Alright, this topic is in the Help and Advice sub-form, but it is not getting enough attention.

So basically I want YOUR opinion on us. (Christian goths)

Discuss:
Why you think it's okay.
Why you don't think it's okay.

Why not? Christianity doesn't have to be mainstream. As far as I know, that has never been a prerequisite.

I wish my family would let me dress how I like to when I go to church, they're so concerned about keeping their "status" and "image" in the church that I have to dress up every Sunday for church. Doesn't Jesus love me whether I'm wearing a Metallica shirt or a collared Polo? Why does it matter what we wear? My father says it's a respect thing but I'm not blasting my iPod and chewing gum during the homily! I just want to wear the clothes that I like.

Most Christians are leery (is that the word I'm looking for?) of goths/kids wearing dark make-up, tons of piercings, the spiked collar look, etc. because of the attitude that usually comes with it. As long as your heart is in the right place, God doesn't care if you're wearing a calico hoop skirt or a black trenchcoat. The only thing he's worried about is if your heart is for Him and your attitude isn't depressed. And if you are emo but don't cut that is fine, because cutting is mutilating your body which God says is wrong. If you want the verse I can get it for you, but God DOES say our bodies are his temple and that we shouldn't mutilate ourselves. That's my go xD

Jesus approved of cutting off of hands? Maybe as a punishment, but not out of depression or self pity. Our bodies are the Lords, and we should treat them as if they were! The Bible tells us to rejoice and make joyful noises unto God, be of good cheer, not wallow in our own self pity feeling sorry for ourselves and slicing our wrists.

ah...where? and I don't know if he did, but he made mention saying it is better to cut out ones eyes instead of sinning with them, however I think he meant that in a different sense...not literal.

Exactly!

I think Christian goths are fine.
We, as humans, look at the appearance and apparantly take people at face-value.

But they don't understand how people feel in their hearts.
Only God and that person themselves know.
And we should take that as the only think we need to know and leave it as it is.

I mean, there are all kinds of things. Normal Christians, Christian Preps, Christian Geeks...why not Goths and Emos? =[
