The room was square, a neat 10' x 10', simply furnished in somber earth tones, with nothing but a desk and numerous bookcases for furniture. Sliding double doors adorned the wall opposite the entrance, leading into Kinaro's bedroom, a room he was actually very rarely in. It was this simple, relatively small room that he could most often be found, amongst the many rooms of his rather large home.
And it was here that Kinaro once again entered, a contented smile on his face as he stripped off his Shinigami robes entirely and set aside his Zanpaku-to, carefully sliding the bracers off of his arms. He was wonderfully happy, eager to plan for his date with Kagerou...
"A date..." he thought aloud, letting the word drag out across his tongue, as though he were testing its weight. It was nice really, a dash of normality amongst the constant craze caused by the situation in Soul Society. That, and it would be a wonderful change of pace to spend a day, or evening, or whatever, based on when she showed up, in the company of a rather beautiful female.
He started walking the bookcases, his finger following the titles of the books as he went by. Man, I really need to organize these things better. Finally, he found something that might be useful - a cookbook. It was time to decide what to make for dinner on Saturday.

The smell of simmering bacon wafted through Kinaro's house. As the bacon simmered, Kinaro dipped bread into the mixture of egg, milk, and cinnamon before tossing it on a flat griddle pan. Kinaro's stomach rumbled as he stood there, watching that his food didn't burn, the bacon on a back burner so the grease wasn't as likely to spit onto his bare chest, water still running down it from his hair.
Heeding Kagerou's warning about time, Kinaro had decided to have a plan for all three meals for the day, and the first was being cooked. He was only making enough for him (except for the bacon, which he always made extra of and would need later anyway), but it would be insanely simple to make more, were Kagerou to show up.
He grinned, almost hoping she arrived early and he could hang out with her for the better portion of the day. He felt like, for lack of a better thought, some kid in high school going for his first date. Well, that's what he figured his emotional state was akin to. Having never been a kid in high school, it was mildly difficult for him to actually determine if it really felt like he did right now. But he was nervous, and eager, and very worried about screwing things up, and those were feelings he just wasn't used to.
He sighed as he flipped the bread so the other side could turn that wonderful golden-brown. He figured all he could really do was wait for her to show up.

Kagerou was telling the truth when she said she didn't dress up. She had merely taken off her lab coat so that her outfit consisted of shinigami pants, a black tank top, and long sleeved fishnet.
At the moment, she was laying in the floor of the "book room", her hands tucked behind her head. One of her legs was propped up on the knee of the other. She looked pretty relaxed. The bacon smelled pretty darn good.
She hadn't decided how to approach this yet. Would she just lay here until found? Was she going to go play around in some other rooms? Or was she just going to enter the kitchen and steal some of that delicious smelling bacon?

Kinaro smiled as he flipped the french toast one final time, walking over to the cabinets and retrieving himself a plate. He couldn't help but take a deep breath to take in the scent of the food as he loaded his plate with the french toast, plenty of bacon, and eggs. He smothered his french toast with margarine spread and maple syrup, though careful to not overdo the maple syrup so its flavor would melt into that of the cinnamon instead of overpowering it.
As he sat to eat, he couldn't help but wonder what Kagerou was up to. Most of the people in Soul Society woke early, unlike in the Mortal Realm, so it was fairly likely that she was awake and about. He laughed softly to himself. In theory, she could even be there, as she said she might show up any time. Somehow, however, he doubted that. He shrugged. Well, I suppose I can live with eating breakfast alone.

Her stomach growled. Okay, that was it.
She strolled casually out of the book room, weaving her way through the rest of the house. Eventually, she slid open the door that lead to the eating area. She made a quick beeline to the table, grabbed a small piece of bacon from his plate, and plopped down beside him.
"Smells good, where's mine?" She asked with a grin, munching the piece of bacon that she stole.

