The camp has trip sensors all around the perimiter, with only one way in or out at the main gate. This is guarded by two 50 cal. turrets, and four marines. The outer camp is a mix of tents and PTing marines, with the inner camp having the command and armory tent.

The humvee went past the main gate, wich was littered with 50 cal. shells, and two dead marines, along with 15 Vamp bodies, and/or piles of dust. The air was filled with the Rattling fire of automatic weapons, and bullets pinged from the side of the humvee. Jason opened up, and several vampires fell clutching their burning bodies, the UV rounds doing their jobs, but soon after they fell, countless more appeared, all firing automatic weapons into the humvee. Jason merely popped a Willy Pete(white phospherous, basically napalm in a can.) grenade and tossed it into the group. They fell, their comrads trying to put them out with water, but only getting a larger flame. Bill floored it and the two jumped out, the humvee colliding with two more of the undead warriors. they fired into the masses of vamps, their sidearms tearing through flesh and bone...

Men ran from tent to tent, sandbag pile to sandbag pile, firing upon the vampires, who outnumbered them by at least 200 to one, if not more. The gunnery sergeant came out of the armory tent firing a 10-gauge pump action, the UV slugs tearing anything in their way apart...

With the base in such a state of disarray, Selene and Michael were able to easily slip in behind the humvee without causing so much as a second glance. The constant roar of fire brought familiar longings to the surface of Selene’s mind, muscles priming themselves to join the battle waging around them. For a moment the vampiress felt tinged with remorse that it was her kin falling pray to the hail of bullets, that she would soon be joining the fight against them, but she pushed it aside; reminding herself that it was either her, or them.

Metal impacting metal; the sound reverberated around the interior of the Jaguar; Selene’s jaw tightening imperceptibly as she envisioned the pock marks that would now mar the side of her vehicle. The sudden explosion of burning light elicited an involuntarily cry from Selene, leaving the vampire blinded and forcing Michael to grab for the wheel.

“Selene?!” he cried, turning the wheel frantically to avoid hitting marines and obstacles alike. Hitting the brakes sharply, causing dirt to plume behind them, Selene unshielded her eyes and blinked several times. Her vision was blurred, white spots dancing before her. “I’m fine” she hissed, rubbing at her eyes with the back of her hands. Growling under her breath, Selene reached for her weapons and burst from the car; twin pistols blaring to life as she entered the skirmish.

Rubbing at his pained shoulder, having impacted with the dashboard upon their sudden stop, Michael pushed the pain aside as he vacated the car. Sharply inhaling the scent of blood and burnt flesh, the man allowed the change to fully overtake him this time. Nails lengthened and blackened, eyes becoming impenetrable in their darkness, human teeth becoming deadly sharp; a strangled cry passing from his lips as muscle and bone altered the form, skin finally becoming blue-grey as the transformation completed. Roaring, Michael charged into the battle, tearing at any undead soul that crossed his path.

The vampires were all around them now, but Jason wasn't worried. He hit an oncoming vamp straight in the face with his pistol grip, then kicked it's chest in with a heavy boot. he fired three rounds into another of them, about five feet away, putting three 1" holes straight through him, and startling the man, who had a split-second earlier been pulling the trigger on Jason. He brought his pistol up again, took a round in the chest, and fired twice more, before shifting into a roundhouse kick that crushed a vampire's skull. He shook the pain from his wound off, and fired the last two rounds of the pistol's clip into the face of another vamp about three feet away. He and bill were slowly getting to the center of the camp, but were unaware of Selene and Micheal following them.

Several vampire squads noticed Selene and began firing at her, and were crushed by a hail of bullets from a passing Blackhawk helicopter's miniguns. Two marines who until a second ago had been firing from behind a nearby tent jogged out and finished the survivors off, then saw Selene, and lifted their weapons to fire...

Amongst the chaos Selene recognised several faces, although this didn’t deter her from filling her once comrades full of bullets. Those on the receiving end appeared momentarily confused, features dissolving into dust as they tried to utter final curses or verbalise their bewilderment. Dodging around the blows directed toward her, skirting the oncoming fire, Selene moved further into the onslaught, disposing of vampire after vampire with a well placed blow of bullet. In the wake of all the uncertainty that had plagued them for the past year, Selene felt a semblance of comfort rise within her at being once more within the heart of a battle. This was her element, her forte, and until now she hadn’t realised how much she had missed times like this.

Keeping Selene within his sight, Michael easily fought against the attacks and fire of the vampires; dealing killing blows with his bare hands. Gore dripped down his arms, enticing and ensnaring his senses with it scent, spurring him onwards in the fight against the fanged threat. Catching a vampire by the arm as the death dealer came up behind him, Michael hurled the unsuspecting warrior into a tree; snapping the vampire’s back as if it were nothing more then a twig.

Dropping to the ground as several vampiric squads opened fire upon her, Selene’s hands covered her head as high-powered fire rained down from above; the vampire back on her feet in an instant as the discharge ceased.

