What is you favorite part of D&D? Is it powergaming? Getting a good laugh? Developing a character? Bashing heads? DMing (I know this one is unlikely)? Post it here.

Bigmageusa: I enjoy putting the ideas to action in a game. I enjoy the character aspect and the control of the style of character I recieve while a player.

I love it when it's the characters themselves (and not the people playing them) that make a plot go. I also like when the party goes 'off-roading' to finish a quest by unconventional means. i.e. a certain flying sandcrawler with hull-mounted blasters. Or a certain Moonvaki grog enterprise. Or a certain pouch of infinite holly.

Can't argue with that.

I like the fact of interacting with close friends, and leaving reality for a short period, and act out character's that are living in an era which I feel I should have been born in, and well..l guess leveling up, and gaining more abilites, too, and experimenting with multi classing; for example, currently, my spell thieft, soon to be rogue, and later to also be an acrobatic sprll-thieft rogue

My favorite part is creating the characters, and playtesting them against a wide array of monsters.

(Half Orc Wizard(1)/Fighter(X) or Monk(X) or Soul Blade (X) is a lot of fun)

nope im still a dnd n00b trying to figure out how to kill off a 10th level player with access to all 15th character level spells. sad he can destroy all creatures of 9 hit dice or less, and can obliterate undead creatures in a BIG way. (Single hit killed nitecrawlers. sad ) Im thinking the only thing i can throw at him and the party (they are n00bs) is constructs. (He killed off a Balor boosted up to CR 63 with adding 40 more levels from race, and a ton of class levels, in 3 hits. First delt 14 points of damage 2nd was the spell Harm which reduced him to 4 hit points followed by another attack for 14 points of damage. :'( )

I'm not even going to ask how harm did that...

He combined it with a magical item that allowed him to cast Mirical 1x per week. (I cant spell) He used his mirical spell item to request that ALL his spells recieve a bonus from his years of experiance at casting his spells. (I rolled d% to see if it would work, allowing a 5% chance of success. I rolled a 99%. Because of this I rolled 1d4 to see if i should use true Modifier ammount, D4, D6, or D8 respectively. 3 came up so i ruled that he could deal (His wis modifier)d6 points of age practice to his damage delt. (Mostly as a punishment for trying such a stunt. He has over 500 points of wisdom on that character because it has a timeless body granted by being a divine agent.)

Though i do have to look that up once i can get my hands on a book of the planes.

Imagine having to roll 245d6. razz with on a reflex save only dealing 1/2 damage. MUGHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

He may be lvl 10, but he's for at least 240 monster levels, making him equivelent to a lvl 250 (+480 wisdom is worth that many if he added just a few bonus feats.) And divine realms' gifts require 1) the god sending him on missions, 2) utter blind following of the god, 3) DM full concent. It seems like you may have dug into a strange hole, but he twisted something the wrong way. Sounds like a DM type turned player.

he is a DM that wanted to play for a while. I wanted to run a game for him to run His Midian. (An NPC that he runs to aide players and give quests and such). He has been jonesing to play midian for a while. Personally i love love the idea of the challenge. Offering a challenge for me to create a campain world inwhich he is challenged, as well as a world where normal n00bish players can have a chance. I think i did a good job by setting the following rules...

ALL SPELLS have a 50% chance of failure ontop of the normal Arcane spell failure where applicable. This applys to racial spells as well.

Magical items are damaged as they are used. They recieve 1 point of damage for EACH time they are used. in the event the item is a magical weapon or armor it takes 1 point for each day it is worn/wielded. This can only be repaired by not wearing the item for 1 week. (1 point per week).

The current group consistes of...

Young Blue Dragon (with 1 level of monk) (EL 13 DM Modified) (unarmed combat is primary weapon
A gnome (Fighter/Bard/Ranger) (Level 13) (flint lock guns x4)
Wood Elf Fighter(13) (+5 Rapier, & Normal Rapier. Improved Critical w/ Weapon focus & Finess)
Midian (Divine Agent Level 10) (Scithe is the primary weapon, supported by magic spell boosting.)

I learned I cant throw undead at the group because of Midian. I cant throw living creatures with fewer then 9 hit dice because of midian. That means......

High level living creatures, and Animated Objects. I was thinking of throwing a construct CR 16 at the group with a few 13hd Greater Baghursts, and maybe some lvl 10 goblin warriors, and a few lvl 11 Hobgoblin warriors.

The Construct to fight Midian, and the others to fight the rest of the party.
