So? What do you think of a punk show without any moshing? Not that it's not allowed, just not really anyone is moshing. That's basically what the last show I went to was like. Me and my buddy, and maybe three other people. That's basically what the moshing was made out of. Boring. All those psychobilly kids were getting angry at us, kept brushing their awful hair and pulling their collars up. Seriously, if you're so worried about your hair get to the ******** back.
We got sworn at, the kids flicking us off, glaring at us. It was stupid. A lot of em where all there together, this big mob of friends it seemed, and they mosh at other shows. But this last show they basically just stood around, watched their favorite local band, then The Massacres, and nearly up and left.
I mean, this old granny was moving more than them!
I guess it was just frustrating and annoying. I know a lot of shows would be pretty boring if it weren't for moshing, especially with the new local bands opening. Punk isn't the kind of music to just stand around and listen to, durr... I mean, c'mon!
Seriously...talk about ******** scene.... The more punk you look the less punk you really are...

Sorta like the show I went to last night... not cuz anyone wanted to be too cool, I guess people are just afraid to start, but the moment someone (in one case, me) tackles another kid, everyone would go ballistic. Which was awesome.

I can't stand it when people don't dance at shows. They make this huge gap in the middle of the floor, but don't do anything about it. But I'm typically the girl who pushes all her friends and rams into as many people as possible (in a friendly way, of course) to start things up. Shows are definitely not the same without pits, and I feel weird coming home without at least one bruise. This weekend along I went to two shows, got punched in the jaw, crowdsurfed, got in a chicken match, punched in the gut and almost passed out, and sat on. Good s**t.

Sounds like a good time, Jill.

Do you think it would be unfair of me to say that most of the 'punk' population are masochists?

You know it baby, pleasure through pain. wink

Hah, but seriously, I see it as a way we kinda communicate. All the hardcore kids I know complain about how we beat the s**t out of each other, but unlike them (who do the same thing but won't admit it), we always help each other back up and stand by each other. Yeah yeah, tru punx.

I don't mosh...
But, a punk show without a pit is odd too me, and makes
me feel uncomfortable.
I do dance though, at rockabilly shows...

I wish the show I had gone to was at least like that. I can understand timidness and everything, that's easy to cure. But when no one is ever showing any interest...man...just pisses a person off after awhile...especially when everyone's looking at you like you're insane for moshing.

I don't know about moshing, but any show where people are just sitting or standing is boring.
I like a lot of psychos. They're usually really fun and easygoing.

Sounds like here in Newton... We have a show tomorrow and there's supposed to be like 400 people there (I don't even think 400 people could find this hick town) so my friend and I are hoping for some moshing though most likely there will be moshing for 5 seconds and then it will breakup or they will tell us to get away from the stage and equipment again... All the lil "Punk" kids around here are pathetic... Makes me almost wanna cry...

Bahaha. So, I went to this show where our only mildly successful hometown punk band was playing with a bunch of other out of town bands. So, the first band went up, I had to start the pit. Second band, a friend and I started the pit AGAIN. Guess what happened third band? Yep, you guessed it. People are way too self concious, I don't really care if it's just me and a friend and a couple of other people dancing until more people join in....As long as we're having fun I don't give a flying f--- about what other people think. (Anyway, once the pit got started it was excellent. My friend ended up with a bone contusion and I went home and puked *thumbs up* biggrin )

Oh yeah, and people who take s**t seriously in the pit? Laaaame. Someone took being punched in the gut way too seriously and I had to threaten to kick everyone's a** before they shut up.

All in all, pretty good night. (The bands were pretty good, too biggrin )

The Shake-up played in our town; I got in the pit for most of it but there were a bunch of HXC kids trying to spin-kick... goddamn it.

DUDE, the Shake-Up is amazing, even though it attracts all the kids who like shittyxcore music. They literally live fifteen minutes from me, I used to be really chill with them.

By the way, what is it with girls and not dancing at shows? I saw the Boils on Saturday; my friend Sam and I were the only ones dancing half the time and at the end of their set they dedicated a song to us. Then during another band some old drunk skinhead comes up and starts hitting on me and telling me how awesome it is to finally see a girl dancing at a show. xd
