I just got back from baking pies at a friends house. It was fun enough, and he and I made some kick-butt apple pies. smile Basic, pretty, and all around great. Anyway. The scrumptious pies are not why I make this topic now. We went to his grandmother's house to make the pies. His grandmother is the old, know-it-all type, and every time either one of us tried to do something, she'd butt in and say, "Now here, lemme show you how to do this right." That made me a little angry, but I acted nice and tried really hard not to let her pushy nature ruin the fun we were having. Ugh. Pushy people in the kitchen is no fun. I've grown up in a kitchen that the family uses. Whenever we're cooking, we cook as a family and we help each other out. We use words like "please" and phrases like "you're doing awesome" because a friendly cooking environment is a important thing to us. So when I saw this lady being so a**l about everything in her kitchen, it really put me off.
Anyway, what type of cook are you? Are you a loner? The pushy type? The "Throw it in there" type that is really laid back? The structured group? What is your kitchen personality?

I'm more of a loner, but when it's group work and someone's slacking off, I whip them into shape.

Right now, I am the one recieving the advice, but when I see someone doing something obviously wrong, I say "That isn't your best action...did you want me to explain it another way?"

I would be a loner due to the fact that I am a speed worker. I prefer open pan cooking like searing and stir Frying. I would buy a Wak but the only thing could use it on is my grill and I live in kentucky, and our weather is screwy untill may and gets back to screwy in october. Anywho I hate to bake, But I am not a bad baker, just hate measuring and what not, lol. But I will if I have too.

I'm fairly laid back (and mostly, when I'm cooking, people either help chop veggies or clean things or scamper off elsewhere to lemme work in peace...). I like to hum sometimes and if somebody sticks around in the kitchen I talk them through what I'm making and pretend I've got a cooking show xd . The only thing I get very serious about is if I'm baking something and I'm watching the clock really carefully (but I don't get in people's faces about it or anything silly...I think I'm pretty bad at that anyway...). I'm used to cooking in a group as well as making good eats has long been a tradition in my family.

"Throw it in the pan, a little buffalo sauce too. Hmm, maybe steak sauce? Naw, peppers. Hmm, Onions will work. Beef! That should taste good...I think."
I'm the laid back type, and thats usually how my head works.

I gotta say I'm a loner. I cook well with friends, too, it's just that I'm a bossy kinda person.

I guess I'm laid back, usually people help me with the lil stuff but I'm in charge, lol I know what needs to be done and I do it. But I am a loner when it comes to baking... I have only met one person who can work with me when it comes to baking... and we are good friends now. XD
