To the west of Ranothor, in the part known as Enid, light had begun to fade from the sky. The large city of Daein was preparing for the night to come, sending little ones to bed while another being slowly awakened in the forest near.

Stirring from a dreamless sleep, the large wyrm's eyes cracked open, aware that the troublesome daylight was disappearing to be taken over by wonderful night. Stretching, the wyrm of darkness let loose a low yawn, wings folding against his back as he observed his surroundings.

The blood-splattered wyrm stopped moving, standing rigid and statuelike in his place. His eyes closed, and one could almost suspect he was falling asleep again. Instead, behind his eyelids, his mind whirred into motion. He reached out to the one that had always been there and always would, sighing softly as yet again she recoiled from his mind's touch, refusing to let him back in where he had been one thousand times or more in her lifetime.

What am I to do? He had a strong suspicion of what had happened, though he didn't dare to think that he had endangered her, the only one who had kept him in a constant state of peril since she had hatched. But it was, alas, her duty and his, for he was De'carn, Puppet Master, whose marionette had run off and forgotten her strings.

Finally. The sun seemed to finally set after an eternity of daylight. An eternity of keeping watch for them. An eternity of fighting for her life. The lycan halfling watched the sun set in it's final moments of the day, colors reflecting in her sharp golden eyes. The sounds of the hushing city rang in Senka's cloak-covered wolven ears, making her even more eager for the night to come. In her hand was where a switchblade was clutched, her knuckles turning white from her grip on it.

Her mind reeled with the memories of those who had tormented her for more then 15 years of her life. Wasted there, and not with the only one who seemed to understand her. Her gaze flickered over her shoulder, where the dark blue Wyrmess of Darkness was twined loosely around a group of rocks half asleep in the daylight.

The anger welling up inside her was released through stabbing a tree root with the blade, all her feelings of resentment were forgotten. The on-coming twilight attracted her attention once again, when they would both be at their full potential in the cover of night. When the Shadow Wyrmess' illusions worked best.

The firey shades of the sky went unnoticed, the yellow orb sinking slowly until it was beneath the horizon. It was time to move. De'carn was not swift, and trees, thorns, and bushes kept being in his way, sometimes stopping him completely. There were days when he wished he could fly, those puny wings just growing a tiny bit longer... but no, he was condemned to earth. Shaking his head, he got back to work, fighting through the forest.

A thud's slight echoes played to his well-trained hearing, his head turning immediatly to where it had come from. He slinked with almost a panther-like grace and appearance until he felt them, small pulses in his mind, lives glittering in the night far brighter than any star. He paused there, hoping to remain invisible to their eyes as his mind gently reached out, poking and prodding lightly to discover who was out when night reigned.

With a final stroke of her blade into the wood, Senka stood up as gracefully as she could. Her gaze flickered behind her again at the dark Blue wyrmess, feeling through their link that it was time. The blue mass moved, uncoiling around the rocks and moving to the highest on of the pile. The Wyrmess stretched her unfliable wings as far as they could, her jaw parting widly in a yawn to display a row of sharp, dagger-like teeth.

Sybrant closed her maw, looking down at cloak-clothed being that was her Bond with sharp silver eyes. The half lycan looked away, towards the ground. It was a habit that was installed in her before she had come to her rescue. She climbed down from her perch, towards her Bond, and firmly pressed her Bond in the stomach with her head. It is time, Senka. Her voice calmly stated, her mind working on easing the turmoil that had built in Senka's mind while she had dozed. Somewhere in her mind, a feeling of security went down. Shaking off the feeling, she folded her wings to her sides.

De'carn held still, poking about these two stangers until he suspected he knew what they were. A human girl, though there was something else as well, a hint of something else in her system and anger that seemed to fuel her for the moment, there was something that made her different.

The other there was no doubt in his mind at all. Pureblood wyrms were a dying breed, and it felt as if hybrids were everywhere now, when used to be crossed elements were something nearly unheard of. She was one of those born pure of blood, a darkness wyrm like himself. It had stunned him at first, crimson eyes widening until he decided that this was a good thing. Another in a population that severely needed growth. She was almost enough to distract him from the finding of his Night Rose, but alas not quite.

He peered out at the odd pair, large tail swiping at some leaves that kept brushing against his scales. Good evening. De'carn's voice was low and soothing, something you could almost swear was... just... imagined.

Senka blinked her mind still reeling despite Sybrant's effort to calm it. Had she just imagined...? She looked over at the sound of leaves being disturbed. So she hadn't..?! Cursing herself for not feeling his approach, she studied the Wyrm once more before looking away.

Sybrant casted her Silver gaze towards the voice, finding... another Wyrm? No, he was different... He was a wyrm of the purity of darkness. It had been a long time since her eyes had seen a wyrm of pure element, let alone a Wyrm of pure shadow. She continued to study him for a moment longer before a smile graced her features. Greetings and good evening yourself, one of the night.

