Who here can make people freak out by doing stuff?

Like I can make people start being all itchie, make them not move a certain part of their body, and see stuff.

Well, as far as power goes I'd be telepathic. That really doesn't freak anyone out because they don't know and I don't tell. Yet I use it to connect with certain friends on a more spiritual level. Oh, I have freaked people out with my visions of things that will happen. When they happen they get all weird...but not in a bad way. Just like..."I should have known because she told me so."

I personally don't use it intentionally, at least not most of the time, but I sort of go invisible (No, not actually invisible, it's just that people don't realise I'm actually there). I can sit next to a person for several minutes before they exclaim something like "Where did you come from!?

I do that all the time. You just concentrate that they can't see you.

Yeah, but there is a serious drawback to that. For example when I'm trying to say something, and I even yell almost straight into their ear, but with no reaction. The difference between when you do it and I (the way I get it) is that you actually intend to do it, when in my case it's more of a random thing that happens.

It would seem more logical to keep your abilities to yourself.
Seriously. When you are "freaking" people out you are drawing attention to yourself, and of course attention is all well and good and everything until EVERYONE wants to see what you can do and every time you talk to anyone they will ask you to show them. It will get old very fast.

Of course, I also have a huge phobia of being kidnapped by government agencies to be studied...

Fieryhexe,

eek You mean you have that paranoia, too? That's part of the reason I hesitate to practice in a public place... like my yard, or any room that has windows. The government's everywhere... ninja

(By the way, no, I'm not quite -that- paranoid. It was sarcasm. wink )

I'm not quite that paranoid either, but I have very little faith in the American government's ability to understand something like that. I think that if the government discovered that abilities like telekinesis and such was really possible they would use witches and gifted people as weapons in the next war.

From what I've heard (which is from non-confirmed sources, so this is a highly unreliable rumour, don't take it for fact), there are actually some small studies on paranormal abilities. Of course not in the freaky level that is often portrayed in movies or many conspiracy theory movies and such, but still. From what I've heard, it's rarely put to any kind of practical use because they have a hard time actually finding real ones that can really do things that matters, and out of those, even fewer that are willing to help them.

Either way, I don't know about you guys, but where I live, paranormal stuff is relatively accepted. I'm actually considering getting a job as witch. That is actually a real job here.

For most part I'd be sitting at home and talk to people who need help with stuff. I'd expect at least 75 % of them to want their future told, because that is the only use most "normal" people care about. As for the rest, I'd be recommending herbs, spells, and other stuff to people who need that. And if you look at my personal way of handling things, I'd most likely end up giving advice that don't need involvement of witchcraft. Especially since I prefer using those methods if possible (less effort, and higher sucsess rate for newbies).

Basically, giving advice relating to witchcraft, and at times helping out in person. Of course, the fact that I'm unable to find any store here that deals specifically with that kind of stuff makes things harder, even if I can get most stuff from other stores. Still, it annoys me that I despite seaching trough town for an hour for tarot cards didn't have any luck.

Fieryhexe,

Yeah, I know what you mean. lol As sad as it sounds, I really think the government would -do- something like that... *frowns* Forget doing 'public' studies to prove it's even possible... no, they want to waste their money on keeping it secret just so they'll have an 'advantage' in the next big war... confused

Duncan,

Aya, I've come across one article about a study about telekinesis... somewhere. The government did it to test and see if it existed, and if it did, if they could put it to a 'practical' use. It was released under some new freedom of information act or something akin to that. *shrugs* They contacted a bunch of 'known' psychics, but none of them would participate... *laughs* Ya know, if it didn't have the whole 'we might lock you up for a long time so we could study you' stigma attached to it, the government might actually be able to find people who would participate. lol

That's cool that you could get a job as a witch - it's really awesome! I might could get away with doing something like that here, but I'd be scared to... first, I'm not really that secure in the stuff that I -do- know, and second, I don't know enough. Then there's the whole 'I'd get really annoyed with all of the idiots who come up to me just to ask if I can see what the future of their current relationship will be' type of thing... I'd actually get really ticked off with it after a while. *shrugs* But that's just me.

Yeah, I can relate to the tarot card thing, LoL. I had to drive all the way to Lancaster (a little under an hour away from Columbus, Ohio, which is about two and a half hours from where live) just to get mine. Grr.

I think the perfect term for my negative ability would be "emotional fireball." When I get really frustrated with or ticked at someone, they're very quick to try to get away from me. And no, I don't raise my voice, make threats, or do anything that wouldn't cite a potential punch to the face (much as I'd like to sometimes). I think it's just in my face and energy. When I was in high school, another student made a rude comment and I *cough* shoved him into the instrument cubbies. But I was seething for an hour straight, thinking of all the ways I'd like to hurt him and how much I hated the suck-ups in my band. A week later, he told me, with a very odd look on his face, that he had a dream I killed him. I'm not going to lie. It made me feel pretty good. I just kinda smiled, said "Really," and went on with my day. So now I try not to think to hard when I'm truly angry. Emotions have energy and combined with a strong will and an active imagination, anything could happen. Granted, I figure that sometimes people have it coming, but that's not my place to decide and they're not worth my energy and time.

I felt I should put up a disclaimer. It's not often that I get to the point where I start throwing fireballs, though people have become adept at finding my buttons. Or maybe my patience doesn't last as long as it used to. In any case, no need to worry about the surrounding populace. smile That is all.
