Mel has a slight sadistic side. This is cavalry warfare. This RPG will be based off of my novel: therefore, the names that I have already stated in the post ahead are names that are in my novel. This includes people, places, breeds, etc, etc (although, I did twist it so that Jakkey is also the wild horse trainer… I didn’t trust anyone to keep it realistic in THAT position, given the power it comes with). I shall provide maps. Rules: 1. Modern swears = not allowed. You don’t need to talk in older dialect, but you cannot be using modern swears. It gets too cussy during war if you do. Plus, Mediavel curses are FUNNY! 2. Once you join one side, you are not allowed to view the other thread. It takes the excitement out of the RPG if you know what’s going on on the other side. The most you are allowed to view of the other thread, is the first post. No more. Spies, however, are allowed to go and scour the thread for ONE session when sent by the Captain. Each session must start where your last session left off - no backtracing for missed facts! 3. THIS IS A REALISTIC RPG (other than the fantasy element). That means NO god-modding, and keep everything realistic. I’m putting limitations on the character’s powers, and I’m putting a limit on who can and can’t have powers, etc, etc. That way this doesn’t get all fairy-tale with unicorns-like rolleyes 4. If you are killed in battle, your status is put back to “soldier”, until you re-submit a form as a different character. You can simply keep yourself as soldier, but that means you are a normal person: no powers (if you have any, they are very small and minor, and you are only allowed one power), no special horse, nothing. 5. If you are commanding something, you are allowed to RP for someone if the need calls for it. Eg: you are an officer running drills. You can RP for your soldiers, and perhaps for another person who needs to have a discussion with you. You CAN NOT RP FOR SOMEONE ELSE’S CHARACTER. 6. You shall follow these rules or DIE xd … well, in the RP you’ll die =/ 7. EDIT: NEW RULE! If you have a long post, please do not reduce the size of the font. It's hard on the eyes to read. How the charges shall work: And so we begin! Properly tired, you hunch over the pommel of your destrier’s saddle, bowing your head against the strong, but warm wind that whips over the rolling plains. Arching his neck, the bold horse carries you at an easy trot towards the fortifications. The military station is huge: walls stretch to kiss the sky that is littered with dots of clouds that move swiftly east. Once you fall into the shadow of the station’s battlements, the wind seems to die immediately. Your tired mount brings you, almost automatically, to the front gates, where you are greeted by two armed guards. “Good day,” you greet, and hand the guards your form. The form that now binds you to the North cavalry. The guard looks over the letter briefly, before handing it back to you and banging on the gates, commanding the gate boy inside to open them. “Barracks are way back,” he grunts, “you’ll find out where to go. Just follow the road.” And so you enter Janore’s war. WELCOME: Welcome to the Janore cavalry. Currently, the Janore cavalry is locked in a vicious battle southwest of the military station. Things seem to be quiet now, but surely, they will heat up! After you store your pack in the barracks, and your horse in the stables, please return to this notice board, and fill out one of the below forms: Name (reflective of your position!): Gender: Magical status/talents: Preferred armor: Weapons list: Horse’s name: Horse’s breed: Horse’s magical status/talents: Horse’s gender: Rider description/link to picture: Horse description/link to picture: Position (job): Currently you are at a “soldier” status, unless our captain has stated otherwise. Activity in this guild/reflection of ability to lead may give you an officer’s status. From the point on from which you submit your form, you are no longer allowed to enter the territory of our enemy. Only spies shall be allowed to enter, for anyone else shall be seen as traitors, and risk being hanged. Current officers are: x.Marsh[mel]low.x (Jakena) When considering position, please take careful consideration before you fill it in, for once you are in that position, you cannot change. The current positions are (you cannot fill a position that is already filled): Captain (Jakena aka Jakkey - female): x.Marsh[mel]low.x Spy: Rynna - Horseluvrelisha Spy: Head healer (Setaro - male): War Mage: War Mage: Warhorse trainer (Chelsea - female): Wild horse trainer (Jakkey): x.Marsh[mel]low.x Mystical horse keeper (Elizah - female): Front line officer (Chase - male): Front line officer (Dayne - male) Groom: Messenger (Geoff - male): Soldier (can have as many people as possible): Each position can be played by either a male or female, though should you chose one that has a name, you shall become the gender of that person. The captain, Jakena Hentdisky, is a moody, yet giving commander. She is your leader, and you must follow her without question. She has power over anyone in the cavalry, reporting only to the king. Her best friend is Chelsea, the horse trainer, and together they walk all over the battle field. Under Jakkey’s direction, this cavalry has not once lost a fight, and we plan to keep it that way! Jakkey is a very talentless war mage: her powers are very minimal, and are not enough to cause substantial damage. However, if forced to, she will use them. Spies are very special. They are able to travel to and from the enemy side, but must express caution, for if they are caught: torture may be upon them. We cannot risk soldiers to rescue captured members. Spies must use their one view of enemy territory to gather as much information as possible before going back and reporting to their captain only. They have only one magical power - the power of silence. They can creep around unheard, yet not unseen. When spying, you should not post in enemy topic, for fear of giving away your identity. However, they may recruit themselves into that military, as a spy. If their recruitment is accepted, they can visit that military however often they like (cannot be one of magical status). The head healer, Setaro, is a healer-mage. He is a very talented healer-mage, though he is the only one of talent in the entire cavalry. His powers include healing cuts, setting bones, helping to kill viruses, and replenishing blood should the situation call for it. He cannot, however, replace body parts, repair ugly wounds, such as a man’s lungs being ripped, resuscitate the dead, or any other magic that causes destruction. He has a vast knowledge of medicines and is extremely talented at mixing them. His powers, however, will drain quickly if he uses them extensively. The war mage. A war mage has two larger powers: One, is the ability to light and throw fire. Each fire has a different color, varying for each mage. The two war mages present in the Janore military have two very different colors: one has a bright emerald green flame, and the other a violent purple. The other talent that war mages have is the ability to move object of the same size or smaller, at any speed they want, from up to a mile away. Their powers tend to last quite a while, but will dwindle if used a lot. Our horse trainer is nothing but the best: Deemed the best rider in Janore, she rides with precision and amazing balance. However, she has no mental connections with her horses. She also has no magical ability, other than her seemingly magical seat and hand as her horse proudly dances across the ground. Chelsea is best friends with Jakkey, and no wonder: she was Jakkey’s personal horse mentor. Together they make up one of the best riding teams you have yet to meet. Wild horse trainer: None other than our own Captain, the wild horse trainer is able to take almost any wild horse, and train it. Using quiet understanding and firm techniques, you’ll find any wild horse under her hand quiet and willing to ride, merely days after coming under Jakkey’s command. Her quiet yet accurate skill was gained from her best friend, and therefore their techniques are strikingly similar, although… she seems to have a mental connection with the beasts, that she herself does not understand. The mystical horse keeper is probably one of the most important horse-related job in this field. They must guard, safe-keep, and take care of every single magical horse in the military station. The mystical horse keeper must groom, feed, stable, and in any other way make sure these mystical horses are safe and secure… some people may want to sabotage them, for they are extremely important! Our front line officers are the most elite fighters in our cavalry. They are strong, heavily stocked with weapons, and are not afraid to speak out, and change frontline battle tactics. They are at the head of every charge, and shall follow their commander to the death. They have strong drilling schedules for the soldiers in their field, and train nothing but the best. They are hard but precise riders, and probably have the most fearsome charge of anyone in the cavalry. The groom takes care of the horses: He feeds them, cleans the stalls, brushes the horses, repairs the paddocks, and anything else you can think of to keep the horses happy. However, he does not care for the mystical horses unless the Keeper asks him to do something. Messenger: Geoff is a comical boy who likes to make wise cracks at any given opportunity. He carries messages with extreme swiftness, for he has the power of speed. He can run as fast as any horse, and when he is atop his brilliant horse, they ride faster than the wind can race. Mystical horses needing owners: Zhoen: Zhoen: Winged horse (white-grey): Aria66 Winged horse (Buckskin): Horse with described powers (not unlimited powers…): Zhoen are basically clawed horses. They have three claws and a thumb on each foot, and the first half of their tail is a bony extension of their spine before flaring out into a white, flowing horse tail. They are black with white manes and tails, which are not ever cut, and they have silver zebra stripes on their haunches. They are able to jump to amazing heights, climb trees, etc, etc… they have no magical powers, but they are extremely intelligent. Zhoen are ridden without saddles, and very gentle bridles, as they understand their rider’s needs very well. Winged horses are horses with wings: their power is that they can create fire, though they cannot throw it. If they so chose, which is rarely, they will connect with the human race through mindspeech. Everybody with every position and any horse fights in the war. Use your powers to your greatest abilities. People can be captured… once captured, you must not enter your own thread until people on a rescue mission enter the territory and save you. While captured, you are at the mercy of the side. Good luck, friend!

