Gray Acres Equestrian Center
RPG

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Gray Acres is an expansive area of land, nestled in the hills of Virgina. Here, young riders come to improve their skills, train for 3-day eventing, or board, and above all share a common love of horses.

Rules:
1)Play realistically please! Your 13 year old character and her Arab/welsh are not going to be Grand Prix showjump champions. This goes for making horse characters too, your characters horse isn't going to be a 19 hand high, silver stallion, with azure colored eyes, that wins everything all the time.

2)You can not control another players actions, or their horses

3)Be polite Out Of Character. In character, feel free to be a b***h if that's your character's personality.

4) Please clearly distinguish OOC (out of character) talk from In character!

5)No stutter posting. Try your best to post at least a paragraph of text at a time. Watch your spelling and grammar as well as possible.

6) You may have as many characters as you feel able to play

7)Use common sense smile

Character Name: Jonas Albrite
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Riding experience: High level intermediate rider. Has been riding since he was 5, and show competetively since 13. Cross Country is his discipline of favor.
Appearance: Jonas is quite tall and a bit lanky, he has short, dark hair and green eyes. He has a few freckles across his cheeks, and has a somewhatangular face. Jonas usually wears loose sweaters and riding jeans or breeches, with riding boots. Typical stable gear. He carries himself with a sort of confident ease around the stable, but out of the stable he has a less confident, almost shifty manner.
History: Jonas is the son of the owner of the stable. Gray Acres was established by his mother, dressage coach Johanna Albrite, when Jonas was about 5 years of age. They come from a wealthy inheritence, but Jonas is not spoiled as he has to buy all of his horses himself either by working at the stable, or getting a job in the nearby town. He showed competitively from a very young age, and it fairly serious about riding. He
Personality: Although patient with horses, Jonas has a tendancy to be short-tempered with people. He comes off as grouchy sometimes, and doesn't really have much interest in interacting with people, he much prefers horses. He is somewhat stern and serious for his age, and has an almost buisness-like manner with people he does not know well. With friends, he is more at ease, but is never really an overy social or life-of-the-party type person.
Job: Jr.Coach

Age: 5
Sex: Gelding
Breed: 3/4 Thoroughbred 1/4Clydesdale
Height: 17hh
Color/Markings: Steel gray, with high white socks.
Personality:Brave and headstrong, with a tendancy to be coltish. He is still very much a young green horse.
Strengths: Fast and hardy, tons of stamina
Weaknesses: Young and stubborn, somewhat unpredictable. Can be pushy to handle on the ground.

((Welcome smile Feel free to assume that your horse has already come to the stable, I'll add your character and horse to the list.))

Jonas stalked down the barn aisle, tapping a jumping bat against the leather of his tall-boots irratably. He had just come from a less-than-spectacular jumping session with Macbeth. The big gray gelding had basically lugged himself around the easy 2'4" course like an old carthorse, tapping rails and bringing down the top rail of at least three fences. Jonas was not very pleased. Maybe once Macbeth found a good leasor his work ethic towards jumping would improve...it had been a while since the big gelding had been leased, although he was still being used regularily for dressage lessons.

With a heavy sigh, Jonas headed to the tackroom, putting away his jumping bat and grabbing a saddle and bridle for Ghost. A nice ride on the energetic young horse would be just the thing to take away his frustrations. He wandered halfway to Ghost's stall before remembering what he was supposed to do today. Right. He was supposed to check if any of the new boarders needed help. He glanced around quickly and didn't see anyone. Well, if there was noone around how would he help them? Satisfied with this answer, he brought his tack to Ghost's stall.

The big gelding pricked his ears and nickered low in his throat. Jonas would like to think this meant 'hey, I'm happy to see you!' but he knew it was more likely a 'hey, what did you bring me?'. He fished a carrot out of his pocket and held it up to the gelding, who devoured it eagerly before looking to Jonas for more.

"Sorry Ghost, that's all you get, porkchop." Ghost looked insulted, and held his head up out of reach as Jonas went in and tried to slip his halter on.

"Come on. I'm sorry. Don't you want to go out?" Ghost seemed to consider this for a while, eyeing Jonas from the corner of his eye, before giving in and shoving his big face roughly into the leather halter. Jonas gave him a pat on his glossy shoulder, and led him out into the crossties. He grabbed a brush and began to skim over the gelding's sleek sides. GHost bobbed his head, as if enjoying the attention.

"Now if only we can con someone into coming out to the cross country course with us, huh?" Jonas pondered outloud. Although he was a Jr.Coach, and son of the stableowner, the groups of two or more rule still applied to him. So if he wanted to run the intermediate course he'd have to have someone come out with him.

