Byakuya Kuchiki is the 28th head of the noble Kuchiki clan, one of the four noble families in Soul Society. As such, Byakuya acts in an aristocratic manner - always being serene and apathetic about other people. Byakuya is possibly the strongest person in his clan's history. He claims that life in general isn't supposed to be entertaining, and even made up an idea for a game that wasn't meant to be amusing in an omake chapter. In spite of his icy and regal manner, Byakuya cares for and protects those important to him.

His most powerful attack(s) are by far his shikai and his bankai.

His blade scatters into thousands of tiny blades. While the blades are supposedly too small to see normally, they appear as cherry blossoms because of the way the light shines on them. Byakuya can control the blades at will, allowing him to shred opponents at a distance and break through almost any defense. While Byakuya can control the blades with his mind alone, using his hands allows him to do so more effectively, making the blades move almost twice as fast.

Byakuya's final release, named Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (千本桜景厳, lit. Vibrant Display of the Thousand Cherry Blossoms), is simply a much larger of Senbonzakura's initial release. To activate it, Byakuya drops his sword. The sword passes through the ground and two rows of giant blades rise up from the ground behind Byakuya. Like in Byakuya's initial release, these then scatter into millions of tiny blades, giving Byakuya a drastically higher number of blades to work with. The number of blades is great enough that Byakuya can use them for defense as well as offense.

Byakuya's final release has two extra forms, achieved by arranging the blades in different patterns. They are activated by saying the name of the technique followed by the name of his final release. The first is "scene of a massacre" (殲景, senkei?), which unites the scattered petals into complete swords that form four rows around Byakuya and his opponent. While Byakuya can control these swords as he does his regular blades, he usually attacks with just one in hand. After immobilizing an opponent, he can call in the other blades to hit them while they're trapped. He can also use all the blades at once for one immensely powerful strike. The second form is "final scene" (終景, shūkei?), which condenses every tiny blade into a single sword to drastically increase its cutting power. The blade appears bright white, earning it the name "white imperial sword" (白帝剣, hakuteiken?). Byakuya also grows pure white wings and a halo-like circle in the back, both made of spiritual power. In the anime, dragon-like beings sprout out of Senbonzakura to create the wings. It is unknown whether these wings are merely a cosmetic effect or if they can be used to fly.

=Sesshomaru=
User Image
Sesshomaru is the youkai son of the powerful Inu no Taisho. Since Inu no Taisho is considered to be a daiyoukai (great youkai), Sesshomaru is a daiyoukai himself. He is mostly a calm and collected person who hardly shows any emotions and rarely laughs. He rarely smiles, and when he does, it's usually not a good thing; as once Jaken begged Sesshomaru to beat him rather than to smile because it was Sesshomaru’s smile that he feared most. Sesshomaru believes that struggle is the only way for survival and mostly throughout the series shows his contempt for Inuyasha, his half brother.

Sesshomaru has numerous attacks and abilities at his arsenal.

Sesshomaru's genetic ability is the power to transform into a gigantic dog demon whos saliva is extremely corrosive and deadly.

His weapons...

* Tenseiga: Tenseiga is a sword that can revive the dead. It does this by letting Sesshomaru see the pall-bearer imps that take away the souls of the dead so that he may destroy them with Tenseiga. In extreme cases, the Tenseiga also protects Sesshomaru from potentially lethal attacks. When in use, the Tenseiga has a blue aura. Lately in the manga, the Tenseiga is reforged by Toutousai to become a weapon allowing Sesshomaru to execute the Meidou Zangetsuha. This sword also has the name of 'The Heavenly Fang'.