>.> I wanna play this one too... I'm gonna use my FAVORITE novel character! She's my baby even though she's not actually the main character. ^____^ Name (reflective of your position!): Rynna ("rin-nuh" with a short i) Gender: female Magical status/talents: she's sometimes a shapeshifter (depending on what game I play her in lol), but that's probably too "magical" for this and the whole point is going unnoticed, so preferably silence, then! biggrin Preferred armor: leather over mail (easier to move in than solid steel armor neutral ), boots, armguards. Weapons list: one longsword, two daggers (one on each side wink ) and a standard bow-and-arrow setup. She's no good with stickish things like staffs xp . Horse’s name: Osiris Horse’s breed: Arab Horse’s magical status/talents: none previously, but I suppose if I get what I want, it'd be good if he was silent as well Horse’s gender: stallion Rider description/link to picture: long black hair that cascades in loose curls, fair skin, and strikingly malicious blue eyes. 5'4"; slender but not petite, as this is impossible for a woman who practices swordsmanship as a hobby. 22 years old, vengeful, spiteful, haughty, and otherwise very rude and impersonable. This is a picture I used with her posts when I played her on my RPG. It doesn't show what she looks like, but it's wonderful insight into her personality. smile http://i1.tinypic.com/43yrs7p.jpgHorse description/link to picture: black, 15.0hh - very vain and powerful. Top-of-the-line at endurance. Other than those traits, he's really nothing like his owner; he's very friendly with people and very easy to ride as long as he's not blindly galloping around. Thicker and more muscular as opposed to the thin, leggy, straight Egyptian types. I found this on google. It reminds me of him. biggrin http://www.blacksilverarabians.com/images/stallions/tcbeycedar2.jpgPosition (job): ..Spy? PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE? It's the only thing she's good for besides killing people. biggrin

