride Rock was, the watering hole. But where were they going? "Which way?" she asked softly, not wanting to mistep and hurt herself..or him.

"Pain is natural, and mine won't kill me or cause permanent damage." he cooed, cooercing her to lean back against his side. He leaned back against her side gently, barely tapping against her for a moment, as to not knock her over, or worse, be a cause of pain.

Then, he nodded his head towards the large rocky shape in the distance. "We'll be heading towards there. Home. There are plenty of lions there, and I doubt any lion would try to attack us in the midst of a population." he explained his logic, continuing with the pattern of step, wait, later, repeat.

To him, his pain was nothing, and was more concerned about Kat putting weight on her injured leg.

Ai checked carefully the area about them, checking for whatever lion may have been sneaking through the grass. Since that's what he was looking out for.

A lion.

Not a god.

"If we just keep stepping like we are, we'll make it there in good time, alright?" he cooed, trying to play a good emotional cheerleader. He wasn't exactly doing the best job.

"Alright..." she soft. Her voice was softer now, she felt so fragile, as if she would break at any moment if she fell or got hurt even more. She had a bit of pride now though, stupid god that made her get hurt to gain it, but she had it now. Though she wished she gained it in a different way.

"I'll...try..." she would need his help though of course, she wasn't sure how far she could get on her own. The rocks? She wondered who might be at the rocks. The queen maybe? His mother or family? So many questions and thoughts running through her mind it wouldn't stop racing.

"We should tell someone though..about him...if he comes...he's so big...his wings are...are...huge..." she said shutting her eyes, an image of him came in front of her eyes. She wondered if she would be able to sleep tonight, or if she would have nightmares because of the god.

She just didn't want to see him again.

Didn't want him near her ever again.

Kat just wanted to stay here, stay with Ai, and be safe.

"Attagirl." he chimed, purring, leaning the side of his head against hers while he walked. This wasn't how he imagined their remeeting would have been, and he so badly wanted to just go and chase her assaulter down to maul his face off and tell her to leave HIS friend alone.

Kat's sort of day-dreamesque horror as she described the figure who would be coming for her, frowning. Of course he'd give warning of what was to possibly come.... but.. wait..

WINGS?

Okay, whoever it was, was apparently a god. Didn't matter to him, though. He'd STILL kick their a** for messing with his friend.

Nuzzling her cheek a bit, Ai chimed; "Don't worry about him." he chimed, putting on his macho front to play the role of the big strong hero. All he had to do was keep her safe, and kick some butt....

It wasn't going to be that big of a problem, he would think.

"C'mon.." he nudged her side a bit. "We'll be there soon, then I'll go talk to Kamilika and we'll get you settled until the danger passes."

Ai felt like he kept saying the same thing over and over again. It was bothering him. "Just trust me, alright?"

Kat didn't know what to say in response to anything Ai said, except his last statement kind of sunk into her. She looked up at him with hazel eyes, right then...she didn't feel alone. She didn't feel like she was a complete failure, she didn't feel like she had disappointed her family at all...she felt...

Safe.

She smiled and nuzzled her head beneath his chin as they walked slowly together, a soft purr in her throat. It hurt bit to do, but it was worth it, at that moment...anything was worth it. Ai said for her to trust him, she would. "I trust you Ai...I do..."

She would be glad when they got there, wherever specifically they were going. Then perhaps she could scooch somewhere for water...maybe catch something later...wait, maybe tomorrow would be a better idea to get food. She wondered if she would have to do anything like a test to stay here. Though Kat believed the queen would be nice, least she hoped so.

Things...were already looking up for her.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 12, 2007 7:41 pm

It felt awkward to have a female nustled under his chin, but he swallowed hard, keeping his head held up so Kat could nuzzled her head underneath it. "I'm glad you do." he purred. How on -earth- they were still able to walk in such a funny position was actually a hard thought to decipher.

The walk had felt like forever, but soon the pair were standing at the base of the large stone structure, the dark adolescent looking up at it in all it's vast glory. MAN that thing was huge. No matter how big -he- got, Pride Rock always seemed like it was looming over him... and sometimes threatening to fall over.

It was actually pretty scary to him to think of it as such.

".. Don't look up at it for too long.. you'll get dizzy.." he warned, chuckling. Ai knew that from experience.

"Now c'mon... it's close to the bottom.." he insisted, resuming is walk towards the overhanging projection of rock which stood as the 'playing ledge' he'd once spoken of.

"It's kinda out of the way.. not many people expect to find anything like it where it is, y'see?"

Kat nodded and didn't say a word, she was sort of in awe with Pride Rock, how huge it was. It really was -very- big. Bigger then she thought before. Did it get bigger since the last time she was here? She wasn't sure that it was possible, but she also thought seeing a god was impossible as well.

She tried to stay stable as they neared to rock structure a bit more, she wondered if she would have to walk on rocks...perhaps she could just crawl if she had to. She wondered how that would work out. she wondered who was around if anyone, why was it every time she came...no one was here?

Perhaps that was better for now.

SHe sighed and breathed deep, half yawned, she was so tired, so very tired. She flicked her tail to the side and walked along, limping the whole way. She wondered if there were mean gods, that there could be nice ones, perhaps ones that could heal her?

Anything seemed possible now.

Kat was just glad she had found Ai.
