I don't know my craziest house, but I've built a house for a sim the smallest I could possibly make a house while still having all the essentials.
I don't have that one anymore, though, because I deleted it. :C

I want to make a Sarah Winchester-ish house. CCC:

Winchester Mystery House

The story the official site gives isn't all that detailed, because they want you to go on the tour to find out all the neat-o information. (:

~clipped-out~

It's actually a pretty cool walk-through. I don't think I could ever sim the house itself, but I want to make a simhouse of same idea. biggrin DD~

EDIT: This site explains more, including the history and some of the house's oddities.

I used to do that with the sims1 when they had a house score. I got it down to a 3x7 trailer house! smile

my newest "crazy house" mission is taking this exploded cube we had to make a model of one time, back in my 1st design theory class, and making it into a sim house. Then I decided I would flip it on each of it's 6 sides and make 6 different houses! They all come out rather strange... yet really kinda beautiful in a way.

(I may or may not end up doing all 6... i might get bored with it before then!) Please rate them if you're a sims2 site member! Sign my gb too!

The exploded cube houses did come out very nice, Amanda. I particularly like the fountain and pool are on the bottom floor in a sort of... tunnel setting.

I was just sharing some house pics over at IGN yesterday and... well honestly I'm too lazy to put all of the pics up (plus they're large) but I will provide a link to the directory where I'm housing the current batch. I have many others, of course, that's just from one neighborhood. I believe all of the houses are unoccupied as well - I just built a lot.

I wouldn't call these crazy (though the asian-style compound is drivin' me crazy on the pagoda roofing) but it's all I have available for viewing at the moment. You can see in some that I've alreayd begun to anticipate the need for garages and carports when Nightlife comes out, but they're just serving as ordinary rooms for now.

thanks smile you've got some pretty awesome stuff going on yourself there... I haven't really tried to delve into the hardcore building secrets like the floorelevation stuff and the crazy roofing shapes. but how do you do the pools? the ones that are not just a plain rectangle?

Thanks. I'm presuming you mean the pools like the one with the blue house, where it's like several rectangles flush against one another to make a big pool? I'm guessing you mean that one because you don't get a good view of the center island with irregular edges on the "simple" house.

Anyway, it's basically just making multiple pools that are connected, but there's a trick to get the game to let you actually connect them. It doesn't take a cheat or anything, it's just about placement and timing. You may have to practice a little to get it down at first but it's really not hard.

Make a pool, that's an obvious beginning. Then you're going to make another pool but you want to start it on the side *opposite* from where you want the two to connect - don't start dragging yet though just figure out where you want to start it.

Here's the trick. Get your pool-making cursor over the spot where you want to start making the pool but don't click yet. Press the ctrl button to make the bulldozer icon pop up and HOLD that button down WHILE you drag your pool shape to point of connection with the first pool. Now the most important thing is that, when you're done dragging and you let go of the control button you have to be VERY careful not to move your cursor at ALL from that point. It won't look like you've made another pool but, if you've done it right and haven't moved your cursor, you should be able to click one on that exact spot aaand suddenly the pool will appear.

This probably sounds really odd without a visual aid. There are some tutorials with pictures on the exchange. Just search in the story section of the exchange for how to/tutorials on pools and have it rank them by highest rating. You should find them near the top of the list.