Kinaro showed no indications of having heard the door, but also made no indications of being anywhere near startled as Kagerou sat next to him. He tried not to look annoyed at her stealing his food. Of course, in reality, he wasn't that annoyed anyway. It was kinda cute, although it had always struck him as something couples did - couples who'd been together for a while.
He smiled when he looked over at her. He couldn't help it. He could definitely get used to seeing her every morning. He'd have to visit the Research Facilities more often.
"Good morning to you too." He slid the plate in her direction, two of his original four pieces of french toast untouched. He walked over to his counter, opened a drawer to get her some silverware, and placed it next to the plate.
"You can start with that. I'll make more for both of us while you eat."
He turned and walked over to the stove, wasting no time in dipping bread and tossing it on the griddle, and eating some of the bacon that he was draining the grease off of, throwing more in the pan, still keeping the pan so it couldn't spit all over his chest. He'd seen that happen once. He rather preferred not having it happen to him.
"So, which window did you use?"

Kagerou grinned, finishing the piece of bacon before she responded. "The one that lead to the book room." She said simply, cutting at the toast as her grin widened.
"I was gonna see how long it took you to walk in on me, but this just smelt way too good."
She popped a bite of the toast into her mouth with a 'Mmmmm'.

Kinaro smiled as he watched Kagerou, monitoring the food out of the corner of his eye. He couldn't help but watch her, partly because he was glad she was enjoying his food and partly because she was a beautiful woman who just happened to be in his house. He chuckled as she answered.
"Well, it's a good thing you didn't. The next time I'm heading through that room will be to change into clothes I didn't make a mess of cooking, and I'd've been peeling out of my pants as I got in there if I didn't know you were here...."

To that, Kagerou laughed.
"Well it would've been your fault! I did warn you!" She pointed out, taking another happy bite of her food.
"However, that would've been funnier." She ended the sentence with a shrug.

Kinaro raised an eyebrow. Nope, screw that. He raised BOTH eyebrows. Funnier? Oh, she had to be completely crazy. He figured she'd be as embarrassed as him. He re-thought that. He probably wouldn't be that embarrassed, as the trouble it could lead to would immediately flash into his head.
"Well, I suppose you're right there." He flipped the bread. "Food's almost done."

"Oh good!" She said happily as she finished off the piece of toast she had been pretty much shoving down her throat. "Because I'm starved and this stuff is delicious!" It wasn't often that she had a real breakfast. Cereal was pretty much it for her. Quick, easy, and it was a part of a balanced... well, screw that part. You just don't have a balanced diet when you spend most of the day staring at the computer screen. She lived like a gamer in the Mortal Realm. Yay for Mountain Dew and Ramen noodles!

Kinaro responded by flipping the finished toast from the griddle to another plate, grabbing a handful of bacon and dropping it next to the toast. He walked over, placing the plate in front of Kagerou, followed quickly by butter and real maple syrup.
"Well, enjoy. I'm going to go and clean up." He knew it was technically rude to leave guests like that, but he'd managed to dribble French toast batter on his pants, and he wanted it gone.

Kagerou was about to pounce her food greedily... but then Kinaro finished his sentence. It was the clean up that made her look up. She noticed the batter on his pants... blinked... And then slapped her hand over her mouth.
It was rude, she knew it was rude, but she couldn't help it. Soon her fork wa set down so that she could cover her mouth with both hands, attempting to muffle her laughter. Tears began to form in the corners of her eyes with the effort.

Kinaro stood over Kagerou and looked down, doing his best to appear angry, hands on his hips, eyebrows down. However, in all reality, he was failing miserably. Kinaro was not exactly the type to get angry over something so trivial as her laughing at a situation that was truthfully amusing, and he wasn't very good at pretending to be. Of course, part of him was considering dumping what very little batter was left onto Kagerou, just to even the score, but she didn't have the change of clothes he did, and while her running around naked was all good to him, it seemed rather mean.
"Well excuse me if such batter isn't entirely cooperative and splashes sometimes."
He dropped the facade and chuckled, unable to hold his horrible act. "But I am going to go clean up now, so just give me a few minutes. Feel free to explore the house when you're done eating." With that, he walked out of the kitchen, heading for his bedroom.

Feel free to explore the house? Was this man really insane? Didn’t he know how much you could discover about a person from their house? Oh, this was going to be better than the computer research!
The shoveled the food down her throat rather quickly. She wanted to get started immediately.
She started by investigating his fridge. Did he keep normal bachelor food?
What else could she get into? She began to investigate.
