I thought I had a handle on my schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder. I thought that I was progressing through my avoidant and schizoid personality disorders. But then my friends pointed out somthing on a camping trip we were on (they know about my disorders): I would sometimes have a blank stare when I would do things.

I would do them (like hike or swim) and not be myself. There are periods of the week that I don't remember doing (Like there is a picture of me and my buds up on top of a waterfall that I don't remember hiking to OR climbing)

Is this another possible side effect of the schizophrenia? Or is this something new like a fugue disorder?

Wow, I don't know if I already told you this, because I know somebody else had it too, but it's very odd that they diagnosed you with Schizophrenia and Bipolar because Bipolar is an exclusion criteria for Schizophrenia!

Your doing things without remembering them sounds like a blackout. That's not a symptom of Schizophrenia. I've had the catatonic symptoms, and those involve you staying in one place and not responding for days at a time. And sometimes hallucinations or delusions will have you doing things that you are not aware you're doing, but it's not like you lost that time in a blackout, it's more like you were in a world of your own interacting with this world in an inappropriate way. The blackouts sound like a neurological problem that you should tell your doctor about. It might be signs of epilepsy or some other serious problem.

Do you have trouble sleeping? There's something I get which is similar which I've been told (though not by a proffesional) that is part of my brain going to sleep with other parts still awake!

I was diagnosed with schizophrenia before I was diagnosed with bi polar disorder. I even went to three different psychiatrists and a psychoanalyst to confirm it. One even said I was a medical anomoly
