Don't scream "Lion King freak! Run away!", but have you ever noticed...

1. Scar's front claws are always out
2. Only lions have whiskers
3. Mufasa is the most realistic named character; yet he gets killed first O.o
4. Every animal with a speaking line is stylized. The rest are realistic.
5. All of the bugs in Hakuna Matata are VERY cute...
6. Nala is there, in that scene where Simba runs in to wake up his parents.
7. There are actually 11 songs in the Lion King, but the soundtrack only has 5 crying (Circle of Life, I Just can't Wait to be King, Be Prepared, Hakuna Matata, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Can you Feel the Love Tonight?, Nobody Knows the Trouble I've seen, Small World, The Coconut Song, and the Bacon Song)
8. The hyenas eyes turn huge and green when called upon to be savage (i.e., ripping up Scar, coming to Pride Rock)

Okay, hmm..oh have you ever noticed...

1. That Sarabi is not featured in Lion King II, was she there and they not show her, did something happen to her? etc.

2. How they never mention Nala's father, is he Scar, Mufasa, a rogue lion or one from another pride? I know there are fanfics and such but I have been curious about this for a while..

3. How exactly did Rafiki come to befriend a pride of lions, how long has he been with them?

4. How the other animals can speak with eachother and understand what they're saying. I could figure that lions could speak with lions (in one way or another) but with other creatures as well, and it's not all body language either, so how can they all understand? (Yes, I know it's a movie, but still..)

5. Like Rafiki's question, how did Zazu come to be the king's 'major domo'?

6. In Lion King II, how come Kovu was the only 'healthy' looking lion, was he treated better since he was chosen by Scar? and how could* he be healthier when none of his pride could travel to the rich, Pridelands to gather food to feed him, which would make him healthier. Is it merely to make him seem more 'attractive' or anything of the like?

7. So, is there an exact stating of Scar and Zira's relationship?

8. Who could be Kovu's father?

9. How from tlk to tlkII, that Nala's eyes change from a turqoise type color to a more blue color?

10. How at the end of tlk, when they present the cub how it doesn't even look like Kiara, is it meant to be her and they decided to change the looks or is it secretely another cub of theirs?

Post some more, and explain these...

Post some more, and explain these...

1. I believe that Scar's claws are permanently extended merely for the 'threatening' appeal of the villian. Also, it may be either something wrong with his paws or maybe in his past, or anything, that they stay out naturally from continued exposure of them. Perhaps he was used to fending off those who bullied him back then, there are many options indeed.

2. The lion's have whiskers because it is symbolic of the cat and isn't needed for the female's since you already know they're felines. and probably for the 'feminine' effect, is why the whiskers are left to the males.

3. Mufasa getting killed right off the bat definitly struck me with great emotion. Being my favorite character makes it even worse on my part, heh eh. His dying to save his son's life when in peril shows his devotion and selflessness to protect his kingdom. He truly was a great and noble king in the least.

4. I noticed that too! That the speaking animals were more stylized. Well, I think that it's a matter of exposure and the concepts of background and foreground. The things that you see the most are the characters and such in the foreground and since you're exposed to them, the creators want you to keep looking at them. and what keeps your eyes glued longer...style! Stylizing the foreground characters makes them seemingly more expressive and a sight to see, it holds your attention longer than a more realistic look, we're all so used to. I love the realistic style too, don't get me wrong, and it works great with the background, amazingly created with the believability through realism. Style catches your eye and holds it while realism soothes you and makes you think that it really could happen.

5. The bugs in Hakuna Matata are bright and colorful, very cute indeed. Since most people don't enjoy bugs or seeing them sliming around under logs, they cuten them up they make them more fun and bearable to watch. If they were drawn more realisticly, it'd seem more 'gross' than was needed to think of in an animated film.

6. I noticed that Nala was there too, near the beginning of the movie and well there's not too much to say about that. The pride lions sleep in their den and I'd say that having them all present, isn't too odd.

7. Ah yes, well I suppose they didn't put in all of the songs is because the others appear for only a brief amount of time and are not 'strictly' Lion King created songs, they're already songs. I know the Lion Sleeps Tonight is already a song, but I guess that was one of their exceptions since it ties in with the movie more than coconuts and it's a small world, lol, They also feature Lion Sleeps Tonight more boldly than the others and I guess they found it more catchy than the others. But that's for the creators and cd staff to decide. and The Bacon Song, I believe is a tlk exclusive song, but, while it is amusing, I would guess that they thought it wasn't needed on there in order to sell a good cd.

8. Indeed, the hyenas eyes do turn large and green during the scenes you mentioned. Once again, it's all about the 'effect' and the impact of the scene. I thought that that was a clever way of making that moment seem more omnious and mysterious. If the hyenas all had the regular, white eyes with pupils, I would be distracted, not as fretful, because I would think they were getting ready to speak or do something that might take from the spooky, looming mood of that time. The hyenas look more mystical and blend well with the background yet stand out just enough to be noticed, like a slinking shadow in the dark, that uncertainty and difference in overall 'appearance' make them seem more indomitable. They did well with these scenes using those altering techniques to put that 'dread' into the viewer.

*shurgs* I never saw TLK two, so I don't know about most of yours. But I shall add them to the first post...

But I tear up every time Mufasa dies too crying (He and Scar are my favorites, but he just looks so... cuddly) The reason he dies, though, seems very Hamlet to me.

1. I know, it makes no sense. I really think she should've been there!

2. Usually, the leader of the pride fathers them all. I guess lion siblings don't make retard babies like ours do...

3. I've been wondering the same thing...

4. Well, animals in nature do understand each other to some extent...

5. Definitely covered in Six New Adventures.

6. They fed him most of the field mice and termites...

7. If you watch the second scene that was cut out from the movie, Zira says "Oh Scar, my beloved..." So I think she was his queen, or was going to be soon...

8. Well, we can't use the retard sibling baby theory here. My theory is that a nomadic pride came through and the leader had sexy fun with the lionesses.

9. Production error. They obviously weren't the ones who worked on the first one.

10. At the time they finished TLK1, they hadn't planned on a sequel.

This is because shoretly after they finished the first Lion King movie, the voice actor of Sarabi died. And they decided to honor her by not putting Sarabi in the second movie using a different voice actor

Really? I thought Nala's mum's actor was the one that died.

And an actor's unability to act didn't stop them for "Morning Report" (eww)

I had noticed some of those... but not all, so nice one! mrgreen
Did you know the lion cub at the end of LK1 isn't Kiara? It's a boy apparently called Kopa.
Also, Scar's name used to be Taka biggrin

No, it's the lion king backstory from a novel series called 'The Lion King: Six New Adventures'. Taka means 'dirt' or 'trash' (so no wonder he changed it to Scar blaugh )

But I only know this from wikipedia rolleyes

This is Kopa:
