List your fav movies or films that you think others should see.

Myself I liked:
-When Night if falling - A great and slightly depressing film about a catholic school teacher who starts to fall in love with a circus proformer and ends up questioning her entire faith.

-Better then Chocolate - A silly comedy about a girl who runs off to Vancouver and lives in the back of a lesbian bookstore until her mother calls to tell her that she has broken up with her father. She moves into a new house with her girlfriend and the mother arrives earlier then expected. She must try to keep her sexuality a secret while her mother is around while dealing with many other problems that arrise.

-If these walls couple talk 2 - three short films that show the changes to lesbians over the years. Very sad at point and silly at others. It is a great set of shorts to be seen by all.

-But I'm a cheerleader - Silly and somewhat strange - a girl is sent to a straight camp that has some issues of it's own. Very weird.

-Mullhallond Drive - This movie will warp your mind. Made by the creator of Twin Peaks this movie is ment to make you think and twist your perseptions. It is confusing at first but when you realize that much of it is some wierd dream it starts to make some kind of sense. I loved it all the same. Mind you I love strange films like this.

-Girls interupted (sort of acording to my Kim) - Although Kim does not consider this a lesbian film it is listed on many lesbian listings. It is the story of a girl who is sent a a psycho hosptial. It is based entirly on the dairy of that girl and the adventures she had while there. Interesting and a good watch.

Do you have anything you wish to add to this list.

I saw 'but I'm a cheerleader' great, hilarious movie and 'girl interrupted'.

FoxFire: a drifter comes to town and four girls whose lives have been pretty bad up until that point go through a series of trials and triumphs. Really angsty, some tragedy, but overall an interesting movie.

The Depth of Water: Creepy drama about an immigrant living in new england and her relationship with the different people in her life. brief, understated but questionable love scene.

There's another one, but I'll have to think about the name...

I own "But I'm a cheerleader" (Love it) and I liked both "girl interrupted" and "when night is falling".

Other movies:
~D.E.B.S.- another silly movie- It started as a comic and then became a short film and finally a full length movie. There's a secret test in the SAT that measures your ability to lie. If you get a high score, you become a DEB.
~Imagine Me and You- it was cute- On her wedding day the main character falls in love at first sight with another girl. It's funny and cute but sad. I feel sooooo bad for her husband.

I also saw "Lost and Delirious" which was totally depressing.

*hopefully none of these are actual spoilers, but sometimes I explain too much!*

Transamerica is really, really good! About a MTF who realises she has a son.. but doesn't know how to tell him that she's his, erm... father. She's also trying to get surgery in the next week, but this unexpected son kind of interrputs things since she has to get him and travel across the coutnry to take him home. It's a wonderful story.

Tipping the Velvet is a wonderful, great and uber sexy british film!!! It was first a book by Sarah Waters, and then the BBC turned it into a made for tv movie. I absolutely ADORE it! heart There is another film based off of another book by the same author, called Fingersmith.

Fire is also a wonderful and excellent bollywood film. I can't remember if it's in English or if it has subtitles... I think it's in English. Anyway, it's about a newly wed young woman (arranged marriage of course) who moves in with her husbands brother I think, or something like that, and his wife. Anyway, the two women form a bond... and that bond turns out to be more than platonic. heart

There are a bunch of others that I love, but those are just the top that I thought of right now..

I don't know if The Hours counts as a lesbian movie, but it was a great movie about three woman from three different timelines, connected by the book Mrs. Dalloway. There is a prologue where Virgina Woolf kills herself, then it starts with a lesbian writer sneaking back home. She wants to throw a party for a male friend. Now and then the scene switches to the past where Virginia Woolf is trying to write Mrs. Dalloway or to a lesbian woman reading Mrs. Dalloway. The woman reading Mrs. Dalloway is married to a man who is good, but whom she doesn't love (we late finds out that she loves her female "best friend") and with whom she has a son. This is a movie about three women and their friends struggling with their life, what they should be and what they are. Who will accept their "madness" and live on, and who will die in order to escape?

<******** Amal (also known as Show Me Love) is a favorite of mine. It's a Swedish film I believe, but you can find it subtitled in English (youtube or download). Agnes has a crush on Elin. Elin is bored with Amal and wants to do something. It all starts when Jessica bets Elin to kiss Agnes. After that Elin has mixed feelings and pretty much plays with Agnes' feelings the rest of the film...but I do love the ending. I'm not very good with summaries though sweatdrop

Rent is the only movie I've ever seen that had a canon girlxgirl pairing, I think. I highly recommend it. It's based off a Broadway musical, and it's got some really catchy songs. Whenever I watch it with my friends, we put on the closed captioning and sing along. sweatdrop We're such dorks. But it's really fun in a big group, especially when you do some of the actions along with the characters.

Oh, yes, what it's about. It's about a group of friends with various romantic attachments in New York at the end of the 1980s, and follows their lives for a year. Sad at times, with the subject matter including AIDS, but definitely a good movie.

Have a great day!

But I'm a Cheerleader was such a funny movie. I loved it! D.E.B.S. was.... Well, okay, I liked the relationship (Hehe, fuzzy handcuffs) but the movie was REALLY wierd. Think Charlie's Angels with more lesbians and less a**-kicking.

Rent is great - Everyone should see it. I love the Tango Maureen, it's a great song and amazing dance number.

Hmm... Can't really think of anything else.

I loved that movie, but hated the ending. The alternate ending wasn't too much better...but the bloopers are awesome.

I loved it too! Yes, the ending sucked and so did the alternative ending, I didn't really understand it. Yea, the bloopers are pretty funny.
