Oh, I love The Secret Garden. It's such a wonderful story. Have you read A Little Princess?

Sarah Crewe it was called in the original printing.
Nope, never heard of it.
Oh of course, I love it, with all its pathos and tragic hopes, following what for England at the time was it's own version of the Iraq War and all it's evil consequences.
And the secret garden also had echoes of empire and its ilss, right at the beginning. I just saw the film again last night, on dvd.

Ah, I love The Secret Garden. It's one of my favorite stories. I read it when I was a kid and I wished that I could live in a giant mansion with tons of dusty rooms to explore and a hidden garden to revive. Then I read it again when I was older and could better appreciate the story and characters. And I still wish I could live in a giant mansion with tons of dusty rooms and a hidden garden. whee
I also love A Little Princess. I've seen both versions of the movie and I love them both.

Didn't Shirley Temple do an early version of A Little Princess?
I'm sure she did, and had a famous dance duet scene in it too, with an old British hoofer guy