Crushing the neck of a blood sucker in his palm; Michael scanned for the familiar figure of Selene over the battlefield, snarling in fury at the sight that greeted him. Charging across the open plain, flinging aside the vampires and marines who got in his way; Michael sent a power, open palm, into the wrist of the gun-totting marines that were threatening Selene. Grabbing one man by the collar and throwing him into a pile of sand bags, the hybrid lifted the other marine until their faces were mere inches apart. “Leave her alone” he snarled, words a low and warning growl.

The marine's eyes widened in understanding, and he nodded, lifting his rifle with one hand and dispatching another leech that had snuck up on Micheal. "Allright then hybrid, where's Jason?" the other marine asked, his voice straining slightly with the pain from hitting the bags as he stood up and put a burst into a group of vamps, making them seek cover. Both marines seemed to know who the duo were, and also seemed to trust them...

Dropping the man back to the ground as he nodded; Michael’s keen eyes scanned the battleground in search of Jason and as a means to ensure no other military officers had turned their attentions to Selene. Toward the front of the ruckus, heading toward the centre of the camp, was the man the stunned officer was seeking. “There” the hybrid growled, pointing a clawed hand toward Jason. Having answered the question asked of him, Michael abandoned the two officers to their fates and moved through the fray to Selene’s side.

Battling her way through the onslaught, the former death dealer disposed of vampires left and right; countenance a mask of grim determination. Some security, Selene thought inwardly, casting Michael a quick glance from the corner of her eye as he came up beside her.

The man nodded to the other marine and the two lifted their M4s and blasted full automatic fire into the vampires, killing several before they ducked behind a pile of sandbags, another dead marine cresting the pile.

Jason took another round in his left soulder as he moved foreward, dropping to his knees. Bill grabbed an MP5 from the ground and loosed a hail of bullets into the nearby vamps, wounding, but not killing them with the weapon's rounds. He grabbed Jason's right arm, and began to help him up when he took a burst to the chest, and fell writhing to the ground. Jason caughed up blood as he got to his knees. "MEDIC!" he yelled over the battle, lifting his pistol and unloading into a nearby vampire squad, killing all but one, who hit jason with three mor rounds acrost his chest. one was stopped cold by his Kevlar, but the other two entered with ease. Jason blinked once and fell, his pistol falling alongside him...

The marines saw this and charged the vamps, downing their leader had loosed their fury, the two races hitting each other like bricks. Immeadiately hundreds of vampires lost their lives, along with most of the marines. The rest, were surrounded with bodies, and each began slowly moving to Jason and Bill...

Firing off several more shots, all of which found their targets with ease, Selene’s attention was snagged by the sudden call for a medic. Chestnut eyes caught the eruption of bullets toward Jason, witnessed the blood that began to flow freely from the wounds that now marred his chest; Selene surprised to find herself filled with the same anger that was now driving the marines. Baring her teeth in a silent snarl, the vampire surged forward with the human combatants, mowing down their vampiric foe with a well placed bullet or blow.

Moving at Selene’s side, although distinctly lacking the same natural and graceful movements, Michael snapped, broke and crushed whatever cold flesh his clawed fists happen to close upon. By the time the onslaught had dampened, the hybrid was caked in gore; failing to notice as he finished off a fleeing vampire by tearing the creature’s heart from its chest. Throwing the stilled organ to the ground and crushing it beneath his heel, Michael paused to catch his breath; ebony eyes tinged with mixed anger and concern as he moved slowly toward the downed Jason.

Re-holstering her weapons in the face of vampiric retreat, Selene wiped a pallid hand across her brow to clear away the dust and ash that clung to her skin. Slipping through the slow moving cluster of marines, the vampire made it to Jason’s side within a few moments; kneeling and examining his wounds with a skilled eye. The wound to his shoulder would heal, if given time, but the wounds to his chest were certain to cost him his life – in spite of attempts to prevent otherwise. “s**t” Selene cursed, pressing her hands against the words in vain. Not only was Jason doomed to have lost his wife to the vampires, but now his own life would be taken by the hand of her immortal brethren. Closing her eyes and sighing, faced with the gravity of the task before her, Selene quietly uttered – “I have to turn him, it’s the only way to save his life”

“Selene…” Michael whispered, not questioning her choice but offering her support with the single utterance of her name.

As if this would in same way make up for the murder of his wife, Selene tore down Jason’s collar and lifted the injured marine into her lap. “I’m sorry, forgive me” she whispered into his ear, lowering her fanged mouth to his neck and biting. His blood quickly filled her mouth, possessing the same sweetness that Michael’s had a year earlier; heartbeat resounding within her ears. Ever mindful of his delicate condition, Selene took only as much as was needed; extracting her fangs and lowering Jason back into her lap. Wiping the vestiges of blood from her mouth, Selene waited.