Jakena leans cautiously against the old desk, glaring at the maps spread out in front of her. "Honestly," she says lowly to no one in particular. Sighing, she straightens and saunters over to the arrow-slit window of her office, glancing out at the training grounds where rows after rows of mounted soldiers move in a steady formation. Slowly, she traces her finger along the window.
"Might be time to train, soon," she mutters, glancing at the sun, barely visible through the slit. "Ah, to hell with it," comes a low growl, "I'll go NOW."
Impatiently, Jakena strides across the small, stuffy room, and shoves the door open. In a proper temper about nothing in particular (other than the looming prospect of sending her troops into battle), she storms across the springy grass, to the stables. There she finds a wide stall where her strinking black mare and a firey chestnut gelding are munching quietly on hay.
"Hey, horse," she says lightly, leaning on the stall door. Both horses raise their head, but only the black one turns to come to the door. Slowly, the black, Midnight, raises her head and lips at the few loose strands of Jakena's sandy brown hair. The mare takes a hold of one of the strands, and yanks. "Quit," Jakkey mumbles, pushing the horse's head away. She grabs up a leather lead and loops it through the woven rope halter placed upon Midnight's head, and drapes it over the neck, rein-style. "Let's go."
After leading the horse out into an empty training ring, Jakena mounts bareback from the fence, and nudges the horse's sides. "Move, black."

There was always a fight in store for her; a good part of every day is set aside for one very large struggle. Mental reflection, one might think, a time to dwell upon her unhappy past and contemplate her innermost desires? Wrong. A random surge of violence which she fights to control; an inexplicable loss of her fragile temper that sends her off on bouts of fury and destruction? Closer. But wrong.
No, Ryn's routine conflict is a battle for control of that stupid horse. She doesn't know why she puts up with him; she doesn't even really like animals. A necessary evil, she supposes, for what soldier in her right mind charges into battle without a trusty steed? She'd like to right about now. The black stallion tugs on the leadrope, more or less dragging her in whatever direction he fancies. Being an Arab, his energy is boundless. She takes him out to longe or ride him once or twice a day as a means of outlet for him; only slightly less intelligent than stampeding into battle horseless is attempting to stampede into battle with a jittery, over-eager horse with too much pent-up adrenaline.
She'll admit that it isn't always too much of a hassle, though clinging to the longeline while Osiris sprints and bucks about is somewhat unappealing. Today is somewhat different, for today, Osiris has caught sight of the large black mare with whom he shares... the same barn. They're well-acquainted, but, well, with him being a stallion and her being a mare... she's the perfect distraction, and he happens to be finding her particularly irresistable at the moment, hence why he insists on hauling his poor owner through the pasture and toward the training pen at a very, very animated trot. Fit as she is, Rynna has to struggle to keep up, all the while attempting to throw all of her weight into jerking on the lead and stopping the horse. Her attempts are fruitless.
After being thoroughly embarrassed by this witless animal, the girl finally manages to curb his speed. After he reaches the training pen, that is. Apparently flustered, she glowers at the horse, quickly tucking a few unruly curls behind her ears. Her gaze darts from the pasture fence to the ground to Osiris and finally to Jakkey; she falters for a moment, struggling with her own words. When she finds her voice, she aims her speech - along with an eraged glare - at the other girl.
"Can't you keep your stupid animal out of the goddamn' way?"
With a final definitive scowl, she jerks authoritatively on Osiris's leadline and begins walking him back to the barn. It's another fabulous morning she's gotten through.

