User ImageThe rather small wild dog made her way through the night, picking off any meals another creature may have left unattended. This way of living made no difference to Hamaki, she lived her life how she could, and she liked it. Her mind was so riddled with thoughts of revenge and despair that she cared not about how much she ate nor how she looked. She was riddled with scars, the most prominant of them were the ones on her eye, nose and shoulder. She hated the inquiry of how she attained them, but when she unfortunately ran into someone they always asked.

Hamaki was rather unstable in her head. When she was a puppy she witnessed the murder of her entire family, and ever since she relived the experience every night in sleep. Because of it, she looked rather unkept and very tired.

The small dog made her way through the night, blending in well with her surroundings. Her white-tipped tail hung low to the ground as she walked softly, hardly making any noise on the tall blasdes of grass around her in the plains. She came upon the carcass of an animal, a gazelle by the looks, and she started to pick off the small amount of meat still left.

"No! No mama I can't leave!" Kip mumbled in her sleep. Her face was scrunched up in concentration though she was asleep. She was reliving that fateful night not so long ago where she left her family unwillingly. Her father didn't mean to hurt them, he just... did. Well that was her take on the whole situation.

She woke with a start as the dream came to the part that always made her wake up. She was breathing rather ragidly though not too loudly since you never know what might be listening during the night. She sat up a little and looked around through the tall grasses also listening for the sounds of anything nearby. The dark dog chewing upon the carcass of another could be heard better than it could be seen by Kip's young eyes.

The black dogs head snapped up right when she heard the small voice in the grasses. Large, wandering eyes searched the area, her nose picking up on any scent that came her way. Her large ears swiveled to and fro on her head as she listened.

Pinpointing the sound, Hamaki raised her lip to show her white fangs. A low growl escaped her as she made her way towards the pup with almost silent steps. "Who's there?" She asked, her voice rough and scattered, as if she didn't use it much, "Show yourself now!"

Uh oh.. This always seemed to happen! Kip wouldn't be doing anything to nobody and she'd still seem to get herself caught up in trouble. She heard the growl of the other and squeaked as she curled in a ball which seemed to be a constant occurence in her life.

((Okay then, if you insist ^_^))

As the grass parted and the small ball of pup was revealed, Hamaki's face went from one of anger to one of surprise. A pup? Out here alone? An intinct she had never felt before kicked inside her and she shook her head to get rid of it. Feh, a pup that she didn't know. It was probably bait to lure her into a trap! Those damned hyenas must have put her up to it... Hamaki's paranoid mind came up with more unrealistic solutions as she watched the brown ball.

"What are you doiung out here alone? I could have hurt you if I had thought you were a rabbit or even a hyena pup." She said, looking at the pup with a very stern gaze. "This is no place for lost puppies."

Kip poked an eye out from under herself. "Um.. er I'm always alone.." She ignored the fact that this dog could've hurt her, pulled her head out from under her and sat up quickly. "Are you saying there's a designated place for lost puppies?" That would be a most wonderful thing! Kip was awful tired of being lost..

Hamaki raised a brow at ther small dog, and shook her head. "Not that I know of, no. Go back home. You belong with your family." She watched the pup with her one good eye, wondering why she was all alone. Hamaki would give anything to have her family back. Perhaps the pup was an orphan like herself? Or maybe she just got seperated? Hamaki cared little either way, it wasn't her problem. But something stirred inside her and she tried to hold it back. A voice that told her to help the puppy. She fought it with all her will and it finally was silenced, but it's effect stayed and she wondered if she should at least help the pup get some food.

Kip sank back down and rested her head on her paws. "Oh.. well you see.... the thing is.." she started. She was not one to just open up to people and explain her whole life story especially if she didn't know them well. However, if she got a meal and another day of life out of it, by all means share it! "I can't go home. I left home because home wasn't home anymore. Home was bad and bad is not good so I couldn't stay there even though I wanted to. Mama helped me leave even though I didn't want to but she made me so I did and now I'm here."

She looked up at Hamaki with sympathetic eyes and hoped that made sense.

It certainly didn't make much sense to the dark-coated wild dog. "You mean something bad happened?" She asked, feeling sympathy for the, she now assumed, orphaned pup. She knew what it was like to be on your own at such a young age all too well.

With a sigh, Hamaki stood and motioned the youngster to follow her. "Come along. I found some food a little while ago. You should eat." She said, walking towards the carcass. "Where have you been living?"

"Yeeah I guess you could say that.." Kip got up and followed her. She made sure to not be too close, but to not stray too far behind. When she saw the carcass, she looked at Hamaki warily, then back at the carcass, then back at Hamaki, and finally she stared at the carcass before chomping down on the nearest bone with meat still clinging to it she could find.

With her mouth still almost full of meat she replied, "I jus kina liff anywhere I wan 'o." She swallowed and blushed for talking with her mouth full. "...Sorry. I shouldn't have done that..."

Hamaki was a bit surprised at the blush and manners this pup had. She watched as the little thing ate away at the bone, and she forced herself not to smile. She sat up straighter and nodded. "Don't apologize." She said simply, looking out across the vast expanse of the plains. "I will stay with you tonight, if you want." She said, not looking at the pup. "But I won't tolerate childish games nor silly questions."

Kip gulped down a mouthful and said, "Oh, sor-" She stopped herself before she did it again. To hide it, she took another chunk out of the meat, though her belly was already getting full. "I don't want you to have to watch me if you have something you need to do. I don't want to impose upon you..." She felt kind of bad already for taking her food.
