Hello! Well, I was wondering if anyone here uses/has ever used this technique, and how they go about it? It's when you suspend a pendant (usually a crystal) from a chain or length of string and ask yes or no questions. The pendulum swings in a circle or side to side to indicate different answers (these signals differ from person to person)
Well, I've been looking into it recently and have tried it, but I keep getting strange answers... the directions for yes and no have changed a couple of times, and when I ask if whoever/whatever is answering wishes me harm the answer is usually "yes". From what I've read this technique is supposed to put you in contact with a deeper subconcious form of yourself, but again I keep getting the answer "no" when I ask if it is. And "no" when I ask if it is a spirit guide. I think I may leave it be as I seem to be getting bad results, but I thought I'd ask you guys for advice first. I've also tried a few forms of meditation and visualisation to clear out any negative energies, but everything still stays the same. I've looked around and I haven't heard of anyone else who's had bad experiences with this apart from me.

Did you remember to clense the pengelum first? That can affect how it works. Personally I've had four pengelums (they like to disapear on me) And have become pretty good at using one. It takes some time and practice, and isn't an instant skill (what in paganism is?) Big tip: Don't get frustrated with yourself, it will only make it harder. Try to keep your mind open and relax. I used to carry my pengelums with me in my pocket for a few weeks before ever using it, that way it is very in tune with your personal vibes 3nodding You might want to try that, or if you can't carry it with you all the time, try putting it under your pillow. That usualy helps too. ^_^

If it's just me needing more practice that's fine, I just don't want to do anything dodgy that could be dangerous sweatdrop I didn't think it would be something I'd be able to pick up and do straight away, it's just a bit unsettling to practice when I get such negative signals, it kinda freaks me out sometimes. I also don't really know how to go about cleansing it to be honest, do you have any advice in that regard? Thanks so much for helping!

Well, I would personally soak it in sea water under a full moon, then run it through fire to dry it.... but there are MANY ways you could clense it.. that's just my fav.
What do you mean dangorus? Pengelums are one of the safeist tools there are. I've never heard any stories of a pengelum hurting someone, anything bad hapening with a pengelum (other than a wrong yes or no question, and even then it was questionable whether it was truly a bad thing because a lesson was learned. )

Yeah, I tend to overreact lol sweatdrop Though I guess it's better to be safe than sorry! I'll look up methods of cleansing it and give it some more practice... I'm in uni accomodation at the moment which doesn't leave me with too many options open as to flames and stuff! We're not allowed to burn things crying Thanks again!

I've had stones change color with clensing, so maybe it did! I once had a quartz with a green thing growing in the center of it (in the middle of the crystal, totaly enveloped) and I used it for a healing ritual, and the green thing grew... It was totaly weird. 3nodding Stones are odd things, when you get to know them.

Ok, so I guess pengelums CAN be dangorus.... I was using mine, and I started to just watch it spin and started to meditate a bit, and that relaxed my muscles, and I dropped it on my foot!! gonk OUCH!!!
My pengelum is steel and VERY pointy... it made me bleed crying

ooh, painful!! *winces in sympathy* sounds nasty! Mines tiny and really light, which is a good thing cos I am a total clutz sometimes and tend to drop it on my feet even in full concentration mode lol!! If it's only a small cut and it feels a bit bruised, you could try using that Witch Hazel gel stuff if you haven't tried it already... though it might just be a UK product I guess, I dunno if they'll sell it where you are. It works really well anyway, and it works on everything! Minor cuts, big fat bruises, pimples, insect bites... you just rub some on and it soothes it straight away, my mother swears by the stuff now! They really should pay me for plugging their company lol! lol

Yay, I am so glad that I asked about this! I have two pendulums now, a rose quartz one and a tigers eye. The cleansing thing worked a treat on them both! I kinda improvised most of it... (that's not unadvisable is it?)
One I use for communicating with that more knowledgeable part of myself, and the tigers eye I intend to use to seek wisdom from my spirit guides as I'm having trouble with the visualisation techniques 3nodding Yay! I'm really happy mrgreen

Improvising is a good thing, it makes the spell/ritual your own, so it matches your personality and your energys, and it usualy makes it work better! It's good to coustomize a spell 3nodding
