The Quibbler, 40pt each
A poorly-regarded magazine containing repeated accounts of the sightings of unlikely creatures and ridiculous stories about wizarding celebrities. Transfiguration Today, 30pt each
This is a serious magazine aimed at the dedicated Transfiguration enthusiast. Which Broomstick35pt each
A magazine for the Quidditch player and anybody who is interested in flying. "Which Broomstick" is a product-based magazine designed to provide its readership with the best information available about new broomsticks on the market. As such they flight-test products and provide information about performance, pricing, etc.Witch Weekly, 45pt each
A magazine for the middle-aged witch, concentrating on Gilderoy Lockhart, recipes and romance gossip, probably in that order. They also famously run an annual Most-Charming Smile award, which usually goes to Lockhart. The Daily Prophet, 50pt each
A newspaper Similar to Muggle newspapers, with black print on thin paper, but figures in Wizard news photographs move. Like Muggle papers, the Prophet features a crossword and even prize giveaways, in addition to news articles. Like any newspaper, however, the Prophet gains its readers at a cost-it loses the right to report the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Like Muggles, witches and wizards like to hear the dirt on celebrities and powerful figures, so the Daily Prophet star reporters use the sensationalist Quick-Quotes Quills to embellish stories and interviews.Ink
Appearance: The same as Muggle ink. Most wizarding ink has no specific magic properties, although there is such a thing as self-correcting ink which is banned from exams at Hogwarts.
Function: Used for writing, which often means long essays set for homework
Invisible ink , 50pt each
Colour-Change Ink, 45pt each
Red Ink, 25pt each
Other
*1 Wand, 45pt each
*1 telescope, 40pt each
*1 set brass scales, 40pt each set
*1 Set glass, or crystal phials, 50pt each set
*1 pewter Cauldron, standard size 2, 60pt each
Camera, 60pt each
Appearance: Wizard cameras look, and sound, similar to Muggle ones. However, they can usually get away with using older models. Function: To preserve historical and sentimental moments for all posterity.
How to Use: Wizard cameras presumably don't run on batteries, but they do require film. The procedure for taking photos is quite simple; point and click. Once the film has reached its end, though, it must be developed in a potion to make the photographed figures move. This potion can probably be brewed at home with the right ingredients.
Wizard Chess, 80pt each
Appearance: Looks like an ordinary Muggle chess set; however, the pieces are enchanted to move on their own and do battle with one another.Function: Recreational/Logic
How to Use: The rules of wizarding chess are the same as the rules of conventional chess. However, rather than the pieces being moved by hand, they are directed as though in an actual battle.
Notes: Wizard chess is a rather violent pastime. The pieces do real battle on the chessboard, physically knocking the other pieces unconscious in order to remove them from the "battlefield". While the rules and pieces in wizard chess are the same as those of its Muggle counterpart, the wizarding variety demands somewhat more of the players. In addition to the logic and strategy aspects of the game, there is a measure of trust involved also. The pieces have some level of independent intelligence, and thus must be commanded with authority and knowledge, or they may be likely to rebel. Also, having had a chess set in one's possession for a long time is a benefit, as one has the advantage of familiarity with the pieces.
Clocks/Watches, 60pt/70pt each
Appearance: Varies with the item.Function: Like Muggle clocks and watches, magical clocks can tell the "time" - however, many of them tell it in a manner vastly different to the type of clocks we know. These clocks can tell the alignment of the planets, give information such as "time to make tea", or even give information on a person's whereabouts, among many other things.
Omnioculars, 80pt each
Appearance: Used at the Quidditch World Cup and probably other major Wizarding events, these look like regular binoculars made of brass, but their sides are dotted with various dials and buttons. Function: The assortment of knobs on the Omnioculars can slow down the event being watched, spell out the terms and definitions for each maneuver, and replay exciting moments.
How to Use: Each dial has its own purpose. One focuses the Omnioculars and can zoom in to the players so closely the writing on their Firebolts can be read. Another knob slows or quickens the speed at which the spectator takes in the action. A button on the top provides play-by-play narration in shiny purple writing across the bottom of the lenses, and this also automatically sets the pace at slow motion. There is a replay button as well. The different buttons and dials can be used in conjunction with one another, to slow things down and replay an event at once