Catherine had finished unloading Smokey about 15 minutes ago and was settling in. She hoped she had put everything in the right spot and nobody would yell at her. She wondered what she was supposed to do next and didn't see anybody around. "Would you like to be brushed Smokey?" Catherine asks her. Smokey gives a low whicker and nudges her. Catherine starts brushing Smokey when she hears someone walk down the hallway. "Someone's coming, I hope they don't mind I'm here." Catherine thinks. She moves to the other side of Smokey so the other person wouldn't see her as easily. When she hears the person stop at a stall she is surprised to hear the person start talking. After a few miutes she realizes the person is a he and talking to a horse. She listened knowing that she should tell him she was here but wanted to hear what he was saying. "He wants to go cross country. Yay! may i could join him. I want to have more than one ride on Smokey" Catherine thought wistfully "well then i'll have to introduce myself." Catherine works up her nerve and steps out of the stall. She sees a tall boy grooming a gorgeous gray horse. "Hi, I'm Catherine and i overheard you, sorry, but I was wondering if I could join you for the cross country course." She ends looking at the floor as if fearing rejection.

skye stood infront of the barn holding her pony Smartie by his white leadrope. a large pile of equitment was dumped to their left. Smarties ears flicked forward as he took in the sight of his new home. "well her goes Smartie time to meet everybody else" she said as she patted his short stocky neck. before leading him into the barn. she passed several horses on her way all of which looked well bred and clean. skye continued down the aisle heading to the voices she had just heared. "hello is anybody there?" she called.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 28, 2007 2:09 pm

Jonas turned, putting one hand against Ghost's neck as the tall horse gave a snort at the girl. So he would be meeting some of the new boarder's after all. He waited for the girl to introduce herself, them stepped forward and offered a polite handshake. He was of course, very polite and courteous to the new boarders. It came from being around so many. He had to give them a nice welcome so they didn't just turn tail and run.

"Hi I'm Jonas Albrite. My mom is the owner here." He said giving her a handshake. Ghost nudged his head forward, giving the girl a good look and flaring his nostrils, trying to smell whether or not she may have a treat for him.

"Welcome to Gray Acres, I hope you were able to find everything Ok." He mentally went through his head, trying to figure out which of the boarders this might be. He remembered horse names better than people names though, and there was a Smokey and a Smartie who were supposed to be moving in. This girl was pretty tall, so he guessed she must have the Thoroughbred mare, Smokey.

"You have the Thoroughbred mare right? I was about to head out onto the course, I guess I could show you around a bit. Do you have a lot of riding experience" He said, before turning as someone else entered the barn. It was a girl with a fancy looking gray arab-type pony. Must be Smartie and his owner.

"Hi, over here." he called giving her a wave. Ghost raned his neck around to check out the next new arrival.

Smartie jumped backwards at the sound of the guys voice. skye quickly got him back under control. "hi im skye the new boreder you wouldnt know where i could find the owner or someone else to tell me where to put him" she said gesturing back at Smartie who was reaching his nose towards ghost. skye looked at the guy who at said hi up and down trying to figure out if he could help her. she figured he might know what he was doing before she look at the other girl who looked several years younger than skye she seemed to look abit unsure of herself but maybe thats just because she was new. Smartie seemed more interested in ghost and smokey more than anything.

Catherine shrinks back into herself and looks at the ground when she sees the new girl but thinks to herself "I need to get to know people, so I've got to talk to her" Catherine takes a breath, looks up and says "Hi Skye, I'm Catherine and I've been here a total of fifteen minutes. Smokey, the black mare, is mine. I just met Jonas*gestures at him* and he's the owner's son, so I'm sure he can help you.

Character Name: Arianna Mclean
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Riding experience: Advanced intermediate.
Appearance: 5"2, long black hair past her shoulders, and beautiful forest green eyes. She normally wears a fitted t-shirt or a Aeropostale polo, which she finds better then riding polos, and a pair of breeches and tall black boots. Her long black locks are usually down except on the hottest of days. Her skin is a lovely tan all year round, growing darker in the summer. She carries herself with grace and dignity, but respectfully.
History: Arianna was born in South Carolina, and then moved to Virginia at the age of 9. She has loved horses for as long as she can remember, and her parents support her passion. She is a normal teenage girl who loves boys and the mall, but has a special place in her heart for horses.
Personality: Kind but laid back, likes attention but lets it come on its own. She usually just hangs with the horses.
Lease Horse Preferrence: If you plan to lease a horse from the stable, feel free to put which one! If you leave this blank, one will be assigned to your character accordingly. There is a list of horses currently for lease on the character list.

If you are planning on bringing your own horse to board, you will need to fill out a character sheet for them as well. Please, 1-2 horses per character, to keep things a little sane.

Horse's name: I Hope You Dance
Age: 8
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Quarter Horse
Height: 16.2
Color/Markings: Light bay with a few reddish dapples and a white stripe. 4 black stockinged legs and a black mane and tail.
Personality: Outgoing, bossy, protective of Arianna, doesn't know he was ever gelded.
Strengths: He has a great trot and a beautiful, rocking horse canter with a lovely jump style and great tucks.
Weaknesses: He's a sucker for peppermints and will stop dead to look at any mare. He trys to stand up to other stallions but usually comes away with a few cuts.

OOC: Is it ok if my character is not an eventer? I wanted her to be a QH show horse that does hunters mainly, and also western pleasure, showmanship, horsemanship, and halter.
