The Cage of Humanity
We have always been locked in our own cage
Hanging out of reach - the key to the door,
Eternally expressing our old rage.
We always fear to take the center stage.
Helpless and witless, we cling to the floor.
We have always been locked in our own cage.
As we begin to get wiser with age,
We begin to hope that there will be more,
Eternally expressing our old rage.
We are always told to turn a new page.
But so few wish to explore that new shore.
We have always been locked in our own cage.
There's something in others we cannot guage,
And that something can strike us to the core,
Eternally expressing our old rage.
It does not take the advice of a sage
to see the reason for eternal war.
We have always been locked in our own cage,
Eternally expressing our old rage.
