Its only a few years into the future, though times are much different now. There is a rare strand of DNA that is resurfacing after being dormant for such a long time; Z12 as it is being called. It's origins come from ancient China, where it is said that a powerful witch cursed the families of a village; from those families, twelve children were born... cursed children. When in contact with a member of the opposite gender, the child would take the form of an animal of the zodiac sign, never giving the children a chance to find a mate. But somehow those children did, and the curse remained hidden, passed down generation to generation, hiding in the DNA, until now. Now, twelve people have discovered that they have this DNA. Scientists are trying to discover and capture these people, hoping to be able to harness this DNA and replicate it, using the DNA as a weapon, but the people dont want this, so they remain hidden, hoping to find one another. The Zodiac twelve, unite and survive.

So she politely, yet forcefully sent her daughter into the world, knowing herself that she'd have problems with her genetics, but it was safest that her path was unpredictable to the enemy.