* Toukijin: Toukijin is a sword crafted by the evil sword smith Kaijinbou from the fangs of Goshinki as part of Sesshomaru's continued efforts to obtain Tessaiga or a sword to rival it. It can fire off extremely powerful blasts of pure evil energy, but because it is filled with Goshinki's malice, only Sesshomaru can wield it without being controlled by it. Tōkijin can be used to blow back and injure an enemy with a powerful pinkish-purple aura, generated as the manifestation of pure hatred. It can also be used to slash at an opponent either directly or with kenatsu, and, like Tenseiga, can perform Sōryūha - however, being "only an oni's fang," Toukijin initially could not bear up to repeated uses of Sōryūha the way that Tenseiga could. During a recent arc of the manga, Sesshomaru broke Toukijin while battling Mouryoumaru, and afterwards abandoned the broken pieces with no further interest in keeping the sword, instead searching for a replacement which he found in the Meidou Zangetsu-Ha ability of the Tenseiga.

ok, basically to make a long story short everything sesshomaru can do in the anime and manga is what he is gonna use in this fight. Same goes with byakuya. Anime and Manga forms.

*No movies*

The fight takes place in a the middle of the day in a forest. Both contenders see each other and know a fight is about to take place. No ambushing and no one hit kills along with god modding.

Please give an explanation of how you think this fight will turn out and why. This thread probally won't be as successful as my other vs threads, but i will try.

Rules...

No noobs or anyone for all that matter shouting/screaming names out. You will be banned.

Thankyou.

I must say that I believe this one goes to Sesshomaru.

NOTE: This is one of the better threads I have seen in this section.

I disagree with you Rikeen. I see this fight going to Byakuya.

Strength: Though not a feat stressed in Bleach, I still believe Byakuya has above human strength evidenced when he snapped Zangetsu in it's sealed state in half. Now, he might have used his superior Reiatsu to accomplish this but it would merely supplement his own strength.
Winner: Until better evidenced his supplied, Sesshoumaru.

Speed: Both characters move at extremely high speeds and are nearly undetectable while in this state. Now, speed is a feat stressed in Bleach so we're in better water to determine a winner. Lending from the One Piece/Bleach debate Soru is viewed slower then Shunpo. Fast characters who don't use Soru are able to dodge gunfire a deal more advanced then feudal arms. Since there is no true canon evidence Sesshoumaru can block let alone dodge gunfire....
Winner: Byakuya

Durability: Both are tough naturally, but Byakuya gets a major defense boost with his Bankai.
Winner: Tie.

Technique: Sesshoumaru has youki assaults of his own as well as the ability to generate highly acidic mists and his ability to shift into his true Youkai form. Byakuya on the other hand, as a captain, knows several high level Kido spells which can be more destructive then most forms of Youki evidenced in Inuyasha minus the Tessaiga and Naraku's Kongosha spears.
Winner: Byakuya.

Experience: Both are stoic, sometimes arrogant and prideful men who think out their battles with every step. But Byakuya is much older then Sesshoumaru and is a trained soldier.
Winner: Byakuya.

Sword(s): The Tensiega is useless in this battle as a weapon seeing as Byakuya can tranverse the realms of life and death quite easily, nullifying the sword's ultimate technique. So this leaves Tokijin. The sword, though impressive pales in comparison to the Tessaiga.

Senbonzakura is a powerful sword and most likely one of the most versatile Zanpakutos seen in Bleach. In it's Shikai it's essantially hundreds of tiny blades. In Bankai is can become an entire carpet of these small, indestructible blades, dozens of normal size blades or the white Imperial sword which only hones it's cutting ability greatly.
Winner: Byakuya.

So that's 4-1-1 in Byakuya's favor.

If we take what Rukia said as not hyperbole, then Byakuya is at least.....210. This is taken from Rukia being supposedly 160 and her older sister died 50 years prior the main Bleach storyline.

If I may step in...

I'd say that Byakuya would probably take strength, actually. He clashes swords with both a post Urahara trained Ichigo, and a post Yoruichi trained Ichigo. Ichigo's lower end feats are on par with Inuyasha, and I think the fact that he can effortlessly block advances from Jidanbou would put him out of Inu's range. Sesshomaru's probably overpowered if Byakuya can hold his own agasint that kind of power.