At the commanding shout, Jakkey jerks her gaze over to the side of the training pen, flexing her fingers back and bringing her cantering mare to a skidding halt, slidding up over the whithers. Cursing quietly, she pushes herself back and listens as the woman - no... girl? Perhaps a woman... yells... at her!
Jakkey narrows her eyes at the girl and allows her to finish her raving shout, and watches the young soldier storm away, dragging her fussing black - and beit small - stallion behind her.
Midnight lowers her head anxiously, yanking at the reins to follow the stallion for closer inspection.
"Quit, black," Jakkey snaps at the horse, not bothering to lower her voice, "you'll run the runt to the ground."
The horse again bobs her head, eager to move forward. Grumbling something coherent, as was becoming her habbit, Jakkey digs her heels into the horse's sides, stepping her, yet again, into the rocking canter they were working at before. Angry to think of the incompitant soldier-girl who had just the nerve to speak out against her, Jakkey gripped the reins tighter than neccessary, bowing Midnight's head towards her chest. As they fly around the ring, Jakkey keeps an eye on the back of the retreating girl and the stallion yanking towards the ring.
"Keep that horse checked, girl," Jakkey growls, "or there's going to be problems."
Trying to forget about the new recruits and soldiers she now has to work with, Jakkey transfers the heavy leather reins to one hand, and possitions the other at the ready, and from there, reins the horse around in a battle pattern.
Weave left, right, left right, turn... stop!
At that, Midnight's head goes down, hard against Jakkey's firm hold, and up go the haunches.
"YOU USELESS HUNK OF FLESH!" Jakkey shouts angrily as she slips from the horse's back, twisting around and landing heavily on her feet. Angered, she yanks on the one rein she managed to keep a hold of, and brings the horse close. "I can't have a moment's rest with what I have to deal with, can I?" she demands to the firey brown eyes.
The horse seems to almost smirk back, raising her head to sniff at Jakkey's hair as if nothing had happened.
"Right," Jakkey mutters, pushing the nose away. "Off we go again, black!"
With that, she mounts, and the endless training yet again begins.

OOC: Thanks! Do you mind if I try to find a pic?
BIC: Galwyn yanked her boot straps tight and quickly tied them. She hastened to stand and quickly proceded in leaving her quarters before walked out into the warm sunlight. "Today would be a good day for practice..." Galwyn mumbled to herself as she sheiled her eyes from the suns harsh rays. Ever since she had become a mage, life had been difficult. Her powers were stronger then usual, only because she had practiced extra hard during training. Now, she was in the real world, with real wars. Galwyn shooed at a fly before continuing on torwards the Magical Horse Barn. Today, she would begin bonding with her new flying steed.

After walking Midnight out, Jakkey dismounted and grabbed onto the halter. She had quickly tired of the mare's constant propping and prancing games, and where she had tried to find a break from preparing, she found a fight with her mount. Rubbing a hand over her head, she dragged the lagging mare out of the ring and towards the stable, where she handed the horse over to the stable boy with a grunting command to groom her and turn her out to pasture.
Jakkey turned, and jogged back to her quarters, where she found a message taped to the door, saying drills were in an hour.
groaning, she took off.

Carolane narrowed her green eyes against the strong gust of wind as it hit her. Her red currly hair blew fourisly into the wind and a shiver ran down her spine sending her to shake. She quickend her pace towards the stables. Not like the others that lived on the fort, Carolane was kind and gentle with the horses, especialy her speedy mount, Wind. Once Carolane got to the stable she walked over to Wind who was munching on his hay. Carolane clicked her tounge and whistled and Wind brought his head up his ears staying straight up listing carefully to Carolane. The 2 had trust in each other. Carolane opened Wind's stall door and tied his rope halter onto his large head and stroking his muzzle before grabbing tightly onto his halter and leading him from the stable. As they passed Ryn and her black steed, Wind tossed his head and pinnied his ears rolling his eyes, and quickend his pace moving into a fast trot. He hated other stallions. "Shhh, it's ok boy." Carolane said patting his silky neck. Once they where outside Wind pranced around exciditly, and Carolane grabbed a handfull of Wind's long tangle mane and swung onto Wind's back. Wind tossed his head and pranced around. Carolane kicked her heels into Wind's thick coat sending him to walk quickly.

Hinayn turned his head at the sound of a whistle, he was in the stables happily brushing his mare, Sonra, when he had heard the low whistle. "Now Sonra, don't stop that. There is no use going out in such weather, besides I still have to check my drill." He scolded gently as the mare tryed impatiently to push him out of the stall. Smiling, Hinayn walked out of the stall, and headed down the asile toward the door.
Once outside he quickly set his feet to see if anyone was out practicing yet. It took him a while to spot Carolane and her Shire, he smiled and quickened his steps toward the main building. Within a few minutes, he was inside. Walking down the hall to the left, then the right, until he was at his courters again. With piles of work already on the his desk, and the drills taped to the door.
