Okay, so I have an audition in eleven days [I have a different one tomorrow, but that's a different story].

Anyway, the problem is whenever I try to play the solo piece I ALWAYS END UP DROOLING!!! And then for some reason my arms just get so tired after a long time. >.< I don't know what's going on~! For some reason whenever I'm playing, I can't help but drool [it's so weird!].

Is it because I have braces?

I kind of figured my arms get tired because of Color Guard [600 dropspins on left and right arm a week does get tiring], and maybe that's why. But I don't know about the drooling. It's been happening a lot recently. But I got my braces a year ago, and this whole drooling thing has been happening a lot lately.

Wow that sucks! Does it affect the way you play? I should I ask my flute friend with braces about this..

Yea, it's so gross!!

My drool will make the plate waaaay too wet. Sometimes it affects my sound. >.< Plus it's gross!! Like when I take a breath, sometimes some of the spit will just fly back into my mouth [somehow].

Well sometimes saliva gets up in the frint of my mouth and hinders my sound, but when that happens I just try to swallow it at the next breath mark

That IS strange! I had braces, but I never drooled eek I don't know....maybe it's the way you hold your mouth? No idea. But I guess, as long as it doesn't affect your playing, it's ok.

It's a bit late now but if your arms still ache it could be because of the way you stand ;p

Have braces... never drooled. I think you just have extra hot breath maybe? I have no idea.

I have braces but I dont drool. Have you started any new tounging techniques? I started the "spitting seeds" tounging technique a couple months ago and when i first stared it, It did create a lot of saliva. If so, just keep practicing and it will go away soon

I find myself drooling sometimes too. I think it is due to my breathing pattern. I think the way I push air into my flute pushes the drool right out of my mouth. That may be what you are experiencing!

I hope you auditions go well!

The problem could be that you are getting thristy while you play, in which case just drink some water well in advance and it might help. Serisouly if I don't drink water I get thristy and oddly enough I drool more.

That's why I drool too. My teacher told me to strat drinking a lot of water about a year and a half ago because I was spitting on the high notes and drooling some. I don't do that anymore, because I drink at least eight glasses of eight ounces of water a day.
