It's my own guild, and I'm not sure whether to put this here or in the poetry forum sweatdrop

Anyways, what do you think about poetry.com? Scam, or wonderful oppourtunity? If you don't know what I'm talking about, poetry.com is a website where people can post poems and enter contests to win prizes and "perhaps" get published. I believe it's a scam, especially after reading into people's descriptions of the whole process.

I say "perhaps" because no matter how crappy your poem is, they send you a letter stating that you will be published. And that you're nominated for poet of the year, etc. Want all the details, and you'll find some informative websites here.

Comments? Other possible scams you know?

That is true. I think the main thing is that they promised a lot and didn't live up to it (in most cases, I think, but that's just what I can tell from it). I saw one of the book pages scanned in, and the author of the website was saying how cheaply made it was for $50 a person. And with several thousand poems, about 8 or so a page, that's a lot of money to make off one book.

So maybe they're not a scam, but I've had some dealings with them, and they don't seem to be completely honest with everything. I suppose you could have a good experience with them, but if you'e not careful, you could probably lose a lot of money.
