However, Tipping has the advantage of having Rachel Stirling in it (pictured, on the right), and it does have a happy ending! Sarah Waters is an exceptionally good writer as well.

Fizzlesticks, is Tipping better than Fingersmith? I picked up Fingersmith and was psyched about it, but she seemed to really abuse commas in it. ): It read, like this, it seemed with commas, everywhere, unnecessarily. I couldn't get past the beginning, even though I liked the plot. .__.;;

Annie on My Mind is one of my favorite books.
Actually, I didn't like it the first time I read it, but after a while it just sticked on me. ♥

Two of my favorites are Kiss the Girls and Make Them Spy and The Girl With the Golden Bouffant by Mabel Maney. I love parody books to begin with, even if I've never read/watched the series. These two are definitely my favorites though. I'd really like to get ahold of the author's other books sometime soon.

I suggest "Early Embraces" edited by Lindsey Elder. It's True stories of first lesbian experiences, yummy.

Fizzlesticks Can anyone tell me about Rita Mae Brown? She wrote Rubyfruit Jungle, right? I think I looked her up in the library and she's also the one who writes those "The Cat Who..." books. I found it mildly amusing. Haven't read anything by her, though; they didn't have any of her more lesbian-themed books.
Currently, I'm reading "Name All the Animals" by Alison Smith, and it's BEAUTIFUL. The writing is extremely fluid. It's a memoir. The author lost her brother as a kid and eventually finds out she's into girls through a new student who enrolls in her Catholic school.
I've yet to finish it, but I've quite enjoyed it thus far.
edit: it's "name," not "count." I am a doofus.

I read Rubyfruit Jungle last night/this morning - it's a really good book. Although, the German promised me it was a bit racy! (She lent it to me.) I couldn't put it down, though. Great style of writing.

Sarah Waters's Fingersmith is her best yet ..
In regards to Tipping the Velvet ... the book is better , much more imaginative
For easy reading and a bit of fun I would recommend * Parculiar Passion * by Ruby Vise
It's an excellent read with lots of pirates and swash buckling lol