Jason blinked, his vision blurring, then clearing quickly as his wounds healing slowly. He coughed, and looked up at Selene, his eyes confused. He tried to prop himself up, but was still too weakened to do so, so, still being in her lap, he smiled slightly."Does this mean you like me?" he asked, his voice weak, but his eyes held a firm gaze with hers.

Bill was himself propped up against a crate, the medic furiousy working on his chest. He smiled at Jason's remark, then winced as the Medic began stitching him up. He wondered why Selene had turned him, but even more why she seamed to care for him so mutch, even though she had only met him tonight...

Placing a firm hand on his shoulder, forcing him to remain upon his back, Selene’s expression remained unreadable at Jason’s question. “Perhaps” she replied in a cold, detached tone. Lifting her hand from Jason, slipping both arms from her jacket and folding the material to form a pillow of sorts; Selene gently lifted the marine’s head and slipped her coat underneath. Placing his head back down, the vampire stood to her feet. “You’ll need to feed soon; the change is draining, especially when you are already wounded” Selene stated, crossing her arms before her.

Slipping through the lingering crowd to stand by Selene’s side, Michael placed a hand tenderly against the small of the woman’s back. “We should see to your wounds” he said quietly, voice lacking the earlier feral edge now that he was once more ‘human’. While Michael himself was pock-marked with bullet holes, he cared little for treating them in the face of Selene’s injuries. Catching the eye of a medic, Michael waited for the marine to make his way toward them.

Jason stayed laying down, bothered about what she had said. "On what?" He asked, a grimace forming upon his face. "I for one, am not too exited about draining someone's blood." he said, his voice still weak, memories of his wife's body floating in front of his eyes...

The medic finished stitching up Bill, then moved to Selene and Micheal, counting heads. From his count, he quickly wrote down on a small notepad: 10 KIA. He put the pad back into his pocket and stepped foreward, and immediately began assesing the two's wounds. He looked into their eyes, and using a low-power flashlight he checked first Selene, then Micheal, and shook his head. "Her vision has been damaged slightly..." he said more to himself than anyone, then he pulled a small case of pills out and handed them to her. "this will help your retinas repair themselves." He said quickly, then moved on to checking for other wounds...

((I don't see that Selene has any wounds, does she?))

“They’re just scraps Michael, I’ll be fine” Selene replied, offering the man at her side a gentle yet firm look. He worried too much and, although it was comforting to know he cared so greatly, she was long past the point where she wished to be treated with such fragility. Taking the offered pill case, which she had no intention of using, and depositing it within a satchel at her waist; Selene directed her attention to Jason once more. “We haven’t fed from human in centuries, it’s prohibited under coven edict” the vampiress stated, familiar with the expressions of disgust he was displaying. The thought of feeding had provoked such feelings in Selene when she had first been turned; and she had resisted the draw until she had been driven near on mad with bloodlust. “We first survived through drinking animal blood, but those times have passed. Our scientists have managed to successfully clone blood, which provides finances for the coven and an unlimited source of food. We have supplies at the safe house…” Selene paused, a frown gracing her features, “which you’ll have to accompany us to; we can’t have you running around unsupervised”

“I imagine you have questions” the woman uttered quietly, an open invitation for Jason to ask what he wished.

((I deal with her attained memories in another post, perhaps when they return to the den – unless something presents itself before then ^^))

Two marines stepped foreward with rifles raised, but Jason waved them off. "I'm already one of them, and she's right." he explained, looking around at them, and wishing more had lived. Jason looked to Selene again, shifting uncomfortably. "why did you turn me?" He asked with a frown, a distant but unmistakable hunger sparking within him. "I thought that it was against the 'Coven'." he finished, rubbing his neck an reaching for a cig.

Bill stood and stepped foreward, folding his arms. "I still want to accompany him, as well as another marine, if possible." He said, not forcefully, but questioningly, his concern for leaving his commander alone with them obvious, but also respecting them as allies, they had helped repel the vampire attack...

“I’m not exactly a member of the coven anymore” Selene replied curtly, a faint hint of regret in her tone. Despite the lie upon which she had been turned, on which she had lived the bulk of her immortal existence, the vampiress had grown fond of coven – of the warriors she had worked alongside for close to six centuries; and that feeling wasn’t something that fade quickly. For a long time Selene was silent; dark eyes hiding the emotion and thought running beneath her pale visage. When she finally spoke her voice was low, careful, verging on a bare whisper. “A chance; to prove yourself, to fulfil your obligation…to avenge your wife” Selene spoke, watching Jason intently to gauge his reaction. “Why do my reasons so perturb you?” she asked, an eyebrow lifting curiously.

At the question from Bill, Selene cast a quick glance to Michael who was standing quietly at her side. The hybrid lightly shrugged his shoulders in reply, still not entirely trusting the marines but unable to argue with the logic behind their appeal. “Very well” Selene consented, nodding, “under the condition that you do not reveal the location of the safe house to anyone, regardless of circumstance”
