*My guidance councilor said to me about two weeks ago*
So, doing a "College meeting" with my guidance councilor, he asked what I wanted to do with my life. (carrier wise that is) So I told him "Since I'm self-studying the Japanese Language, maybe major in that and then get a foreign language education license and teach it at a high school level. (Or secondary education)" Aside from him telling me that getting a job teaching that particular language would be hard in Connecticut, I think I creeped him out a little. xD
So, thread killers, what do you want to do with your life? What type of job do you wish to have and plan to aspire to? Have I creeped you out with my choice in "What I want to be when I grow up" like I probably did with my guidance councilor? Does Planet ask too many questions? =3
(If you plan to make fun of what I'd like to aspire to, well... you take your safety in your own hands as I cannot promise my gun will behave itself. Basically, *Safety not Guaranteed*)

Dude. This is so weird. I was just talking to my mom about this 3 minutes ago. anyway...I want to be some kind of lobbyist. I'd really like to be a tobacco lobbyist. I'd be good at that because I can explain the good side of the tobacco company very easily. They're not all evil and cancer anymore.
Also, Planet, your idea is very good but I know kids and I think if you want to teach a language you should try to teach college students. I think this because I've studied my Spanish class and I know that teaching teenagers a new language will be hell for you...or for anyone really.

I'm really starting to despise the "What do you want to be?" question. xp The easy answer is: I HAVE NO CLUE!! gonk I'm going to major in General Biology when I start out in college, but I dunno what I want to do with that. I love biology, but I know that I'm too lazy for medical school. I thought about teaching it, but then teachers are usually overworked and underpaid. And knowing how a lot of classes at my high school are, I dunno if I could really stop myself from going postal on a few delinquent students. So, I dunno. Also, it doesn't freak me out about what you want to do. If my school offered Japanesse, I probably would have taken it. Sounds cooler than french. xd

@Fenky: Part of the fun would be the challenge of the high schooler. That and I find them absolutely amusing after being around them for three or four years. xD
@Gen: Sorry about the question, it was the only good title I thought of when making this thread at the time. xP (I've heard it one too many times too). My school offered it for a time, but before I reached the grade where it would be available to me, the program was dropped. xP ('Twas stuck with Spanish for another year)
(I had a friend that said they could imagine me teaching it too... xD)

I'm majoring in journalism and minoring in English. I have every intention of spending my life writing, it's just a matter of what I write. I'd like to work for a gaming magazine, but just about anything would be good.
My wild pipedream is to write comics. I just wonder if people would be interested in my characters...
(this is Ori, by the way)

C. Brothers... That's cool Planet. I have always wanted to take a Japanese class, for I always wanted to learn it. My cousin and I were supposed to take a class that teaches us, but yea, really hard to find one where I live.
Ya, I'm starting too, like Gen, get mad at this question. But oh well, I kind know what I want to be more and more each day. I just want it to be with Graphic Designing and drawing. Basically any career with drawing. I also want to stay fit and if I do pursue in a career like, I don't want to be one of this fat guys who sits on their chair eating chips and blabbering on about lame stuff. (No offence to people like that, I just don't want to end up like that.)

Ah, a fellow aspiring comicker smile I could show you scripts that I've written, but you probably wouldn't find that all that interesting. I can't draw worth a toss. Fortunatly that isn't a huge deal in the world of Western comics. All I really need is an artist I get along with. Damn, if only I didn't idolize Neil Gaiman. That man can write anything and makes me feel inadequate. T.T

It'll end up between Garfield and Drabble if I write my own crap and if your comic is next to Drabble then you have failed at life. That's why my crap sucks.

I used to think that I would want to be a writer in the sense of being a novelist because I love to read novels that interest me. I also just in general like reading. I don't mind writing at all....when I'm in the mood for it and have the ideas already worked out. If the time doesn't fit either of those conditions, then my writing at the time wouldn't be so well. Yet, so far, the only two stories that I've written that I consider possibly good enough to be precursors to books or whatnot were done by me when I was in tenth and eleventh grade while in high school. One was an original story, and the other was a Legend of Zelda fanfic. I attempted sequels for both...but just stopped because I lost interest in trying to keep up with the writing. To sum it up, I'm a very picky and lazy writer. I don't like having to write research stuff just because I don't want to look stuff up. This is my second semester in college, and I'm seriously thinking that I should change my major because I don't really think I am that interested any more in relying just on writing...perhaps all what I've been told has finally gotten to me...such as that's a good hobby but it would be rough living on it or whatever. Yet, Gaia has brought out an interesting aspect in me...the fact that I like messing with numbers and stuff via the Gaian Market. I've taken computer classes in high school that taught how to use the Microsoft Office Programs of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Publisher, and enjoyed them. I am thinking that perhaps I should do something business or computer related.
I know of something else that I would like to be....but...that is not for public knowledge just yet.Raven, you should know what I'm talking about.

@Fenky: I can be funny if I want, but that's not really what I want to write. My stuff would tend to be more Dark Horse/DC Vertigo. Working for DC Vertigo would be orgasmic, if only because of my supreme nerdiness. I'd have been published by the company that published The Sandman if that happened. I'd fan all over the building.
Either way, Being next to Drabble would be better than being below Prince Valiant...
@Knil: I've had to do a lot of research for fiction pieces I've done before xp I guess liking to read and liking to write are two different things. I love to tell stories about my characters, although most of the time I end up doing it through RP. Genya and Dmitri are basically abrreviated versions of two of my main characters, after all...

Raven, you should know what I'm talking about.*Snickers at the subliminal message.* I personally think you would be good at game design or something like that. I've read your stuff, and sometimes it does seem to have the plot of a video game at some points. xd @Ori/Genya: I kinda know what you mean. When I try to write, I usually have plots too big for me to keep up with. Most of the time, I end up liking explaining my plots to myself better than actually writing it. It always seems way cooler in my head. xp

From what I've seen, video games are a good way to tell a long story in a flowing, non-episodic nature in a movie-like medium. I honestly think that what the industry needs right now is a bunch of good writers to come onto the scene.
oops, I ranted. I've been reading a lot of articles about video game plots these days. Got a little off topic.
Anyway, my plots usually end up being a little overwrought in my head, and I tend to get inspired by the wierdest things. I started creating a vampire character as a direct response to Anne Rice. And in direct contrast to her character Lestat, who pisses me off. But that's a long story that no one wants to hear xp

I think I'm curious now about why you now have a character that you've created that ticks you off.

Knil of 126 I think I'm curious now about why you now have a character that you've created that ticks you off. I have a character that's meant to be a direct contrast to another character that pisses me off. Genya is the Anti-Lestat ^.^
