Okay, here's the scoop.
I want you to write a story for me.
No, not because I'm lazy, but because you're lazy.
Prose is the lifeblood of what our society aspires to.
Legends, Heroes, they create characters that we admire.
We all here have been awe-inspired at one time or another
by the characters others have created to overcome the challenges
and hardships they deal with.
So now it's your turn,

Okay, basically this is a writing competition. I will be judging, and possibly Nightjar (He'll probably say yes). *NIGHTJAR SAYS YES*
Stories will be judged on:
- Adherence to Prompt (5 pts)
That you’re writing a story relating to the prompt we provide
- Spelling and Grammar (5 pts)
That you're writing a story with correct spelling and grammatical structure (that's in english)
- Characterization (10 pts)
That you're writing a story that contains characters that believable, real, people that you could find in the real world. A character that develops well throughout the story. Cliche'd characters are a no-no.
- Style (10 pts)
That you're writing a story that is compelling. A story that through its word choice, plot, symbols, works to grasp the reader, and make a story that is interesting and worth reading.
- Plot (10 pts)
That you're writing a story with a well thought out and believable plot? Does it carry the story forward. Are the events you describe necessary to bring the story forward?

The prizes have now changed from:
1st: 2000 Gold

3rd: 500 Gold
To:
1st: 2000 Gold
2nd: 1000 Gold
3rd: 500 Gold
All other contestants: 250 Gold
That's right, now everyone is a winner
I'll even send Nightjar a tidy little 1000 gold (or more) for his troubles.
So now everyone has to join, even if it's a really crap story.

Here are the rules and guidelines:
- The story can be of any minimum, but we’re not looking for more than 6000 words, at the same time, we aren’t expecting you to write even 1500 words.
- The story must adhere to the chosen prompt
- No plagiarising!
- Judges may not give any feedback onto stories until judging begins
- Contestants may post stories in this sub-forum for the purpose of pre-reading by other members, so post away once you’ve started
- Absolutely no fanfiction, these have to be of your own creation
- When creating a thread for your story, create it in this subforum and title it as follows:
[WWYC] StoryName
---
- Prompt -
For this first competition, I will choose the prompt. For the winner of this and future comps, they will get to choose.
This prompt will be called:
'Change for a dollar'
Human's are versatile in that they are capable of adapting to new situations and environments. You are to write a story about a significant change in a character's life.
You would do very well to stay away from the cliche ideas and find something original. Heck, the character in question doesn't even have to be human.
I am not going to set a date at this time, but after about a week I will.
Good luck to you all.

Just a reminder, please make a thread for your stories, do not post them in this thread.
Sliph, I have whited your story out, so you can copy and paste it into a new thread.
Oh and, Nightjar and I may not ccomment directly on any story until after judging.