The fact that there weren't arrows or spells flying towards him put De'carn at ease. He came fully into view, observing the two again. The girl didn't concern him... not so much as the blue lady did. She was... beautiful. Had his heart not already belonged to another, he might have gone out of his way to be with this wyrm. His neck bowed, front legs bending slightly. Milady, it is an honor to meet you. He was unsure of how else to continue, so he left it simply at that. There were some who did not appreciate others treating them kindly, and he silently prayed to the gods she was not one.

In the meantime, his gaze flicked to what he guessed was her bond. She was an odd little creature, to be sure, but already was she saved in his opinion. To bond with such a wonderous creature as a shadow wyrm, especially one that could make the night hold its very breath, took something inside that fleshy unscaled body.

Glancing at the Shadow Wyrm as he stepped out, she took in his full splendor. The remark left her slightly surprised and with slightly wider eyes, for no other Wyrm had ever talked to her like this. It made her feel... good, surprisingly. Like another Wyrm cared for her feelings. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance as well, my lord. I am Sybrant, Wyrmess of Shadow Illusions. And this is my Bonded, Senka.

Senka glanced up, hearing her name being spoken through her and Sybrant's mental bond. The eerie dim glow that cascaded off from Sybrant's blood-red markings made her golden eyes glow, though she did her best to hide the anger and pain that the hours of reviewing her memories had brought. She remained silent, and looked into the night of the forest.

I am De'carn, and I lack a bond to introduce. His voice sounded almost apologetic. He would have told her his title, but would that not make her wary of him? Deciever, puppet master, many didn't approve of such people or wyrms. Lovely names, ladies Sybrant and Senka. He said to both, the rune on his shoulder flaring in the night as if it had awakened behind him.

The girl once again attracted his attention, the vibes of her emotions reaching him without him any longer prodding at her mind. What a beautiful night. He stated quietly, finding his eyes drifting all about. All nights were beautiful, to be sure, but he lacked anything else to say. It was up to Sybrant and Senka to make this interesting for him.

A feeling of curiousity--wanting to know why there was no Bond, and why hadn't he a title--washed over Sybrant's mind, though was quickly swept away by anwsers of her own. Perhaps he had no title, and not all Wyrms had Bonds. She hadn't until up till near a year and a half ago... A pleasure, De'carn. ...And, thank you. The night is wonderful. She felt the confusion drift in Senka's mind at the compliment. The poor girl..

Senka felt confused. Why would he compliment her name? A name connected to a horrid past, it mocked her everytime it was said. Everytime Sybrant even said it, it tortured her very soul. She was a shadow, and that was all she'd ever be. A lone shadow, with no one to keep her connected to the ground. Not even supossed to exist, was what she had been told. "It's not a lovely name... It's a curse." She replied in such a low, acidic tone it took Sybrant off guard, leaving the Wyrmess to stare at her Bonded with widened silver eyes. Never before, had she ever hear Senka talk like that.

Interesting this promised to be, yes. De'carn turned his head at her words, aware that it was tilting to the side in a puppy-like way. A curse, milady? Surely not. His was a tone of interest, curiosity... Addressing people formally, he had found, never hurt. Show respect, and people will be more liable to trust, and trust was all De'carn sometimes needed.

How so?

"I am one that was never supposed to exist, raised by a family that never gave a damn. Who'd rather hurt then help. A family who had hurt me, physically, mentally and emotionally. My name means 'Shadow', befitting for one who should've never been born to this world. My mother told me to my face she hated me, that I was a drunken curse to her, and that even my true father would've found me an ugly half-breed and never take me in."

The words seemed to rush out in a large stream of burning, passionate words. Words that had never been truely spoken before, even to Sybrant. All of this had never left the confines of her mind. Senka was slightly out of breath, her mind reeling and leaving the information in the air. She had realized she had spoken of her true lineage to a complete stranger, a Wyrm of the night they had just met. But it didn't matter anymore. Sybrant had remained silent, though her expression was one of surprise.

At her words, De'carn closed his eyes. He didn't want to upset the child more than he had already. A curse it is still not. Is not a shadow the memory of something greater cast in light or perhaps glory? Maybe you are a pre-shadow, milady Senka. Maybe you are destined for great things that no one else ever realized. With the exception of lady Sybrant. He nodded towards the female, glancing down at the girl. He liked to sew chaos among the masses, but at times sewing delusions of gradeur could be just as fun.

I predict that someday, you're going to do something great enough that not one member your family will ever be able to outshine you. He wasn't a seer, but this was nice for now. Ealir was still out of his reach and on the move. He could catch her when she tired.

A shadow a cast of something glorious? Her, do something great? Maybe when she died, to save the world one less misery. "Sure, whatever you may say..." She muttered, turned sharply away, and resumed stabbing the tree. Yet, only in a low branch this time.

Sybrant sighed, looking at De'carn. She understands what you mean... She is just very touchy when it comes to her past.. She'll be okay. Sybrant looked over at Senka once more, before looking at De'carn. What brings you out here?

Ah, the question. He weighed lying and truth telling against one another for a moment before deciding to go with the truth. I am searching for someone, a dear friend of mine. I have been unable to make contact with her for quite some time, and it frightens me as I do not know how to find her. De'carn bobbed his head slightly, a frown passing over his maw. What to do, what to do.
