Welcome. This is the back story for Archanum. So everyone understands just what is going on.

The exact year of the world is unknown. Everything is metered by before the old war, OW, or after the old war, AW. If a year had to be given it would be 80AW. Just 80 years after the old war that changed the world forever. Terra, the planet everyone resides on was a place of prosperity. The six lands (Best seen like our countries) all were prosperous with money and technology galore. But out of the blue the North Lands decided they wanted to control everything. They began waging wars on the lands to try and gain global control of Terra. This war was a technological nightmare. With many deaths, entire Lands crippled financially, and that feeling everyone got that military technology had been taken too far.

During the war people were introduced to a strange new power known as Archaic Magic. Every military power seemed to get this out of no where. As if someone had traveled throughout the lands and spread news and knowledge on this strange power. Fighters could use it to augment their abilities, elements could be shifted, and toward the end of the war. Demonic creatures and spirits were seen which all had a direct link to this Archaic Magic. The war lasted for 40 years and in the end there was no clear winner. The people picked up the pieces of their scarred lands and began to rebuild trying to think of rules that would make this never happen again.

Two of the main Lands. The Northern Land and Sialis. Were the only lands to begin rebuilding some sort of order. All the Lands are now controlled by some kind of military force. However the Northern Land and Sailis seem to be the only two cooperating with one another to make sure things don't get out of hand. The military forces went out over the Lands and spent years crippling military technologies. As well as establishing rules that said Archaic magic could only be used a certain way. It was like a global treaty that to this day has seemingly been followed.

Now in everything the people do there is military power. Even in children's schools military training takes place. Its not even strange because its just the way things have been since the war. Archaic magic is taught to students and soldiers alike but the rules of the treaty are never broken. The world itself is still aloud its technologies. But even older technological advances for military power like guns have long since disappeared. Some may still exist but Archaic Magic has advanced as well and it was quoted by the current leader of Sialis, "This magic may have more destructive force than anything we have ever invented."
