Ok. I have some herbs.
They are old.
Like... 1.5 to 2 yrs old.
They smell fine. They look ok. But some are slightly discolored. Only slightly. They've been in paper bags for all these years, and the lavender... its like I bought it yesterday.
So, are they safe for use? I have Sagebrush, lavender, henna, and cinnamon...

I suppose it depends on what you're using them for. if they've been stored out of light, they're probably still good enough... I mean, I don't really know. Most herbs lose potency after a few months, but they lose it slowly, so... you can always try. XD Cinnamon lasts forever, and so does lavender. Henna should be fine, 'cause it's made to be used dried and powdered... I don't know about the sage.
Erm... you said sagebrush. Do you mean sage the plant, or sagebrush the bush? 'Cause Sagebrush is toxic. >>

Well, ok then... White sage, uhh... hold on: White sage... I thought another name for it was sagebrush... XD
Id use it for infusions, not for me to drink, but to spray and stuff... yea. Im not going to eat something two years old. XD
So they'd be usable? Do they lose their thereputic qualities? Because you said they lose potency, but they've been stored reletively dark...

Yep, that's sage, and it's safe. ^_^
The only way to find out is to try. ^_^

If it isn't molding and smells okay, sounds like good cause to me to use it. Heh. Depends on what you're using it in though. Fresher is better in the eating department as mentioned but it should be fine for other uses.