Speed wise, I'd say they're about even. We never actually get speeds for Shunpo or many 'he's too fast to follow' characters in anime at all. Inuyasha was too fast for villagers to follow in the beginning of the series (and he does dodge arrows in there), and Sesshomaru moved to fast for him to see effortessly. Inuyasha doesn't emphasize the speed of Sesshomaru as much as compared to how frequently it's talked about in Bleach, but the feats are comparable. I wouldn't try and use another fictional Universe's technique to prove how fast one from Bleach is- it gets way too tricky. So, looking at just the feats in each respective Universe, Sesshomaru should stand up to Byakuya's speed. And I just looked up to the first post- According to Pym, Sesh gets all anime and manga feats, and so does Byakuya. Meaning that the filler episodes are allowed for this thread. In one filler Sesshomaru effortlessly deflects bullets while injured.

Durability: Sesshomaru by far. Byakuya had run out of fuel after two of the Kuroi Getsuga Tenshou Ichigo dealt in hollow form. Sure, they were powerful as attacks and from Hollow Ichigo, but Sesshomaru didn't even flinch as Naraku deflected a full powered Soryuuha back at him. Well, he did flinch, but that was all! Soryuuha cancelled out the Kaze no Kizu, which is Tenshou level. The poison that one guy from the 7 bandits was also ineffective, but I guess you could put that down to blood. Sesshomaru's healing factor also plays a part in his durability, and, from what we've seen , Byakuya's not got a healing factor.

Technique: Agreed on this parameter.

Experience: We don't really know how old Sesshomaru, but he's at least 67 , or, depending on when the fight takes place, up to 200 years older. If we're assuming the forest is in Feudal day Japan, then I could agree. But if Sesshomaru's still alive in Kagome's time (and Ichigo's too, probably) he'd be much more experienced. I'd call this one a tie either way, though. Sesshomaru was said to lead an army of demons at one point in the story and outclasses army leaders pretty well.

Swords: Tenseiga's pretty useful. Byakuya can't traverse the realms of life and dead without a Hell butterfly, after all. And then the Meidou also splits opponents in two any way that Sesshomaru cuts. Tokijin pales in comparison to the Tessaiga, yes, but that's only because the Tessaiga has gotten quite a power up. I can shoot out diamond shards and absorb Youkai energy before cutting the very essence of any Youkai Inu chooses. In terms of pure brawn, the Soryuuha cancelled out the Kaze no Kizu at one point, so it's at least up there.

Byakuya's Bankai has a lot of petals, that's true, but did you see the first episode of Sesshomaru's appearance? The Whip of Light should be appropriate for its Shikai. Bankai might be a problem, but Ichigo WAS able to outdash it for a while there. Sesshomaru could always go into his little pearl if things got too rough and then rematerialize after Byakuya thinks he's buried under a pile of blades.

I see this fight going like this: Sesshomaru would realize not to play when they clash swords and Byakuya over powers him, then he dashes back, only to find Byakuya's able to keep up with him. Byakuya starts demanding he stop running around like a scared rabit, and Sesshomaru obliges with a Soryuuha. This throws Byakuya off guard, but he Shunpos away and then releases his Shikai. Sesshomaru blocks it with the whip of light (after a few blades cut him and make him realize what's going on, of course) or dodges it. Byakuya now realizes Sesshomaru's not exactly an unworthy opponent and is about to initiate Bankai, but he gets pounded by another Soryuuha before he can. A Shunpo away gives him the second he needs for Bankai and Sesshomaru sees the blades and guesses what'll happen next. He goes pearl as the petals wash over him. He rematerializes behind Byakuya, and Byakuya catches his presence, but too late- Sesshomaru pounds him with a Meidou Zangetsuha and sends him to hell. Match end.

And yes, I have an overactive imagination. lol

Hmm, true, all of you have very firm points.
But, Kuchiki has something that Sesshomoru can't match. And that's his ability to initiate various types of deadly demon magic rapidly.
in fact, this is how he defeated Renji when he was completely overpowered. He used a quick demon spell, and just completely threw Renji's bankai away like rag dolls.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but just wanted to bring it into factor.
