Sorry but both titles didn't fit on the subject... So... I made this topic because unfortunately I haven't seen the old one "Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory" I've heard it's much better than the new one... But I really really loved the new one... What are your opinions about both movies?

You haven't seen the original? eek
*shock*
I freaking grew up on that movie!
Anyhoo, the new one was good, but there's no way it's as good as the original (Tim Burton is a bit of a weirdo and his movies always seem to appeal to goth teens, I find that kind of freaky).
Yeah, basically this topic is Johnny Depp versus Gene Wilder. Gene Wilder definitely wins when it comes to film adaptations of Roald Dahl books.

Rawr. As much as I love Tim Burton's stuff, (and no, Aaron, I'm not a goth teenager...I just like the old one so much better. I didn't like Tim Burton's take on it and I just didn't like the actors. Besides, Gene Wilder is just brilliant. Johnny Depp is great in darker roles, but Willy Wonka should NOT be a dark role.

i prefer the original, had a better Wonka, better look, better songs... and of course better Oompa Loompas.... oh and next time you make a poll in a thread, please dont put the ability for people to vote for BOTH of the movies... it takes away the reasoning...

I thought both movies were good for different reasons. I do think Gene Wilder is the superior Wonka, but I liked the ending of the new one. How it showed Mr. Wonka as a child.

I don't get your point confused What do you mean question you can put the choice to vote for only each movie, not BOTH... it takes away the point of this sub forum, which is which film the viewer preffered... if you put the choice to vote for both.. then everyones gonna choose that.. so next time you make a poll, only put The names of the films to vote on.. so a person can only vote on one film... its a rule

I also love Tim Burton's movies. As for the Charlie and the Chacolate movies. The both were good. But i liked the newer one cause it had Jhonny Deep in it and he was hillarious. x33 But the old one was still good, but i guess the newer one was wierder. (i like wierd, probably cause i am wierd lol)

I dunno I really like them both. The original is great, I grew up with it but I love that Tim Burton's version is a little more darker; you really start to think that Willy Wonka wan't harm to fall apon those kids and that I find funny lol but I'm kinda mobrid so...yeah...

Both films are great. Both have admirable qualities that cancel each other out for me.
Gene Wilder made a much better Wonka. I liked his Oompa Loompas better. Better songs. You seem to get a greater sense of Charlie being poor in this one as well. It's also greatly nostalgic.
However, I liked Depp's take on Wonka. I loved the atmosphere of Burton's and the fact that you see the history of Wonka, instead of him being a mere anomaly. And you see how Wonka seems to favour Charlie.
I enjoy both. It's hard for me to choose a better of the two.

The originally was extremely good... probably one of the better films from its time, so its no wonder there was a remake... Although I like the remake.. I would watch the original again but probably not the remake if that give an indication at all.

I liked them both but the original was way better The Oompaloompa songs in the fist one were way better and the reason they changed was because if they were kept the same the producer was going to be taken to court since the original songs were so Satanic I heard one on my friend's computer and if you listen close they talk about God leaving the child and what not

Both movies were good, but I'll have to say that the original wins by far. Don't get me wrong I love Johnny Depp just as much as the next girl, but I don't think he was as good as Gene Wilder. I did like however the extra information on the past of Mr. Wonka, because it gives you a background on why he was the way he was.
