Mr. Holdstock writes of a world where supernatural and everyday merge, like King or Poe for instance.
His work is not horror as such but has great drama, depth and color.
The world he describes is one in which powerful mythic figures take over the basic substance of normal life, plants, animals and rocks, and turn them into the things of legend. People who get drawn in there face getting taken over and reshaped as well.
This world stretched back to the dawn of time, as all good myths do, and the poor couls who get caught in its web must make a terrible journey of the eons to be reunited with those who love and mourn them.
