The forest is located a bit south of the capital. It is vast and full of life. The trees are tall and green. If not careful, one could easily get lost for days, if not forever. It is rumored that these trees grew on the remains of an ancient battle and that the souls of those who died wander the woods. Usually if someone needs to travel beyond them, they hire someone who has been through or just go around.

The pale light of the early morning sun peeking through the multifarious branches revealed a the slight silhouette of a figure hooded in a large leather cloak. The figure moved almost silently through the early morning air, moving deeper into the trees from the direction of Peron. Having traveled far enough away from the city to be sure that no one else around, an arm pushed back the hood and revealed a distinctive tumble of silky red hair framing the somber, pale face of a young woman.

The woman took a deep breath of the clean air, the teasing hint of a smile haunting her lips as she did so. Reaching behind her shoulder, she pulled out a beautifully carved bow, obviously of very good quality. The young woman strung it deftly, then made her way cautiously to a nearby stream. Every few steps or so she would check the ground here, or examine the bruised bark of a tree along the narrow path until she was a stone's throw away from her destination.

Gazing carefully through the trees in each direction, she satisfied herself that whatever it was she was searching for was nowhere in sight. She then reached into a pocket and scattered a grainy white substance across the ground in front of the stream before scaling her way up an oak tree some short distance off. Concealing herself among the branches, she quietly drew an arrow from her quiver and waited.

A patch of grass freezes over on the side of the river oposite from the young red heads activities. Slowly Ontaros rises from the frost and stands facing away from the river. He brushes a touch of frost from his clothing and slowly walks into the woods.

The girl's interest piqued at the sight of the frost, and the strange man who walked through after it. It wasn't as she'd never seen frost before, but... in the spring? There was something different about that man, and she wanted to know what. Forgetting her hunt for the moment, she followed his trail quietly as possible from the treetops.

With soft footsteps Ontaros walks through the woodland, his head tipped back a little and his hands in his pockets in a very carefree aditude. With a deep breath followed by a heavy sigh, he stretches before taking off at a jog, heading futher into the woods.

Mid-stride, he takes the foot long silver rod from his belt and vaults some of the smaller brush and lands in an area that is more open than the rest of the wooded area. No sooner than he had landed the rod grows into the shape of a spear, with a very defined point to it. With a few thrusts and a quick spin of the weapon, the head of it becomes an elongated axe head, turning the weapon into a halbert. A few slashes and a jump kick later, the rod has now become a great sword. He continues for a little bit longer before he stops for a small rest. He seems to be thinking of something. Perhaps what next to train with.

Because the mysterious man started running, the girl found herself having to rush to keep up, consequentially making more small noises than she would have liked to in her hurry. When he jumped into the clearing, part of her wondered at his agility, and but at the same time her heart jumped into her throat. There was no cover. As it was he was far enough into the clearing that she would have a hard time tracking him if he decided to take off again.

Her curiosity was itching for her to stay closer, but she was terribly afraid of actually meeting strangers, though stalking them didn't seem to be a problem. She stood on the edge of the clearing, ducked behind a tree, her emotions tearing at her, when it occurred to her. He was obviously well-trained in a variety of weaponry, and he obviously had other skills. If he wasn't a crazy killer and was actually nice, maybe he could help her train for her secret life-goal.

Screwing up her courage, the young woman walked calmly into the clearing where the man had ceased swinging his strange weapon around and was simply standing there, staring off into the distance thoughtfully. She approached quietly, not because she was trying to hide anymore, but simply because it was almost second nature to her now. It was because of this that he still hadn't looked her way when she came up behind him and timidly asked, "Sir, where did you learn how to do that?"

She was still standing a small distance off, every nerve tensed and begging her to run for her life, but somehow she remained standing where she was.

Once spoken to, Ontaros spins around, his weapon returning to it's mundane natural form. His silver eyes looked into hers with a moments hesitation to respond. In that moment though his posture relaxed and his face lightened a little. "I've been training with this particular item for many many years. Thankfully I've rarely had to use it." He looks over the young lady and smiles softy, the same gentleness pressent in his eyes. "Is there something I may help you with or did you come out of hiding just to simply inquire that?"

The man's last statement made the girl realize that he had known she was following him for quite some time... perhaps the whole time. This made her blush a deep scarlet that almost matched her fiery hair, and she stammered for an answer for a while, but the kind look in his eyes as she searched for something to say had a strange calming affect on her, and somehow the truth just came blurting out.

"I was following you because I was curious about you," she began, "and when I saw some of the amazing things you can do I thought maybe you could help me... err.. I mean train me 'cause... " Her voice trailed off as she realized she was about to say too much, so she finished a little pathetically, "...umm... my name's Kalm."

Watching the young lady's reaction only made his smile stronger. Once she had introduced herself, he felt it only right that he volunteer his name. Holding out a hand to her he speaks "It's a pleasure to meet you Kalm, I am Ontaros." His head nods softly when he mentions his name, making the charms in his hair sway.

Ontaros's friendliness emboldened her further as did her fascination with him, and the blush in her cheeks faded a bit. Still a bit nervous, however, she managed to stammer, "I... uh... I was sorta wondering, the ice, y'know, by the river... how did you do that?" Kalm held her breath and hoped she wasn't being to forward.

He looks thoughtful a moment before replying. "It's simply a side effect if you will of my method of teleporting. Thats all." Smiing he demonstrates what he means. Suddenly Ontaros is nothing more than a fog cloud and the grass beneath where his feet were, freezes over. A few seconds go by and another patch of grass freezes over and he rises out of it like before.

Kalm's eyes grew large for a moment when he disappeared, then she smiled as he reappeared a moment later. "That was cool! I've heard of people being able to do things like that before, but I've never seen it." She looked at him hopefully. "Could you train me? I mean, well that is if you're not too busy... I guess you might be cause I've only just met you and I'm sure you were on your way to do something important..."

Ontaros replies after a moment of thought. "I doubt that you'd be able to perform that particular trick. Due to my lineage I am able to survive using the same spell to perform that technique." With what looks to be simply a deep breath he shakes his head. "And from what I can tell, you wouldnt survive the trip." The rod in his hands turns into a long bladed dagger, which he tosses into the air and catches a few times before turning around and throwing it, sticking it firmly into the trunk of an older tree. "As for my combat skills.... and my knowledge of the world in general, I may be able to.... but not without you volunteering one peice of information. What will you do with the tools I would give?"

Kalm chewed her lip in a nervous gesture when he asked the question. The answer was simple enough; she knew what she would do, and had known most of her life, but... what if he laughed like everyone else? Told her to settle down and get married like her mother, or to do something useful for her family the way her father always did. She sighed. There was no way she could let a chance like this pass her by without at least trying, whether he laughed or not.

"I want to become part of the Angel Guardians. It's what I've always wanted. I've trained myself mostly, but... I just can't do it on my own anymore."

Ontaros keeps a sincere face as he listens and smiles once she's finally said what it is she wants. "Angel Gaurdians huh? Would you mind sharing with me who or what this group is about? I'm not terribly familiar with them." He listens intently, knowing of them just wanting to know what precisely she knows about them before he fully makes his decision.
