Mirths room is simple. A desk and a chair sit in one corner, and an unused bed sits against the wall. The one shelf holds books from the library, and blueprints of the ship. Mirth stands up from her desk and puts yet another book onto the shelf.

Sam walks into Mirth's room and looks around and notices Mirth putting a book up.
"Oh, what book is that?" Sam asks.

It's an old book of myths from around the world. It's fairly intresting, but most of it is fictional. Mirth smiles at Sam, then crosses her arms in front of her chest in mock anger. You know, most people would knock before coming in.

"Myths about what?" Sam thinks a minue and processes Mirth's crossed arms.
Sam smiles cutely and tries in vain to resemble an angel. "And I'm so adorable that you love me anyway, right?"

Mirth sighs and uncrosses her arms Do you really need to ask? You know me better then that, I'd be worried if you did knock.
The book is called "The Gods of sleep" it's a collection of stories about dream gods and spirits of the subconscious. As I said, it's mostly fiction.

"I don't need to ask, it's just so much fun asking so I do anyway." Sam smiled nicely at Mirth now.
"What kinds of things in that book are real? I don't want to be possesed or something while I'm sleeping." Sam shuddered at the thought of loosing control of herself.
"And for the record, knocking is unsafe. It alerts potentially dangerous people to your position. How was I to know if someone had snuck into your room?"

I don't think you have much to worry about. Most spirits who do visit through dreams will not hurt you, it's the people who try to manipulate dreams that we have to watch out for. Have you ever heard of "The Fox, the Monk, and the Mikado of All Night's Dreaming"? Mirth asks, taking the book back off the shelf.

Sam looked at the book. "No, I can't say I have. What is it about?" Sam asked.

It's an old folktale from Japan. You really should read it.
Mirth opens the book to one of the many multicolored bookmarks. She then hands it to Sam to read.
Feel free to sit on the bed, I know I don't have many chairs in here.

Sam takes the book and sits on the bed to read the page marked.
"Wow, this is interesting. Where did you get it?"

The ships library. There are several good books in there, you just have to take the time to look for them. I've been doing research in there for a while now.

Sam considers that for a moment.
"Hm, maybe I should look there as well. Do you have any suggestions?"

Most of the books are on sailing or navigation, but if you look on the bottom shelves then you can find older research books. I guess that someone collected them while they were sailing around.

"That sounds interesting, I should look there for something. Tootaloo"
With that Sam walked out of Mirth's room to go to the Library and check out a research book.

Mirth puts the old book back onto the shelf. Then she opens a notebook, tears out a page, and begins to write.
