Hmm.... let's start with basic Ramones facts everyone should know.
Joey was the first drummer until Tommy took over and Joey switched to vocals.

But since he couldnt play and sing at the same time and the fact that joey couldnt drum they switched the members up.

Johnny bought his original guitar on January 23, 1974. A used blue Mosrite.

Johnny's very first blue mosrite which he bought from manny's guitar shop was stolen in early 1978.

I always thought that Dee Dee sang and played bass from the start. But since he couldnt play and sing at the same time and the fact that joey couldnt drum they switched the members up. I'm fairly sure John and Dee Dee both played guitar for a short while, with Joey on drums, Tommy as 'advisor' and maybe, was it Richie Stern on bass? I could be mistaken, of course.

johnny and tommy were both in a band during high school called "the tangerine puppets" Johnny played bass with tommy on guitar.

Johnny held no sentimental attachments to his instruments, but when he got the Mosrite he just sorta stuck with it.
