[Ainsford is a rural village in the mid-late 16th century England, flanked by forest on one side and stretching out into farming fields - a manor house visible at the end of them - on the other. A small stream winds around the outskirts, leading to the mill at one end of the town. There is one main street, with a few small ones branching off of it. The apothecary, blacksmith, and other such establishments all line the main street. Among these is the White Horse Inn, a sturdy wooden structure marked by a sign with a picture of it's namesake]
[The interior of the building, while it's certainly nothing elegent, is pleasant and well-kept. The dining area is on the first floor, with the kitchens towards the back, a flight of stairs leading up to the guest rooms. Two doors lead off from the kitchen, one to outside, the other to a smaller set of living quarters, for those of the staff who reside in the inn.]

[Begin - Meeting Will]
*after stepping through the door in the Brink, Maggie finds herself right back where she was when she left - in the kitchen of the inn, the light from the rising sun just starting to shine through the windows*

*Bard falls to the floor with a crash*
Good heavens! Well that was a rough ride!
*he stands up and brushes himself off*
Are you all right, Miss?

Oh, gracious! *jumps slightly at his noisy entrance* I'm alright, t'wasn't much different for me than when I usually reappear here after visiting the Brink . . .
*brightens, smiling* But it did work!

*he smiles broadly* It did... It did at that.
*he takes a few cautious steps around the room. The floorboards creak under his feet. Everything seems a little off for some reason. It suddenly occurs to him just why*
Everything is so small.... I've heard it said that people back then... err now... well... that they're shorter than in my time, but....
*he looks at Maggie with some amusement* am I really so tall?

*looks up at him and nods, laughing slightly* Aye, that ye are. At least, for here ye are.
*glances around the familiar room, wondering how it all must seem to him* Is e'eryone as tall as ye are, then, where . . . er, when ye're from?

Not everyone, no.
*he examines a bench carefully, contemplating whether or not it would hold him before ultimately deciding against it.*
I'm fairly tall in my own time, though there are many who are as tall as I am, and a few who are much taller. We call them basketball players.
*he cautiously cracks the main door and peers out. He sighs deeply.*
Do you smell that?

*echoes to herself* Basketball players . . ?
*walks over towards the door, and sniffs the air experimentally. Nothing strikes her as being out of the ordinary, so she shakes her head* Nay, it all seems the same as ever te me.

Yes, precisely! *he beams* Pre-industrial Europe. You see? Actually, I don't suppose you do see.
My point is the air is sweet and clean. Not like in my time. No smog warnings or acid rain.
*he shivers* but I must admit it's chillier than I expected... what time of year is it?

'Tis mid March, now. But 'tis early in the day yet, 'twill get warmer as the sun climbs. The fire'll warm ye for now, if ye're cold. *motions to it, and in doing so, remembers the baking she was doing before she left* Oh!
*hurries to take the bread out of the heat so it doesn't burn*

*Bard stands about rather sheepishly. He's never baked bread before.*
Should I... err.. help?

Well, that part, at least, I'm good at.
*he looks around again with wonder*
It's all so.... fantastic!

Is it? *laughs again, amused by how enthralled he seems* Compared te what I've heard of the times and places other people in the Brink are from, I always thought mine must be rather dull.

Dull? Oh never! Far from it! Do you realize that there are people in my time who dress up and pretend that they are from your time? Grown adults! And I...
*glances down at himself*
err... I just realized... my clothing may seem a bit out of place here. I'm likely to cause someone a fright if they see me.
